Frequently Asked Questions - JCA002105 Jocel

How do I clean the air filter?
Turn off and unplug the unit. Remove the filter from the back, wash it with warm soapy water, rinse, and let it dry completely before reinstalling. Clean every 2 weeks for optimal performance.
Do I need to drain the water from the unit?
In most conditions, the self-evaporation system removes condensate automatically. In very humid weather, the internal tank may need draining via the bottom drain plug.
The air conditioner is not cooling properly. What could be wrong?
Check that the air filter is clean, the windows and doors are closed, the unit is not too large for the room, and there are no obstructions to airflow. Also ensure the window exhaust hose is properly sealed.
How do I set the timer?
Using the remote or control panel, press the Timer button. Use the +/- buttons to set hours. Press again to confirm. The timer can be set to turn the unit on or off after a specific time.
Can I use an extension cord?
It is not recommended. Plug the unit directly into a properly grounded wall outlet. If necessary, use a heavy-duty extension cord of at least 14 AWG and 15 amps rating.
What does the 'Dry' mode do?
Dry mode reduces room humidity without cooling too much. The fan runs on low speed and the compressor cycles on and off to remove moisture from the air.
How do I use the remote control?
Insert 2 AAA batteries (not included) into the remote. Point it at the air conditioner's receiver. Press Power to turn on, then select mode, temperature, and fan speed.
Why does the unit make a loud noise?
Ensure the unit is on a level, hard surface. Check for loose parts or objects blocking the fan. A gurgling sound is normal from refrigerant flow.
The display shows 'E1' error code. What does it mean?
E1 usually indicates a fault with the room temperature sensor. Turn off the unit and unplug it for 10 minutes. If the error persists, contact customer service.
Can the window kit be installed in sliding windows?
Yes, the included window kit is adjustable for vertical or horizontal sliding windows. Follow the installation guide to expand the panels to fit your window dimensions.

WORKING PRINCIPLES OF AIR COOLER

  • Evaporative air coolers are built to maximize energy efficiency and keep cost low.
  • Warm air is drawn into the cooler and enters the honeycomb cooling media. Water pumped from the tank pours over the honeycomb media (Fig.1).
  • As the warm air passes through the media, the water absorbs the heat, naturally cooling and humidifying the air (Fig. 2).
  • A fan propels the cooled air out into the room. This no-compressor system cools naturally, efficiently and inexpensively.

Warm and dry air Cool and humid air Fig. 2

  • The recommended maximum relative humidity level is 60% or less, which allows a noticeable temperature decrease. The temperature decrease will be greater in drier climates because higher evaporation occurs when the humidity is low.
  • The evaporative air cooler should not be used in enclosed spaces. It must be kept level and there must be water in the water tank. The room should have doors and windows opened to allow free air flow.
  • The evaporative air cooler works best when placed near an open window, so that outside air that is drawn into the evaporative air cooler circulates in the room, then exits via the door.

BEFORE THE FIRST USE

CLEANING AND MAINTENANCE

  • Before cleaning the unit, switch it to off position and unplug from the power supply.
  • Use a damp cloth to remove dirt and dust from the outer surface.
  • Never use corrosive elements or any chemicals to clean this product.

Back cover Honeycomb Filter Honeycomb shell Fig.4

  • Remove the filter and honeycomb filter from its shell for cleaning.
  • Wash the filter in a mild detergent and warm water solution. Then rinse in clean water.
  • Use a brush and water to clean the honeycomb filter.
  • The cleaning frequency for the honeycomb filter depends on local air and water conditions. In areas where the mineral content of water is high, mineral deposits may build up quickly on the honeycomb filter and restrict air flow. Draining the water tank and refilling with fresh water at least once a week will help to reduce mineral deposits. If mineral deposits remain on the honeycomb filter, then it should be removed and washed under fresh water. The honeycomb filter should be cleaned every two months or sooner, depending on the frequency of mineral deposits or dust accumulation.
  • Do not run the unit in mode with stale water in the tank. Empty the tank and refill it with fresh water if water has been standing in the tank for an extended period of time.
  • When the product is not in use, store the unit in a dry place out of direct sunlight.
