Frequently Asked Questions - EB115A V2 Hifonics

What is the recommended enclosure volume for the EB115A V2?
For a sealed enclosure, 1.5 to 2.0 cubic feet is recommended. For a ported enclosure, use 2.5 to 3.0 cubic feet tuned to 35 Hz.
How do I wire the dual 4 ohm voice coils?
You can wire them in series for 8 ohms, parallel for 2 ohms, or one coil per channel for 4 ohms. For optimal performance with most amplifiers, use a 2 ohm final load.
What is the RMS power handling of this subwoofer?
The EB115A V2 handles 500 Watts RMS and 1000 Watts peak power.
What size amplifier do I need?
An amplifier delivering 500 to 1000 Watts RMS at 2 ohms will work well. Ensure the amplifier is stable at the final impedance of your wiring.
What is the mounting depth?
The mounting depth is 6.5 inches, so ensure your enclosure has at least that much internal depth.
Can I use this subwoofer in a sealed enclosure?
Yes, it works well in sealed enclosures. The recommended sealed volume is 1.5 to 2.0 cubic feet for tight, accurate bass.
How do I set the gain on my amplifier?
Set the gain using a multimeter: calculate target voltage as sqrt(Power * Impedance). For 500W RMS at 2 ohms, target voltage is about 31.6V AC. Play a 50 Hz sine wave and adjust gain until you reach that voltage.
What is the frequency response?
The frequency response is 25 Hz to 500 Hz, making it suitable for deep bass and mid-bass applications.
Does this subwoofer need a break-in period?
Yes, it is recommended to break in the subwoofer for 10-20 hours at moderate volume levels. This allows the suspension to loosen and improve performance.
What is the sensitivity rating?
The sensitivity is 90 dB, which means it produces moderate output per watt. A larger enclosure or more power can increase output.
