Frequently Asked Questions - Sapporo Klarstein

How do I cook rice with the Klarstein Sapporo?
Use the included measuring cup to add rice to the inner pot. Add water according to the markings on the pot (e.g., 8 cups raw rice: 8-8.5 cups water). Place the pot in the cooker, close the lid, plug in, press the cook switch. Once done, the switch pops up; let it steam for 15 minutes before serving.
Can I use the rice cooker without the inner pot?
No, the inner pot must be placed inside the cooker before operating. The safety switch prevents operation without it.
Why won't the cook switch press down?
This usually happens if the inner pot is not fully seated on the heating plate. Gently turn the pot left and right to ensure proper contact. It may also occur right after cooking when the cooker is still hot.
How do I clean the rice cooker?
Remove the inner pot and lid; wash them in hot soapy water with a soft cloth. Wipe the outer body with a damp cloth. Do not immerse the base. For the heating plate, use steel wool to remove residue, then wipe dry.
What should I do if the heating plate is dirty?
Unplug the cooker. Use steel wool to polish the heating plate and thermo-control plate, then wipe with a damp cloth. Ensure the surface is dry before next use. Remove any foreign objects to ensure proper operation.
Can I stew or cook other foods in the rice cooker?
Yes, you can stew but do not fill water above 70% of the pot's volume. Also, do not cover the ventilating hole to avoid scalding.
Is the keep warm function automatic?
Yes, after cooking finishes, the cooker automatically switches to keep warm mode as long as it is plugged in. To stop, unplug the unit.
Why does my rice smell bad?
Improper cleaning can cause unpleasant odors. Ensure the inner pot, lid, and heating plate are cleaned regularly. Avoid leaving cooked rice in the pot for extended periods.
What should I do if the power cord is damaged?
Do not use the appliance. The cord must be replaced by the manufacturer, its service agent, or a similarly qualified person to avoid hazard.
Can I use an extension cord?
Yes, but only if the extension cord has a rating at least equal to the appliance (220-240V, 600-700W) and is arranged so it doesn't hang over the counter or create a tripping hazard. If the appliance is grounded, use a 3-wire grounding cord.

OPERATING INSTRUCTIONS

CAUTIONS TO READ BEFORE USING RICE COOKER:

  1. Only use this product with the correct AC voltage outlet. For correct rated voltage see box and label at the bottom of the unit.

  6. Keep bottom of inner pot and surface of heater plate free of foreign matter to prevent operating malfunctions.
