The battery pack, the camcorder with battery installed, and the remote control with battery installed should not be exposed to excessive heat such as direct sunlight, fire or the like.

Make a backup of important recorded data

JVC will not be responsible for any lost data.

It is recommended to copy your important recorded data to a disc or other recording media for storage once every 3 months.

When the equipment is installed in a cabinet or on a shelf, make sure that it has sufficient space on all sides to allow for ventilation (10 cm (3-15/16") or more on both sides, on top and at the rear).

Do not block the ventilation holes. (If the ventilation holes are blocked by a newspaper, or cloth etc. the heat may not be able to get out.) No naked flame sources, such as lighted candles, should be placed on the apparatus. When discarding batteries, environmental problems must be considered and the local rules or laws governing the disposal of these batteries must be followed strictly. The apparatus shall not be exposed to dripping or splashing. Do not use this equipment in a bathroom or places with water. Charging the Battery Pack

Attach the battery pack.

Connect the DC connector.

The battery pack is not charged at the time of purchase.

Align the top of the battery with the mark on this unit, and slide in until the battery clicks into place.

CAUTION Be sure to use JVC battery packs.

0 If you use any other battery packs besides JVC battery packs, safety and performance cannot be guaranteed. 0 The charging time is when the unit is used at 25°C (77°F). If the battery pack is charged outside the room temperature range of 10°C to 35°C (50°F to 95°F), charging may take a longer time or it may not start. The recordable and playable time may also be shortened under some usage conditions such as at low temperature. 0 You can record or play back videos while the AC adapter is connected. (Battery charging cannot be performed during recording or playback.) Remove the battery when the unit is to be used for a long time. Inserting an SD Card

Insert a commercially available SD card before recording. Close the LCD monitor.

Turn off the power of this unit before inserting or removing a card.

o To remove the card

Push the card inward once, then pull it out straight.

NOTE Operations are confirmed on the following SD cards.

Using the Icon Buttons/Thumbnails

A Tap the displayed button (icon) or thumbnail (file) on the touch screen to make selection. B Drag the thumbnails on the touch screen to search for the desired file. Recording Screen

Select an item from the menu list on the menu screen.

. ≪PLAY The shortcut menu appears.

To adjust settings in the “COMMON” menu, tap “Q”. Tap “∧” or “∨” to scroll the screen. Tap the desired setting.

Open the LCD monitor.

Set the date and time.

Tap “YES” when “SET DATE/TIME!” is displayed.

When the year, month, day, hour, or minute item is tapped, “∧” and “∨” will be displayed. Tap “∧” or “∨” to adjust the value. Repeat this step to input the year, month, day, hour, and minute. SET

After setting the date and time, tap “SET”.

Select the region where you live and tap “SAVE”. The city name and time difference are displayed. Tap “<” or “>” to select the city name.

The unit turns on. When the LCD monitor is closed, the unit turns off.

You can record without worrying about the setting details by using the Intelligent Auto mode. The estimated recording time of the supplied battery pack is approximately 1 hour 5 minutes.

Do not remove the battery pack, AC adapter, or SD card when the access lamp is lighted. The recorded data may become unreadable. Still Image Recording

Check if the recording mode is B still image.

Set the focus on the subject.

If the mode is A video, tap A on the touch screen, then tap B to switch.

Playing Back/Deleting Files on this Unit

Select and play back the recorded videos or still images from an index screen (thumbnail display). Tap A or B to select the video or still image mode.

Volume adjustment during playback

Turn down the volume

Tap F on the touch screen to select the playback mode.

Tap E to return to the recording mode.

Tap on the file to play back.

To delete unwanted files

Tap A. Tap on the files to delete. A delete mark appears on the selected file. To remove the delete mark, tap again.

≪REC SEL ALL Tap e to pause playback.

Tap u to return to the video index screen.

REL ALL SET QUIT Tap “SET”.

Tap “EXECUTE” when the confirmation message appears. Tap “OK”.

o To capture a still image during playback

Pause the playback and press the SNAPSHOT button.

The provided JVC software also makes it easy to copy your videos to a computer.

o For customers with a Blu-ray Player:

The provided JVC software lets you create high definition AVCHD discs using standard blank

DVD-R media, and your Windows PC with DVD Burner. An AVCHD disc is a great choice because it contains the original HD video, which can be stored on inexpensive blank DVD-R media. These discs can be played back in virtually any recent Blu-ray player that has the AVCHD logo. Upload to YouTube YouTube is a great way to share your videos, in either HD or SD quality. JVC makes it easy. Copying Files You can create discs or copy the files on this unit by connecting it to various devices. To create DVD-Video discs, it is necessary to install the additional software. Blu-ray discs cannot be created using the provided software. To create Blu-ray discs, use a commercially available software.

Install Everio MediaBrowser (Windows)

Everio MediaBrowser is included with your camera. It lets you archive and organize your videos. It also lets you create discs and upload video to YouTube, and other popular web sites. Preparation: 0 Load the provided CD-ROM into your PC. 0 In Windows Vista / Windows 7, the auto play dialog box appears. Click “Everio MediaBrowser 4”.

Everio MediaBrowser uses a calendar based interface that makes it easy to find any video you have recorded by selecting the appropriate date.

Follow the on-screen instructions.

Installation ends and icons are created on the desktop.

By connecting a USB cable between this unit and your computer, you can perform operations such as file backups to PC/disc or file uploads to file-sharing site using your computer. Preparation: Install the Everio MediaBrowser software onto the PC. 0 Disconnect the power supply to turn off the camera. 0 Connect the camera to the PC with the USB cable. File Backup (Windows)

Preparation: Install the Everio MediaBrowser software onto the PC. Make sure that enough space is left in the PC’s HDD. Disconnect the power supply to turn off the camera. Connect the camera to the PC with the USB cable. Reconnect the power supply to turn on the camera.

Tap “BACK UP” on the camera’s touch screen.

CONNECT TO PC Select the volume.

Tap “CONNECT TO PC” on the camera’s touch screen.

File backup is only supported by the provided software.

To view video that is still on your camera, click on Device>Camcorder in the left side panel of Everio MediaBrowser.

Working with iMovie and iPhoto

You may use the software supplied with the Mac Computer to view and edit files from the Camera.

Connect the Camera to the Mac Computer using a USB Cable. USB cable (Provided)

You can import files from this unit to a computer using Apple’s iMovie ’08, ’09 or ’11 (video) or iPhoto (still image). To verify the system requirements, select “About This Mac” from the Apple menu. You can determine the operating system version, processor and amount of memory.

Files must be transferred to the

Mac Computer for editing.

For details on how to use iMovie or iPhoto, refer to the help file of the software. There is no guarantee that the operations will work with all computer environments.

Simple File Backup with a Mac
