Frequently Asked Questions - Tone Studio HBS-W120 LG

How do I pair the LG HBS-W120 with my phone?

Turn on the headset by sliding the power switch to ON. The blue indicator lamp will flash and the headset enters search mode. On your phone, go to Bluetooth settings and select LG HBSW120. A voice prompt confirms connection. If pairing fails, press and hold the Call button while sliding the power switch to ON to manually enter search mode.

How can I check the battery level?

Press and hold the Previous (◀◀) button for a few seconds. The indicator lamp will flash and a voice prompt announces the battery status. Blue = sufficient, purple = normal, red = low.

What is Dual Play and how do I use it?

Dual Play lets you connect two HBS-W120 headsets to the same phone to share music. First, connect the first headset to your phone. Then on that headset, press and hold the Next (▶) and Play/Pause buttons simultaneously for over one second (Master). On the second headset, press and hold the Previous (◀) and Play/Pause buttons for over one second (Slave). An alert confirms connection. To disconnect, repeat the same button combination on either headset.

How do I switch between speaker and earphone mode?

Slide the Speaker/Earphones mode switch on the headset toward the desired direction. In speaker mode, only the upper right speaker is active during calls.

How do I activate the vibration speaker (Wearable Bass)?

While playing music, press and hold the Volume control wheel/button to cycle through equalizer modes: Bass (default) – strong vibration, Normal – moderate vibration, Treble – light vibration. The vibration speaker intensity changes accordingly.

Can I connect the HBS-W120 to two devices at the same time?

Yes, it supports multipoint connection. While connected to one device (main device), put the headset into search mode (press and hold Call button while sliding power ON) and pair with a second device. The last connected device becomes the main device. Note that Dual Play and multipoint cannot be used simultaneously.

Why is the sound volume low?

Check the volume level on both the headset (using the Volume control wheel/button) and the connected device. Also ensure the headset is not muted (press the Volume control wheel/button twice quickly to toggle mute). Adjust the equalizer mode if needed.

What should I do if the headset does not connect or works intermittently?

First, ensure the headset is charged and turned on. If not connecting, manually put it into search mode by pressing and holding the Call button while sliding power ON. If the device is out of range (over 33 feet/10 meters), move closer. For Dual Play issues, place both headsets within 1 foot (30 cm) of each other and follow the pairing procedure again.

Is the LG HBS-W120 waterproof?

No, the headset is not waterproof. Avoid exposure to water, humidity, sweat, alcohol, or benzene. Clean with a dry cloth and store in a dry place.

How do I use the LG Tone & Talk app with this headset?

Download LG Tone & Talk from Google Play store (Android only). After installation, you can access features like Current Time Alert, Voice Memo, speed dial, favorites, call history, and change voice prompt language. To use a function, select it in the app and then perform the specified button action on the headset (e.g., press and hold Next button for one second for Time Alert). Only one function can be active at a time.

The LG TONE Studio (HBS-W120) is a lightweight wireless stereo headset that uses Bluetooth technology.

This product can be used as an audio accessory for devices supporting either the A2DP or Hands-Free Bluetooth profile.

If the communication network of the device you are connecting to supports "HD Voice Calling," you can make voice calls in high definition.

NOTE: To prevent hearing loss, the control sound is played for a long time when controlling the volume at high volumes.

HBS-W120 Pairing and Connecting

You can easily pair and connect the device following the voice prompts from the earbuds or the speaker.

If you hear that the battery is insufficient, recharge the battery before proceeding with pairing.

If pairing is not completed within three minutes, power automatically turns off. When power automatically turns off, slide the Power switch from the OFF to the ON position to turn power on again.

Connecting Quickly

1 Slide the Power switch toward the ON position to turn on power.
2 The blue Indicator lamp turns on and HBS-W120 switches to Search mode.
3 From the mobile phone or device list, select LG HBSW120 to connect.
4 A voice message will indicate that the connection is completed.
5 Use the same process to pair HBS-W120 with other devices.

Connecting Manually (connecting to other devices or reconnecting)

1 Press and hold the Call button and slide the Power switch to the ON position to turn it on.
2 The blue Indicator lamp turns on and HBS-W120 switches to Search mode.
3 Select LG HBSW120 from the device list to connect.

Multiple Connections

HBS-W120 can be connected to two devices like a mobile phone and a PC, etc., and used on them simultaneously.

An additional device can be connected while HBS-W120 is connected to one device.

1 Press and hold the Call button and slide the Power switch to the ON position to turn it on.
2 The blue Indicator lamp turns on and HBS-W120 switches to Search mode.
3 From the mobile phone or device list, select LG HBSW120 to connect.
4 A voice message will indicate that the connection is completed. This device becomes the "Main Connected Device."
5 Try to connect to HBS-W120 using a previously connected device. This device becomes the "Sub Connected Device."

NOTE: If the HBS-W120 is simultaneously connected to two devices, the last connected device becomes the Main Connected Device. The main functions work based on the Main Connected Device.

Automatic Reconnection

If you turn on HBS-W120, it automatically connects to the previously connected device (Main Connected Device or Sub Connected Device). (If the product cannot find the device, it switches to Search mode.)

If the product does not automatically connect to the device you want, search HBS-W120 in the device you want to connect to and connect it manually.

Dual Play

You can connect two HBS-W120 headsets to listen to the same music.

1 Connect the first HBS-W120 to your mobile phone or device.
2 Press and hold the Next (▶) button and Play/Pause button of the first HBS-W120 simultaneously for more than one second. (This HBS-W120 becomes the Master headset.)

3 Press and hold the Previous () button and Play/Pause button of the second HBS-W120 simultaneously for more than one second. (This HBS-W120 becomes the Slave headset.)

4 An alert will indicate the connection status once the two HBS-W120 headsets are connected.

To disconnect Dual Play, press the Previous (◀) button or the Next (▶) button and the Play/Pause button simultaneously for at least one second.

NOTE: Dual Play supports both Android and iOS.

The music playback functions can only perform in the Master headset while Dual Play is activated. (Except Equalizer Mode Change and volume control)

If the Master headset and Slave headset are disconnected during Dual Play and they later enter an environment in which they can reconnect, they will automatically attempt a Dual Play connection.

Multi-connection is not available during Dual Play.

Wired connection (audio input terminal)

When the headset is turned on, use a wired connection through the audio input terminal to play music through speakers.

NOTE: When wired audio is connected, the Dual Play connection and the Bluetooth connection will be cut.

The audio cable is purchased separately and is not provided when purchasing the product. When the audio cable is disconnected, an automatic connection is established with the most recently connected device. (If no device is found, Search mode is activated.)

Earphones mode is unavailable when the audio cable is connected.

Use a portable 3.5 mm audio cable.

Pairing with TV and other devices (tablet, notebook PC, etc.)

You can connect and use HBS-W120 with TV and other devices that support the Bluetooth function. For details on how to connect, refer to the user manual supplied with the product.

NOTE: When making a mobile call in Speaker mode, only the speaker on the upper right hand side is active.

The strength of the bass and vibration is adjusted in stages depending on the equalizer mode.

Press and hold the Volume control wheel/button while playing audio (music) to change the equalizer mode.

Put on the product and turn on the Vibration Speaker to enjoy immersive surround sound and vibrations.

Out of Range

If the device connected to HBS-W120 is out of effective communication range (33 feet/10 meters), the communication signal becomes weak and the communication is lost.

If the device comes back within the effective communication range, the product automatically reconnects to HBS-W120.

If the device is not automatically reconnected, press the Call button on HBS-W120 to connect to it manually.

If a device that is not in use moves out of range in multi-connection mode, automatic reconnection function is not supported.

1. Radio frequency exposure

This Bluetooth Wireless Stereo Headset HBS-W120 is a radio transmitter and receiver. When in operation it communicates with a Bluetooth-equipped mobile device by receiving and transmitting radio frequency (RF) electromagnetic fields (microwaves) in the frequency range 2.4 to 2.4835 GHz. Your Bluetooth headset is designed to operate in compliance with the RF exposure guidelines and limits set by national authorities and international health agencies when used with any compatible LG Electronics mobile phone.

2. Bluetooth connection precautions

The following environments affect the range and reception of Bluetooth signals:

- When walls, metal, human bodies, or other obstacles exist between the Bluetooth device and the connected device.

- When equipment that uses 2.4 GHz frequency signals (wireless LANs, wireless phones, microwave ovens, etc.) is placed near the devices being used.

3. Potentially explosive atmosphere

Turn off your electronic device when in any area with a potentially explosive atmosphere. Although this is uncommon, your electronic device could generate sparks. Sparks in such areas could cause an explosion or fire resulting in bodily injury or even death. Areas with a potentially explosive atmosphere are often but not always clearly marked.

4. Emergency calls

IMPORTANT!

This Bluetooth headset and the electronic device connected to the headset operate using radio signals and mobile and landline networks as well as user-programmed functions, which cannot guarantee connection under all conditions. Therefore, you should never rely solely upon any electronic device for essential communications (e.g., medical emergencies). Remember, in order to make or receive calls, the headset and the electronic device connected to the headset must be switched on and in a service area with adequate mobile signal strength. Emergency calls may not be possible on all mobile phone networks or when certain network services and/or phone features are in use. Check with your local service provider.

5. Battery information

A rechargeable battery has a long service life if treated properly. A new battery or one that has not been used for a long period of time could have reduced capacity the first few times it is used. Do not expose the battery to extreme temperatures, never above +50°C (+122°F) or below -10°C (+14°F). For maximum battery capacity, use the battery at room temperature. If the battery is used in low temperatures, the battery capacity will be reduced. The battery can only be charged in temperatures between +10°C (+50°F) and +45°C (+113°F).

6. Recycling the battery in your Bluetooth headset

The battery in your Bluetooth headset must be disposed of properly and should never be placed in municipal waste. The LG Electronics service partner that removes the battery will dispose of it according to local regulations.

7. Conditions

- The warranty is valid only if the original receipt issued to the original purchaser by the dealer, specifying the date of purchase and serial number, is presented with the product to be repaired or replaced. LG Electronics reserves the right to refuse warranty service if this information has been removed or changed after the original purchase of the product from the dealer.

- If LG Electronics repairs or replaces the product, the repaired or replaced product shall be warranted for the remaining time of the original warranty period or for ninety (90) days from the date of repair, whichever is longer. Repair or replacement may involve the use of functionally equivalent reconditioned units. Replaced parts or components will become the property of LG Electronics.

- This warranty does not cover any failure of the product due to normal wear and tear, or due to misuse, including but not limited to use in other than the normal and customary manner, in

accordance with instructions for use and maintenance of the product. Nor does this warranty cover any failure of the product due to accident, modification or adjustment, acts of God, or damage resulting from liquid.

Limited Warranty

Subject to the conditions of this Limited Warranty, LG Electronics warrants this product to be free from defects in design, material, and workmanship at the time of its original purchase by a consumer, and for a subsequent period of one (1) year. Should your product need warranty service, please return it to the dealer from whom it was purchased or contact your local LG Electronics contact center to get further information.

Important Safety Information

Avoiding hearing damage

Permanent hearing loss may occur if you use your headset at a high volume.

Set the volume to a safe level. Over time you can become accustomed to a higher volume that may sound normal but can be damaging to your hearing.

If you experience ringing in your ears or muffled speech, stop listening and have your hearing checked. The louder the volume, the less time is required before your hearing could be affected.

Hearing experts suggest that to protect your hearing:

• Limit the amount of time you use the headset at high volume.
• Avoid turning up the volume to block out noisy surroundings.
• Turn the volume down if you can't hear people speaking near you.

Lower the volume before switching to Earphones mode from Speaker mode.

While in Speaker mode, do not listen to or adjust the volume with the headset placed close to your ears.

Using headsets safely

Use of headsets to listen to music while operating a vehicle is not recommended and is illegal in some areas. Be careful and attentive while driving. Stop using this device if you find it disruptive or distracting while operating any type of vehicle or performing any other activity that requires your full attention.
