How do I set the clock on my RCA RP4010?

Press SET repeatedly until the clock icon appears on the display. Then press << or >> to adjust the time. Hold the button for faster adjustment. The clock uses a 12-hour format, so check AM/PM.

How do I set the alarm (wake) time?

Press SET repeatedly until WAKE 1 or WAKE 2 flashes. Then press << or >> to set the wake time. Press SET again to exit. Note: you cannot set wake time while the radio is on.

How do I change the wake mode from radio to CD or tone?

Why is the display blinking after a power outage?

A blinking display indicates that AC power was interrupted and the clock/alarm settings may have been reset. You need to readjust the time and alarm settings. To avoid this, install 2 AAA batteries for backup (not included).

How do I use the CD player?

Press OPEN to open the CD compartment, insert a 5-inch CD (label side up), and close the door. Press Play/pause to start playback. Use Rev or Fwd to skip tracks, or hold to search. Press STOP to stop. The unit supports repeat, shuffle, and repeat shuffle modes via CD MODE.

How do I preset radio stations?

Tune to the desired station using << or >>. Press SET once, then press MEMO RECALL repeatedly to choose a preset number (1-10 or AL for alarm station). Press SET again to confirm. To recall presets, press MEMO RECALL.

How does the snooze function work?

When the alarm sounds, press SNOOZE to silence it temporarily. The default snooze period is 9 minutes, but you can adjust it from 1 to 30 minutes by holding SNOOZE and pressing << or >>. The alarm will reappear after the set period. Snooze can be used repeatedly for up to 2 hours total.

What is the Weekend Cancel feature?

Weekend Cancel disables the wake alarms on Saturdays and Sundays while keeping them active Monday through Friday. To activate, press and hold WEEKEND CANCEL for 5 seconds until the icon appears on the display. Press and hold again to deactivate.

How do I adjust the display brightness?

When not in CD or radio mode, press << or >> to adjust the dimmer level. The default is the brightest setting. You can change it to a lower brightness for nighttime.

What should I do if the CD player shows 'nd'?

'nd' means no disc detected. This can happen if no disc is inserted, the disc is scratched or upside down, or a non-compatible disc (e.g., MP3 CD) is used. Ensure you use a standard 5-inch audio CD. If the problem persists, try cleaning the disc or the lens.

Battery Back-Up Operation

This clock radio is equipped with a memory holding system that can be powered with 2 "AAA" batteries (not included). The power failure protection circuit will not operate unless battery is installed.

When normal household power is interrupted, or the AC line cord is unplugged, the battery will power the clock radio to keep track of time and alarm settings programmed into memory. When the battery backup functions, the digital display will not light, however, the function of alarm still occurs during the power interruption if the remaining battery power is adequate. Normal operation will resume after AC power is restored so you will not have to reset the time or the alarm.

Install battery as follow:

1. Unlock the battery compartment door (located at the bottom of the radio) by sliding the tab away from the door.
2. Remove the battery compartment door.
3. Insert 2 "AAA" batteries.
4. Replace the compartment door and slide the tab to lock battery compartment.

Power Failure Indicator

When AC power is interrupted (disconnected) for a short period of time, both time and alarm settings will change (unless optional battery is installed). After AC power is restored (reconnected), the Digital Display will blink to indicate that power was interrupted and you should readjust the time and alarm settings.

Setting Clock Time

Your digital clock operates on a 12-hour standard mechanism. AM or PM will show on the display accordingly.

When you first turn on the unit:

1. The clock icon 📋 shows on the display
2. Press << or >> to set the clock time. When you press and hold << or >>, the time decrements or increments will follow by a faster rate.

Or you can adjust the clock anytime by following below procedures:

Antennas

FM antenna - The power cord acts as your FM antenna. It picks up moderate to strong radio stations and eliminates the need for an external antenna in most strong signal areas. Be sure the power cord is stretched to its full length. Do not coil or bunch the cord together. Changing position of the power cord may improve reception.

AM Antenna - A built-in ferrite rod antenna eliminates the need for an outside antenna for AM reception. Rotating the unit slightly may improve reception of distant AM stations.

Tuning the Stations

1. Plug the power cord into any 120V AC household outlet.
2. Press RADIO ON/BAND (located on the top of the radio) to turn on the radio.
3. Press RADIO ON/BAND to select the desired broadcast band.
4. Press << or >> to tune to your desired radio station.
5. Press OFF to turn off the radio.

Setting the Preset Radio Stations

1. Press RADIO ON/BAND to turn on the radio.
2. Press RADIO ON/BAND to change the broadcast band.
3. Press << or >> to tune to your desired radio station.
4. If you want to memorize this radio station, press SET once, and then press MEMO RECALL repeatedly to choose the radio station number you want to record in.
5. Press SET again to confirm.
6. If you set the radio station in the AL location, it will be the wake up radio station of the alarm.

This unit can store up to 11 preset radio stations, while AL location is for the wake up radio station.

Automatic Radio Station Search

1. Press RADIO ON/BAND (located on the top of the radio) to turn on the radio.
2. Press and hold << or >> for 2 seconds, it will automatically search a radio station for you.

Selecting the Preset Radio Stations

1. Press RADIO ON/BAND to turn on the radio.
2. Press MEMO RECALL repeatedly to select your desired preset radio station.

Overwriting the Preset Radio Stations

1. First, press << or >> to tune your desired preset radio station.
2. Press SET once and then press MEMO RECALL repeatedly to choose the radio station number you want to overwrite.
3. Press SET again to confirm.

Deleting the Preset Radio Stations

1. Press MEMO RECALL repeatedly to select your preset radio station you want to delete.
2. Press and hold SET for 3 seconds to delete the selected preset radio station.

Operating the Alarm

Setting the Wake Time

1. Press SET repeatedly until WAKE 1

/1/1 or WAKE 2 /2/2 icon flashes on the display.

1. Press << or >> to set the wake time. The time decrements or increments will follow by a faster rate when you press and hold either << or >>.
2. Press SET repeatedly to exit setting wake time mode.

The unit equips with GRAD=U-WAKEUeWAKEthe alarm tone volume will increase gradually to its maximum in about 30 to 45 seconds.

When the AC power is disconnected, the unit will enter DC backup mode, all wake mode will be reverted

to alarm tone.

Selecting Wake Mode

To change to another wake mode (e.g. from CD to radio), simply press WAKE 1 or WAKE 2 repeatedly to scroll through

wake options.

Waking to Alarm Tone

When waking to alarm tone is selected, the 🔔 icon is displayed.

The unit is equipped with GRAD-U-WAKE feature, the alarm tone volume will increase gradually to its maximum in about 30 to 45 seconds.

Tip: Tip:

If you set the SLEEP function with low volume level before going to bed, we advise using Waking to Alarm Tone mode to wake you up since the volume will automatically increase.

3. Press and hold WAKE UP Station / Track to store the current radio station as the wake up radio station. Will show on the display.

"AL" refers to the Alarm Station. If no WAKE

STATION is set, the wake

up radio station will stay at your last listening radio station.

Waking to CD

When the waking to CD is selected, the icon is displayed.

1. Set wake time (see directions on the previous page).

2. Press WAKE 1 or WAKE 2 to select waking up by CD ☐.

3. Rotate VOLUME CONTROL to your desired wake up volume.
4. Press OFF to turn off the radio.

You can select your CD wake up track by the following procedures.

1. In CD mode, while pressing WAKE UP Station / Track, press << or >> to select your desired CD wake up track.

Turning off Alarm

Silence the alarm momentarily

Press SNOOZE. The alarm will sound again when the snooze period is over. (see "Snooze" on page 13).

Stop the alarm

Press OFF. Then, the alarm will be on the following day at the same time.

Disable the alarm permanently

1. Press CANCEL.
2. The WAKE 1 📋/ɪ/① or WAKE 2 📋/ɪ/② icon will flash, while it is flashing, press WAKE 1 or WAKE 2 to cancel the alarm. Corresponding WAKE indicator will disappear.
3. To activate the alarm again, press WAKE 1 or WAKE 2, and the WAKE indicator will appear.

You can activate the previous wake settings by pressing WAKE 1 WAKEWAKE 2.

Operating the CD Player

Listening to Compact Disc

1. Press OPEN to open the CD compartment.
2. Insert a disc, the compartment will automatically close.
3. Press Play/pause.
4. Adjust volume to your desired level.
5. Press Rev or Fwd to skip backward or forward the CD track.
6. Press and hold Rev or Fwd to search forward or backward the CD track.
7. Press STOP to stop CD playback.

"nd" will show on the display when no disc is detected. (e.g. scratched CD or mp3 disc is inserted)

Setting Sleep Time

In sleep mode, the radio and CD will turn off automatically. To set the sleep time, simply:

1. Press SLEEP, then the time display will exhibit 0:59.
2. While holding SLEEP, press << or >> to set the sleep time. The time range is from 1 minute to 2 hours.
3. Release SLEEP and the current time will be shown again.

Sleep to Radio

Turn on the radio after setting the sleep time, you may select the radio station as usual. Once the sleep time is reached, the radio will turn off automatically. Sleep radio station will automatically switch to the last sleep radio station setting. You must reset to sleep to a different radio station.

1. Press RADIO ON/BAND.
2. Press << or >> to tune to the radio station you want to sleep to.

Sleep to CD

Press Play/pause after setting the sleep time to begin CD playback. The unit will turn off automatically once the sleep time is reached.

Viewing Remaining Time

Press SLEEP to read the remaining sleep time.

Tip: Tip:

If you decide to turn off the unit sooner, press SNOOZE or

OFF.

Tip: Tip:

When SLEEP SLEEPvated again, the sleep time will be the same as the one you

have set before.

Alarm Settings

Nap Mode

For catnaps up to 2 hours without disturbing the regular alarm settings, the NAP function wakes you up after a short period of time. Simply:

1. Press NAP, the NAP indicator will flash. While the NAP indicator is flashing, press << or >> to adjust nap time. The time range is from 10 minutes to 2 hours at 10 minutes interval.
2. Press NAP again to confirm, the NAP indicator will show on the display.
3. Press NAP once to show time left.

Stopping the Nap Alarm

When the NAP alarm sounds, you can press OFF to stop it.

Cancelling the Nap Alarm

Press and hold NAP for 5 seconds to cancel the nap setting.

Tip: Tip:

Only alarm tone can be selected in NAP mode.

Snooze

This operation allows extra sleep time after the alarm is on. The alarm will be off by pressing SNOOZE until the snooze period is over. Snooze function can be used repeatedly up to 2 hours. After this, the alarm will turn off until the next alarm conditions are met. Set the "quiet" period as follows:

1. While pressing SNOOZE, press << or >> to set the "quiet" period (the default time is 9 minutes) from 1 minute to 30 minutes. Release button, then the "quiet" period is set.

Weekend Cancel

Wake settings are activated during Mon to Fri, but are cancelled on Sat and Sun. (Work only when wake setting is active)

1. Press and hold WEEKEND CANCEL for 5 seconds.
2. The WEEKEND CANCEL icon will appear on the display.
3. Press and hold WEEKEND CANCEL for 5 seconds to disable the Weekend Cancel function.

Adjusting the Dimmer

Press << or >> to adjust dimmer level. Default is the brightest.

Note: Note:

You cannot adjust the dimmer in CD and radio mode.
