20. Do not attempt any maintenance on your

lawnmower when the engine is hot.

Keep all nuts, bolts and screws tight to be sure the lawnmower is in safe working condition. Check the grass collector frequently for wear or deterioration. Replace worn or damaged parts for safety. . Only use the replacement blade, blade bolt, spacer and impeller specified for this product. Never store the lawnmower with fuel in the tank inside a building where fumes can reach an open flame or spark. … Allow the engine to cool before storing in any enclosure. To reduce fire hazard, keep the engine, silencer, battery compartment and fuel storage area free of grass, leaves or excessive grease. If the fuel tank has to be drained, this should be done outdoors. Be careful during adjustment of the machine to prevent entrapment of the fingers between moving blades and fixed parts of the machine. Assembly Instructions Handle Assembly ing the Lower handle to the Lawnmower Remove handle knobs. Fit the lower handle ensuring that the formed ends are located properly in corresponding slots either side of the lawnmower.(A1)

3. Secure the handle with the plastic washers and

handle knobs provided. Make sure that the Lower Pull Cord Guide is on the right-hand side when viewed from the rear. Fitting the Upper Handle to the Lower Handle

1. Attach the upper handlebar.

2. Insert the bolts from the inside.(A2)

Note: Place washer between wing nut and handiebar. Recoil Starter

Disconnect the spark plug lead. Pull the Operator Presence Control to release the brake on the engine. (1 - R 43) (82 - R 43S/SE) Locate cord in the pull cord guide on the lower handle.(B3). Locate cord in the pull cord guide on the upper handle.(B4) You must release the brake by pulling the OPC lever to the handle before pi g out the cord. ENGLISH

Assembly Instructions Grassbox Assembly Assembling the Grassbox Screen + Do not cut or separate the 3 parts of the grassbox screen. Fold the screen sides inwards.(C1)

2. Align the matching tabs and slots and press

firmly together. Ensure clips are engaged. The assembled screen should appear as illustrated.(C2) Fitting the Grassbox Screen to the Grassbox Lower Locate the tabs on the bottom of the grassbox screen into the slots in the base of the grassbox lower and push home.(C3) Fitting the Grassbox Li

1. Place the upper lid onto the lower grassbox.(C4)

2. Align the clips with the slots. Push the two

halves together, starting from the rear of the box and working forward.(C5) Ensure that all clips are securely connected. Fitting Fully Assembled Grassbox to Lawnmower

1. Lift safety flap. Locate lugs of the full assembled

grassbox into the slots in the top of the deck. Fit location studs on safety flap into location holes on grassbox lid.(C6) + Removal is the reverse procedure. Please Note :- Ensure no gap remains between the safety flap and the grassbox Where grass collection is not required you can use the lawnmower without the grassbox. Ensure the safety flap is fully closed Grass Collection Indicator

IMPORTANT! The machine must be running for the grass collection indicator to operate. Follow instructions in the Use - starting and stopping section. Your lawnmower has a grass collection indicator which tells you when the grassbox needs emptying. When the indicator is visible, grass is being collected.(C7) When the indicator starts to drop it's time to empty the grassbox.(C8) Release the OPC Lever and remove the grassbox for emptying. Emptying the Grassbox

Hold the grassbox as illustrated.(C9) Loose grass will automatically clear on restarting the machine. If the ball indicator does not rise, then manually clean out the discharge shoot. Ensure the discharge chute is clean and free from debris. Engine Notes oil

1. Check oil level periodically and after every five

2. Add oil as necessary to keep the level to the

FULL mark on the dipstick.

3. Use a good quality SAE 30 four stroke oil

4. To fill with oil:

a) Remove oil filer cap.(D1) b) Fill to the FULL mark on the dipstick.(D2)

5. Change the oil after the first five hours operation

and thereafter every 25 working hours.

6. Always change the oil while the engine is warm -

but not hot - never attempt any maintenance on a hot engine. Petrol

Use fresh regular grade lead free petrol.

NEVER USE LEADED PETROL

Using leaded petrol will make the exhaust smoke and cause irreparable damage to engines fitted with a catalytic converter. Do not fill the fuel tank when the engine is hot. Do not fill the fuel tank while smoking. Do not fill the fuel tank while the engine is running. To avoid introducing dirt into the fuel system, wipe all grass and dirt from the petrol filler cap before unscrewing it.(E1) It is recommended that you fill the tank through a funnel with a filter.(E2) Wipe away spillages before starting. Please Note :- move the product away from the fuelling area before starting Starting - Priming the Engine Please Note:- When starting the engine for the first time, fill with oil and petrol as described above in the Oil and Petrol section. Priming is usually unnecessary when restarting a warm engine. However, cool weather may require priming to be repeated. Starting the engine for the first time

1. Advance engine speed control to FAST ‘ #' as

ilustrated in the Use - starting and stopping section.

cord, push primer bulb three times and repeat step 3. Starting engine thereafter

2. Move the Engine Speed Control to the FAST

3. Pull the operator presence control (OPC) to release

the brake on the engine and the blade.(G2)

4. Pull the recoil starter fully towards you until you feel

the full resistance, return the handle slowly then pull the handle firmly towards you to its full extent.(G3)

5. After the engine has started, allow to run for 30

seconds before commencing to use Stopping

1. Forward drive is engaged and disengaged with

the Powerdrive lever at the top of the handle.(G7)

2. Releasing the Powerdrive Lever stops the

Starting & Stopping R 43SE Starting

1. Follow steps 1-3 for the R 43S

2. Tum the key and hold until the engine starts.(G8) The

key wil retum to the original position when released.

Start mowing from the outside edge of the lawn! mowing in strips in alternate directions. Mow twice a week in the growing season, your lawn will suffer if more that one third of its length is cut at one time and this may also result in poor collection. 1. Pull the height adjustment lever away from the

Maintenance IMPORTANT Release the Operator Presence Control, to stop the engine, wait until the blade has stopped and connect the spark plug lead: - before clearing a blockage; - before checking, cleaning or working on the appliance IMPORTANT Never use water for cleaning your lawnmower. Do not clean with chemical, including petrol, or solvents - some can destroy critical plastic parts. Cleaning Disconnect the spark plug lead. Turn machine on its side with the exhaust uppermost Remove grass from under the deck with à brush.(L1 and L2) Using a soft brush - remove grass clippings from the engine air intakes and exhaust (L3), cutting height adjustment area, around the wheels (LA) and the grass collector. Wipe over the surface of your lawnmower with a dry cloth.

2. Re-assemble blade boit through blade and

spacer washer. Hold firmly and tighten blade boit firmly with a spanner. Do not over tighten. IMPORTANT Do not attempt any maintenance on your lawnmower when the engine is hot Always handle the blade with care - sharp edges could cause injury. USE GLOVES. Renew your metal blade after 50 hours mowing or 2 years whichever is the sooner - regardiess of condition. If the blade is cracked or damaged replace it with a new one. ENGLISH - 4

Maintenance How to Charge the Battery (R 43SE) N1 - Wiring Loom N2 - Charging Point N3 - Cap

1. Stop your lawnmower.

2. Disconnect the spark plug.

3. Remove the cap from the charging point at the

bottom of the wiring loom.(N)

4. Plug charger lead into connection on battery

5. Plug the battery charger into a domestic electric

6. Charging will then commence

7. Charge for 24 hours.

8. After charging, disconnect the charger from the

socket and charging point (N)

9. Replace the cap on the charging point-(N)

10. The unit is now ready for use:
