Frequently Asked Questions - CF-32-150-W TELEFUNKEN

How do I adjust the temperature on my Telefunken CF-32-150-W fridge?
The thermostat knob is located inside the refrigerator compartment. Turn it from position 1 (warmest) to 5 (coldest) to adjust the temperature. For short-term storage, use 1-3; for long-term storage, use 3-4. Avoid turning beyond position 1, as this stops the appliance. Allow 24 hours after first use for the temperature to stabilize.
How do I defrost the freezer compartment?
Defrost the freezer compartment at least twice a year. The day before, set the thermostat to position 5 to freeze food completely. Then turn the thermostat to the off position (•) or unplug the unit. Leave the door open until defrosted. To speed up, place bowls of warm water inside. After defrosting, dry the interior and set the thermostat to MAX. Use the plastic scraper provided to remove frost.
What should I do if the refrigerator is not cooling properly?
Check that the appliance is plugged in and the thermostat is not in the off position. Ensure the doors are fully closed and not opened frequently. Verify that the condenser is clean (dust-free) and there is at least 15 cm of space above and 5 cm from heat sources. Also confirm the ambient temperature is within 16-32 °C (climate class N). If the problem persists, contact an authorized service agent.
Can I change the door opening direction?
On models with front-mounted handles, the door opening direction cannot be changed. On handleless models, it may be possible. Contact an authorized service agent to have the door reversed, as this requires professional adjustments.
How do I clean the fridge?
Disconnect the appliance from power before cleaning. Use a solution of warm water and a teaspoon of bicarbonate of soda. Rinse with clean water and dry carefully. Do not use abrasive products, detergents, or pour water into the appliance. Clean the condenser with a broom at least twice a year. Clean the drain hole periodically with the defrost plug.
Why is my fridge making a bubbling noise?
A slight bubbling or gurgling sound is normal as the refrigerant circulates through the system, even when the compressor is off. If the noise is unusual, check that the appliance is level, nothing is touching the rear, and items on top are not vibrating. If excessive, contact service.
What should I do during a power cut?
To prevent damage to the compressor, unplug the refrigerator. When power returns, wait 5-10 minutes before plugging it back in. Avoid opening the door to keep food cold longer. If the power cut is prolonged, consume perishable items promptly.
How do I make ice cubes?
Fill the ice tray with water and place it in the freezer compartment. Once the water is frozen (typically after a few hours), twist the flexible tray to release the ice cubes. Do not eat ice immediately after removal as it may cause frost burns.
What is the energy consumption and efficiency of this fridge?
The Telefunken CF-32-150-W has an energy class of A+++, the most efficient. Its annual energy consumption is 62 kWh per year based on standard test conditions. Actual consumption depends on usage, door openings, and ambient temperature. To save energy, avoid frequent door openings and keep the appliance away from heat sources.
How do I replace the light bulb?
For incandescent bulbs: unplug the fridge, press the hooks on the sides of the light cover to remove it, replace with a bulb of max 15 W, refit the cover, wait 5 minutes, then plug in. If your model has LED lighting, contact authorized service for replacement as it must be done by professionals.

Defrosting the Refrigerator Compartment

TELEFUNKEN CF-32-150-W - Defrosting the Refrigerator Compartment - 1

natural_image Technical line drawing of a mechanical component and its magnified cross-section showing internal components (no text or symbols)
  • Defrosting occurs automatically in the refrigerator compartment during operation; the water is collected by the evaporation tray and evaporates automatically.
  • The evaporation tray and the water drain hole should be cleaned periodically with the defrost drain plug to prevent the water from collecting at the bottom of the refrigerator instead of flowing out.
  • You can also clean the drain hole by pouring 1/2 glass of water down it.

Freezer Compartment;

The frost, accumulated in the freezer compartment, should be removed periodically (Use the plastic scraper provided). The freezer compartment should be cleaned in the same way as the refrigerator compartment, with the defrost function of the compartment at least twice a year.

For this:

  • The day before you defrost, set the thermostat dial to "5" position to freeze the food completely.
  • During defrosting, frozen food should be wrapped in several layers of paper and kept in a cool place. The inevitable rise in temperature will shorten its storage life. Remember to use this food within a relatively short period of time.
  • Set the thermostat knob to position “•” or unplug the unit. Leave the door open until the unit is completely defrosted.
  • To accelerate the defrosting process, one or more bowls of warm water can be placed in the freezer compartment.
  • Dry the inside of the unit carefully and set the thermostat knob to the MAX position.

Replacing The Light Bulb

MAX 15W MAX 65W

When replacing the light of the refrigerator compartment;

  1. Unplug the unit from the power supply,
  2. Press the hooks on the sides of the light cover top and remove the light cover
  3. Change the present light bulb with a new one of not more than 15 W.
  4. Replace the light cover and after waiting 5 minutes plug the unit.

Replacing LED Lighting

If your refrigerator has LED lighting contact the help desk as this should be changed by authorized personnel only.

PART-4. TRANSPORTATION AND CHANGING OF INSTALLATION POSITION

Transportation and Changing of Installation Position

natural_image Simple line drawing of two children playing a game with a large block (no text or symbols)

Carry your fridge in the upright position.

Repositioning the door

  • It is not possible to change the opening direction of your refrigerator door, if the door handle on your refrigerator is installed from the front surface of the door.
  • It is possible to change the opening direction of the door on models without any handles.
  • If the door opening direction of your refrigerator may be changed, you should contact the nearest Authorised Service Agent to have the opening direction changed.

PART-5. BEFORE CALLING YOUR AFTER SALES SERVICE

If your refrigerator is not operating as expected, check the solutions listed below before calling an electrician or the after sales service.

What to do if your refrigerator does not operate:

Check that:

  • Your fridge is plugged in and switched on,
  • The fuse is not blown and there is not a power cut,
  • The thermostat setting is in the on « • » position,
  • The socket is no longer functioning. To check this, plug in an appliance that you know is working into the same socket.

What to do if your refrigerator performs poorly:

Check that:

  • You have not overloaded the appliance,
    • The doors are fully closed,
  • There is no dust on the condenser,
  • There is enough space for air circulation at the rear and side of the appliance.

If the appliance is making a noise:

The cooling gas which circulates in the refrigerator circuit may make a slight noise (bubbling sound) even when the compressor is not running. This is normal. If these sounds are different check that:

• The appliance is level,
- Nothing is touching the rear of the appliance,
- Items on or in the appliance are vibrating.

If there is water in the lower part of the refrigerator:

Check that:

The drain hole for the defrost water is not clogged (use the defrost drain plug to clean the drain hole).

If your fridge is not cooling enough;

Your fridge is designed to operate within specific ambient temperature ranges, according to the climate class stated on the information label. We do not recommend operating your fridge outside the stated temperatures value limits.

IMPORTANT NOTES:

  • In the event of a power cut, to prevent any damage to the compressor we recommend that you unplug the refrigerator. Delay plugging it back in for 5 – 10 minutes after the power supply returns. If you unplug the refrigerator for any reason, wait at least 5 minutes before plugging it back in to avoid damage to refrigerator's components.
  • The cooling unit of your refrigerator is located in the rear wall. Water droplets or icing may occur on the rear surface of your fridge due to the operation of the compressor. This is normal. There is no need to perform a defrosting operation unless the icing is excessive.

- If the appliance is not used for long time (for example during holidays) set the thermostat knob to the «•» position. Defrost and clean the refrigerator, leaving the door open to prevent the formation of midew and smell.

- If the problem persists after you have followed all the instructions above, please consult to the nearest Authorised Service.

- The appliance you have purchased is designed for home use and can be used only at home and for the stated purposes. It is not suitable for commercial or common use. If the consumer uses the appliance in a way that does not comply with these instructions, we emphasise that the producer and the dealer shall not be responsible for any repair or failure within the guarantee period.

- The lifetime of your appliance as stated and declared by the Department of the Industry (the period for retaining parts required for the proper functioning of the appliance) is 10 years.

Tips For Saving Energy

  1. Install the appliance in a cool, well ventilated room, but not in direct sunlight and not near a heat source (radiator, cooker.. etc). Otherwise use an insulating plate.

  2. Allow warm food and drinks to cool down outside the appliance.

  3. When thawing frozen food, place it in the refrigerator compartment. The low temperature of the frozen food will help to cool the refrigerator compartment when it is thawing. This will help to save energy. If the frozen food is put out, it results in a waste of energy.

  4. Cover drinks or other liquids when placing them in the appliance Otherwise humidity increases in the appliance. Therefore, the working time gets longer. Also covering drinks and other liquids helps to preserve smell and taste.

  5. Try to avoid keeping the doors open for long periods or opening the doors too frequently as warm air will enter the cabinet and cause the compressor to switch on unnecessarily often.

  6. Keep the covers of the different temperature compartments (crisper, chiller ...etc) closed

  7. Door gasket must be clean and pliable. Replace gaskets if worn.
