General safety instructions

DANGER: Risk of burns
- Never touch the kettle (4) housing during or immediately after operation. Only ever hold or carry the kettle (4) using the handle (8).
- When the water boils, hot steam will be emitted. Be careful not to burn yourself. Wear oven gloves if necessary. Rotate the kettle (4) so that the steam is directed away from you.
- Clean the kettle (4) only after it has completely cooled down.
- Fill the kettle (4) with 1.7l of water maximum. See the water level indicator (3) to help with this. Overfilling can result in the kettle boiling over and could cause burns or damage to property.
- Only boil water with the lid (10) closed. Otherwise the water could boil over and cause burns and property damage.
- Do not open the lid (10) while the water is being heated.

WARNING about property damage
- The kettle (4) should only be used with the corresponding base (5).
- Never place any objects on the base (5).
- Only operate the kettle on an even, stable and heat-resistant surface. If the kettle is not placed on an even surface the movement of the boiling water could make it tip over causing damage to property and burns.
- Never leave the kettle unattended during operation.
- Disconnect the mains plug from the wall outlet when the kettle is unattended.

DANGER: Risk of electric shock
- The power cord (7) must not be damaged. Never replace a damaged power cord (7), instead contact our hotline (see "Warranty information" section). There is a risk of electric shock in the case of a damaged power cord (7).
- Do not open the base (5) housing - it contains no serviceable parts. Opening the housing can expose you to the risk of electric shock.
- If you notice any smoke, unusual noises or strange smells, switch off the kettle immediately and remove the mains plug from the wall outlet. If this occurs, the kettle should no longer be used until it has been inspected by authorized service personnel. Never inhale smoke from a possible appliance
fire. If you do inadvertently inhale smoke, seek medical attention. Smoke inhalation can be damaging to your health.
- Make sure that the power cord (7) cannot be damaged by sharp edges or hot spots. After use, always wind the power cord (7) back around the cord wrap underneath the base (5).
- Make sure that the power cord (7) cannot become crushed or squashed.
- The appliance must always be disconnected from the mains when left unsupervised and before assembly, disassembly or cleaning.
- When disconnecting the power supply from the wall outlet, always pull on the mains plug and never on the power cord (7) itself.
- If you notice visible damage to the kettle or the power cord (7), switch the appliance off immediately, disconnect the mains plug from the wall outlet and contact our hotline (see "Warranty information" section).
- Only connect the base (5) to a properly installed, easily accessible wall outlet whose mains voltage corresponds to that on the rating plate. After connecting the appliance, the wall outlet must still be easily accessible so that you can remove the mains plug quickly in the event of an emergency
- Never immerse the base (5) in water or other liquids. If liquid does penetrate the base (5), disconnect the mains plug from the wall outlet immediately and contact our hotline (see "Warranty information" section).

DANGER: Risk of fire
Fill the kettle (4) with at least 0.5l of water. If insufficient water is added, there is a risk of fire due to overheating.

Before you start
Remove the SWKS 2200 D1 Stainless Steel Electric Kettle and all accessories from the packaging and check that the package contents are complete. Remove all protective films. Keep the packaging material away from children and dispose of appropriately.
Getting started
Before preparing water for consumption for the first time, you must first clean the kettle (4) to remove dust and any residues from the packaging materials. Proceed as follows:
- Open the lid (10) by pressing the lid release button (9) and rinse the kettle (4) with clean water.
- Fill the kettle (4) with drinking water up to the "1.7l MAX" mark.
- Close the lid (10) by pressing down until it clicks into place and allow the water to boil once (see next step "Boiling water") then pour it away.
Repeat steps 1 to 3 once more. The kettle (4) is then clean and disinfected. The kettle (4) is now ready for use.
Boiling water

DANGER: Risk of electric shock
Keep the base (5) away from water. Otherwise there is a risk of lethal electric shock.

WARNING
On the very first use, boil and pour away water twice (see previous section "Getting started").

WARNING
Always use fresh drinking water. Discard any water left to stand in the kettle (4) for longer than one hour.
Cord wrap
There is an integrated cord wrap on the underside of the base (5). This enables you to adjust the power cord (7) length to suit your conditions.
When the kettle is not in use you can reduce the cord length to a minimum here.

- Unwind the power cord (7) underneath the base (5).
- Place the base (5) on an even, non-slip and dry surface. Note that the power cord (7) must be fed through one of the notches provided on the underside of the base (5) to ensure stable positioning.

WARNING
If the power cord (7) is not fed through one of the notches provided on the underside of the base (5), the base (5) and kettle (4) will not be stable. The movement of the boiling water could make the kettle (4) tip over causing severe damage to property and personal injury!
- Open the lid (10) by pressing the lid release button (9).
"Minimum fill level" indicator
The minimum water fill level is 0.5 litres. This low level is not visible on the outer water level indicator (3).
A special mark indicating the exact minimum fill level can therefore be seen inside the kettle (4) while filling with water. This mark inside the kettle (4) is visible when the lid (10) is open.

- Fill the kettle (4) with drinking water, at least up to the "MIN 0.5L" mark inside and up to the "1.7L MAX" mark on the water level indicator (3) and close the lid (10) by pressing it down until it clicks into place.

When the kettle (4) is placed on the base (5), it can be freely rotated 360^ around the vertical axis. It does not need to engage in a certain position. This allows you to rotate the kettle (4) such that you can easily check the water level indicator (3) and rotate the kettle (4) so that the steam is directed away from you.
- Plug the mains plug into an easily accessible wall outlet.
- Place the kettle (4) onto the base (5) and press the ON/OFF switch (6) down to switch the kettle (4) on. The power indicator integrated into the ON/OFF switch (6) lights up blue. The kettle (4) will make noises during the heating process. This is not a malfunction.

DANGER: Risk of burns
Rotate the kettle (4) so that the steam is directed away from you. Otherwise you could get burnt.
Only boil water with the lid (10) closed. Otherwise the kettle (4) could boil over and cause burns and property damage.
- As soon as the water boils, the kettle (4) turns off. The ON/OFF switch (6) returns to the up position automatically and the integrated power indicator goes out.
- Disconnect the power cord (7) plug from the wall outlet, remove the kettle (4) from the base (5) and pour the water out.

DANGER: Risk of burns
Never touch the kettle (4) housing during or immediately after operation. Only hold or carry the kettle (4) using the handle (8).
When the water boils, hot steam will be emitted. Be careful not to burn yourself. Wear oven gloves if necessary. Rotate the kettle (4) so that the steam is directed away from you.
Maintenance / cleaning

DANGER: Risk of burns
Wait until the kettle (4) is completely cool before cleaning it. Otherwise you could get burnt.

DANGER: Risk of electric shock
Always remove the mains plug from the socket before cleaning. Failure to do so could cause an electric shock.
Do not pour or spray any liquids onto the base (5) and do not immerse it in water or other liquids. This could cause short circuits which could cause electric shocks or burns.

WARNING about property damage
Do not use abrasive or astringent detergents or tools which could scratch the surface (e.g. metal sponges). This can cause damage to the kettle (4).
- Rinse the kettle (4) out with clean water.
- Clean the exterior or the kettle (4) and the base (5) with a slightly damp cloth. For stubborn dirt add a little detergent to the damp cloth. Make sure there are no detergent residues on the kettle (4) or the base (5) before operating the kettle (4) again. Dry the kettle (4) and base (5) well before using again.

To remove stubborn dirt inside the kettle (4) you can use a long-handled dishwashing brush or bottle brush.
Descaling the kettle (4)
Over time, limescale can build up in the kettle (4). This can result in energy loss and reduce the lifespan of the kettle (4). Limescale should therefore be removed as soon as it becomes visible.
- Use a descaling agent suitable for coffee machines and other household appliances. Proceed as described in the instructions for using the descaling agent.
• After descaling, rinse the kettle (4) out multiple times with plenty of clean water.
Cleaning the scale filter (1)
A scale filter (1) is installed in the kettle (4) that needs to be cleaned from time to time. Clean the scale filter (1) as follows:
- Remove the cooled kettle (4) from the base (5).
- Open the lid (10) by pressing the lid release button (9)
- Carefully reach into the kettle (4), take hold of the top edge of the scale filter (1) and pull it upwards out of the holder (2). Please note that the holder (2) must not be removed.
- Place the scale filter (1) into a warm descaling solution for household appliances (e.g. for coffee machines) for a few hours and then rinse it well in clean water.
- Replace the scale filter (1) by inserting it into the lateral guides on the holder (2) from above.

- Close the lid (10) by pressing down on it until it clicks into place.
Storage when not using the product
If the kettle is not to be used for an extended period, store it in a clean and dry place.
- Allow the kettle (4) to cool completely before storing it.
- Wrap the power cord (7) around the cord wrap under the base (5) and store the kettle in a safe and dust-free place.
