PROPERTIES OF YOUR NEW DESIGN MIXER MINI
Your new Design Mixer Mini is intended for chopping solid food (e.g. onions, carrots, apples) mixing beverages, sauces, and soups, and stirring runny batters (e.g. for pancake or waffles). However, please keep in mind that the Design Mixer Mini cannot substitute all other kitchen utensils. The appliance is NOT suited for puréeing potatoes, beating egg whites, making minced meat, extracting the juice of fruits and vegetables, kneading very heavy dough (e.g. yeast dough), or grinding very hard ingredients (e.g. nuts, hard chocolate).
TIPS FOR PROCESSING
- Pour liquid ingredients first in the Design Mixer Mini, if not specified otherwise in the recipe.
- Cut solid foods (vegetables, fruits, cheese, cooked meats, fish and seafood) in approx. 2 cm pieces. Do not overload the motor with too hard or too large ingredients. Turn the appliance OFF (turn the ON/OFF-switch to >0<), when the motor stalls to avoid overheating (see 'Solving Problems').
- Process the ingredients just a few seconds. It is better to check the quality of the product in between, then obtaining a result that is too fine and possibly watery and mushy.
- With two speeds (ON/OFF switch position >1< or >2<) and the pulse function (turn the ON/OFF switch to >P<) you can prepare easily, versatile and quickly a variety of food (see below).
SELECTING THE APPROPRIATE SPEED
Simply turn the ON/OFF switch to the desired speed setting >1< or >2<, or use the pulse function >P<. The appropriate speed setting is determined by the textures of the ingredients and the desired consistency (see the following table). To use the pulse function (ON/OFF switch position >P<), turn and hold the ON/OFF switch in position until the ingredients have reached the desired consistency. With the pulse function, the ON/OFF switch will be set back automatically, when releasing it. Please find some guidelines for selecting the suitable speed setting in the following table.
| Speed Setting | Switch Position | Function and Examples | Use |
| Pulse Function | P ice crushing | short, powerful impulse movements; creaming butter/marge | Crushing Ice: place 1 to 12 ice cubes in the blender jug and hold the switch at position P until the ice pieces have the desired size.Tip: Before processing, place the blender jug in the refrigerator. |

OVERLOAD PROTECTION
The mixer is fitted with a self-resetting overload protection device, which safeguards against overheating the motor. Overheating may be caused by ...
• too much food in the blender jug.
- hard ingredients block the blades.
• too sticky and too heavy load (e.g. heavy dough).
- the drive shaft of the blade assembly and/or the drive shaft in the motor base is damaged. You feel an unusual high resistance, when rotating the blades and/or the drive wheel.
If overheating occurs, the appliance will automatically switch off the motor. In this case, switch OFF the appliance (turn ON/OFF switch to >0<) and unplug. Remove the obstacle (see: 'Solving Problems') and leave the appliance cool down for at least 30 minutes. Thereafter, you may try to reactivate the appliance.
IMPORTANT: If you can turn the drive shafts of the motor base and/or blade assembly only with noticeable high resistance, the appliance may not be used furthermore. Please, contact an authorised service centre for examination and repair.
BEFORE FIRST USE
WARNING: DO NOT let young children play with the appliance or any part of it or the packaging! The blades of the blade assembly are very sharp. Always handle the blade assembly with care to avoid injuries and damage. The blender jug is made of glass, therefore it is fragile! Do not expose the blender jug to extreme variations in temperature. Always unplug the appliance before moving or cleaning it, and when it is not in use. Do not place the kettle or power base in an automatic dishwasher. Do not place or immerse the motor base or power cord in water or other liquids or spill any liquids on the motor base or power cord. Do not use any abrasive or corrosive cleaners for cleaning to avoid damage to the surfaces.
- Unpack the appliance and all parts and accessories carefully. Check that no parts are damaged or missing (see: 'Knowing Your New Design Mixer Mini'). Carefully remove all packaging, shipping materials, stickers, and promotional materials. However, DO NOT remove the model label.
- Before first use and after a longer period of storage, clean all parts of the appliance (see: 'Care and Cleaning').
OPERATION
⚠ WARNING: Always ensure that the appliance and all its parts and accessories are out of reach of young children. The main part of the blender jug is made of glass and could break or crack when handled carelessly. Even small splinters and shards could cause severe injuries when getting into your food and beverages. Thus, always handle the glass parts with special care to avoid injuries and damage. Do not use any glass parts any longer when these parts are broken, cracked, or chipped in any way.
Unplug the appliance, before cleaning the appliance, and when the appliance is not in use. Do not leave the motor base unattended while connected to the power supply.
Do not hold your hands or any foreign objects (e.g. cooking utensils) into the blender
jug with the blender jug placed on the motor base. Always switch OFF (turn ON/OFF switch to >0<), wait until the blades come to a complete standstill and remove the blender jug from the motor base, before opening the lid and taking out or checking your food or pushing your food down in the blender jug. Only use cooking utensils made of wood, rubber, or plastic with the appliance. Do not use violence, especially when removing obstacles blocking the blades to avoid damage to the blades.
Ensure to place the appliance on a level, flat, stable, and dry surface. Do not place the appliance near the edge of the working space or on inclined surfaces. Take into consideration that the appliance could move around due to vibrations during operation.
Always keep your workspace clean and dry during operation. Immediately wipe off spilled liquids or splashes using a dry cloth. Do not place the motor base on wet or moist surfaces or on any clothes. Do not let any liquids run under or on the motor base. If any liquids ran into the motor base or run out during operation, immediately unplug the appliance (see: 'Solving Problems'). If in doubt, contact an authorised service centre for examination (see also: 'Solving Problems').
Always remove the blender jug from the motor base, before filling the blender jug or removing the lid. Only place the blender jug on a clean, dry, stable and level surface. Do not expose the blender jug to extreme temperature variations (e.g. pouring hot water into the blender jug just after crushing ice). The maximum temperature of food and liquids filled into the blender jug is 60^ C. Always close the blender jug with the lid and measuring cup before operation. Otherwise, liquids and splashes could escape. Always ensure that the exterior of the blender jug is dry and clean, before placing the blender jug onto the motor base.
CAUTION: The appliance will not work without the blender jug on the motor base. However, do not remove the blender jug from the motor base during operation, to avoid damage to the drive wheel (in the motor base) and the coupling (in the blade assembly). Always switch OFF (turn ON/OFF switch to >0<) and wait for the blades to stop complete, before removing the blender jug from the motor base. To avoid overheating, before operation, always fill a sufficient amount of food or liquid into the blender jug (at least 200 ml). Do not fill in more than 800 ml to avoid overflow. Do not leave any food in the blender jug after use, to avoid that any residues dry on the surfaces or go off within the blender jug (see: 'Care and Cleaning').
IMPORTANT: If your Design Mixer Mini is still new, you may notice a burnt smell, when starting the motor. This is no reason for concern and will vanish with repeated use.
⚠ WARNING: The blades of the blade assembly are very sharp. Handle with care to avoid injuries. Only touch the blade assembly by the outer rim.
CAUTION: Before assembling the blender jug, ensure that the sealing surfaces on the blade assembly, silicone seal, and glass body are completely clean and smooth. Even the threads on the glass body and threaded sleeve must be completely clean. Particles and residues of food on the surfaces could damage the parts of the blender jug and leading to leakage of the blender jug.
- Ensure that the sealing surfaces at the silicone seal, blade assembly and bottom of the glass body as well as the threads at the glass body and the threaded sleeve are absolutely clean and smooth.
- Hold the blade assembly at the outer rim with the blades facing upwards and place the silicone seal on the outer rim of the blade assembly.
- Place the glass body onto the blade assembly.
- Turn the glass body with the blade assembly in it upside down.
Note:
The threaded sleeve can only be mounted in one orientation. Turn it clockwise for assembling the blender jug.
- Ensure that the silicone seal lies evenly between the glass body and blade assembly. Then carefully screw the threaded sleeve on the glass body. Tighten the threaded sleeve by hand.
- Via a cup of clear tap water, test the blender jug for leakage. If water runs out simply tighten the threaded sleeve a little more. If required, wipe dry carefully before usage. With the blender jug assembled leak-free and the exterior of the blender jug completely dry, the blender jug is ready for use.
PROCESSING FOOD
CAUTION: Do not fill any hot food into the blender jug to prevent the glass body from bursting. Always leave cooked food cool down to no more than 60°C before filling. The mixer operates only with the blender jug mounted. If you remove the blender jug during operation the mixer stops automatically. Do not remove the blender jug during operation to avoid damage to the drive wheel and coupling.
You should fill in liquid ingredients at first. Cut solid ingredients in 2 cm pieces. Do not overfill the blender jug. Otherwise, liquids could run out or the motor could stall.
Additionally, with the blender jug overfilled, you may get an uneven and poor mixing result.
IMPORTANT: The blender jug is no measuring device. If your recipe requires exact amounts, please use a separate measuring cup.
- Remove the blender jug from the motor base. Prepare your food and fill the ingredients into the blender jug.
- Close the blender jug with the lid and press the lid down. Insert the measuring cup. There are two protrusions on the exterior of the measuring cup. Place the measuring cup into the lid with these protrusions sliding into the grooves in the lid. Lock the measuring cup by turning it clockwise.
- Ensure that the blender is switched OFF (turn the ON/OFF switch to >0). Ensure that the bottom of the blender jug is clean and dry.
- Place the blender jug on the motor base. If required, turn the blender jug a little until it settles down on the motor base and stands firmly. The appliance is now ready for operation.
WARNING: Do not remove the lid and/or grasp into the blender jug or holding any type of objects into the blender jug with the motor agitating and/or the blender jug placed on the motor base. Do not remove the blender jug, while the motor is agitating. Always switch OFF the appliance (turn the ON/OFF switch to >0<) and wait until the blades stop complete. Thereafter remove the blender jug from the motor base before grasping into the blender jug or holding any objects into the blender jug.
- Via the ON/OFF switch, select the desired speed setting: >1< (slowly), >2< (quickly) or >P< (pulse). The motor starts running immediately.
CAUTION: If the motor slows down during operation or gets stuck, immediately switch OFF the appliance (turn ON/OFF switch to >0). Please, adhere to the instructions in chapter 'Solving Problems'.
The appliance will process your food within seconds. Do not leave the appliance operate continuously for more than 1 minute. Make a break of at least 1 minute after 1 minute of continuous operation.
Note:
The motor will start only with the blender jug placed on the motor base correctly. When using the pulse function >P<, the ON/OFF switch will turn back to >0<, as soon as you release the ON/OFF switch.
-
After a few seconds of operation, switch back to >0< to switch OFF the appliance.
-
With the blades standing still, grasp the blender jug at the handle and remove it from the motor base. Thereafter remove the lid to check the results or, if required, push the ingredients down, which are sticking to the inner walls of the jug, using a plastic spoon.
Note:
If you wish to add some further ingredients only, it is best to remove the measuring cup from the lid by turning the measuring cup counterclockwise first and then lift it up and out. Fill the ingredients via the opening in the lid. Before starting the appliance again, do not forget to replace the measuring cup.
- If required, close the lid and replace the blender jug onto the motor base. Let the appliance operate for some further seconds.
- If your food has reached the desired consistency, switch OFF the appliance (ON/OFF switch to >0<). Thereafter remove the blender jug from the motor base and remove the lid.
- Empty the blender jug. Runny food (e.g. beverages or runny batters) may be poured. With a more heavy and/or sticky mixture, use a wooden or plastic spoon to take your food out.
- Clean the appliance immediately after each usage (see: 'Care and Cleaning'). Do not leave any residues dry on the surfaces.

The blades of the blade assembly are very sharp. Always take special care when disassembling the blender jug and/or handling the blade assembly to avoid injuries.
Do not spill or pour any liquids on or in the motor base or power cord. Do not place or immerse the motor base or power cord in any liquids to avoid damage, risk of fire, and electric shock.
Glass can break or crack easily. Always use special care while handling the blender jug. Do not expose the blender jug to extreme temperature variations.
Do not use abrasive cleaning agents or aggressive liquids (e.g. bleach, solving agents) for cleaning the appliance or any part of it, to avoid damage to the surfaces and seals. Do not use any hard or sharp-edged objects for cleaning (e.g. scoring pads, knives, scrapers). Do not use violence.
DO NOT clean the motor base or power cord in an automatic dishwasher!
⚠ WARNING: Use extreme caution when working in the area of the blades; be careful not to cut on the sharp blades and not to damage the blades. Glass may crack easily, when handled carelessly. Please, use special care, when handling glass parts to avoid damage and injuries caused by splinters and shards. Do not expose the glass body to extreme temperature variations to avoid cracking. Always observe the maximum temperature for the glass body (60°C).
- Empty the blender jug completely and rinse loosely adhering food with clean water.
- Then fill 200 ml-300 ml warm dishwater into the blender jug (up to 60°C). Seal the blender jug with the lid and measuring cup. Switch the appliance ON (turn the ON/OFF switch to position >1<) and let the appliance work for a few seconds.
- Switch the appliance OFF (ON/OFF-switch position >0<). Wait until the blades stop, and remove the blender jug from the motor base. Unplug the appliance.
-
Remove the lid from the blender jug. Residues still sticking to the interior of the blender jug may be removed easily via a soft nylon brush. However, please keep in mind that the blades are very sharp. Do not touch the blades with your hands. After cleaning, pour out the dishwater.
