Please read these instructions carefully before using the appliance, and always follow the safety and operating instructions.

Important: People (including children) who are not able to use the appliance in a safe way, due to their physical, sensorial or mental capacity or their lack of experience or knowledge, must never use the appliance except if they are supervised by a person responsible for their safety or if they previously received instructions concerning the safe use of the appliance. Close supervision is necessary to prevent children from using the appliance as a toy.

From time to time check the cord for damages. Never use the appliance if cord or appliance shows any signs of damage. In that case, repairs should be made by a competent qualified electrician ¹ . Should the cord be damaged, it must be replaced by a competent qualified electrician ² .

☐ Never immerse the appliance in water or any other liquid for any reason whatsoever. Never put it in the dishwasher.

BEFORE THE FIRST OPERATION

For the perfect taste, operate the jug kettle with fresh water in order to clean any residue left from the manufacturing process. When the appliance has cooled down, repeat the process 3 times with fresh water, before rinsing.

OPERATION

• Always remove the jug from the power base before filling it.
- Raise the lid and fill the tank with fresh water paying attention not to fill under the "MIN" mark or above the "MAX" mark in the kettle.
- Close the lid by pressing it down until you hear a click. Make sure it closes correctly.
- Put the jug onto the power base, plug into the wall socket and switch on. The pilot light will come on. If it does not come on, check if the jug kettle is placed correctly on its base. If the problem persists, contact the nearest customer service.
- The jug kettle will switch off automatically when the water is boiling. However, you can switch it off anytime by pressing the on/off switch.
- For instant reboiling, wait until the water has cooled down and switch on the appliance again.

SAFETY CUT-OUT

• This jug kettle is protected with an automatic safety device which switches the appliance off if it is accidentally switched on without water.
• In this case, put the switch in the off-position and wait about 10 minutes for the element to cool. Then fill the jug kettle with cold water. This will reset the safety device.
  • The kettle may then be used as normal.
• Should the problem persist, please contact the nearest customer service.

CLEANING AND MAINTENANCE

• Before attempting any cleaning operation, make sure the appliance is unplugged from the supply socket and fully cooled down.
• To clean the exterior surfaces, simply wipe over with a soft damp cloth and dry thoroughly. To remove scale from the inner walls of the kettle and from the filter you can use a soft brush.
• Never use abrasive products.
• On no account must the jug kettle or its power base be immersed in water or any other liquid.

DESCALING

To remove scale from the jug kettle, use products made especially available for this purpose. Make sure to use a type recommended for plastic kettles and follow the product's instruction manual carefully.
