OPERATING INSTRUCTIONS

Intended use

- This device is suitable for heating water only. Any other use can lead to damages to the device or personal injury.

Unpacking and checking

- Carefully take the device and its accessories out of the packaging. Retain the packaging in case you would like to store the device away or transport it at a later date. If you choose to dispose of the packaging, then please do so according to the applicable legal regulations.

- Check the packaging contents for completeness and damages. Should the contents in the packaging not be complete or be damaged, do not use the device. Return it to your retail outlet immediately.

Preparation

- Clean the water kettle before the first use in order to remove production-related residues.

- Fill the water kettle with cold water up to the MAX 1.7L marking. Always take the water kettle from the base (6) before filling kettle with water.

- Set the kettle on the base and connect the plug (5) to a suitable power outlet.

- Put the On / Off switch (4) to position I. The operation indicator (7) lights up red. Let the water boil once.

- The water kettle automatically switches off as soon as the water boils. The On / Off switch moves back to position 0. The operation indicator is then extinguished.

- Then pour out the water. Repeat the procedure and always let the device cool off in between.

Operation

• Boil the water as described in the chapter Preparation.

- Attention! Never open the lid (2) during the boiling procedure. Also, do not take the water kettle from the base (6) during the boiling procedure.

- The water level must be between the upper (MAX 1.7L) and lower (MIN 0.5L) marking. Do not fill the water beyond the upper limit. Boiling water may spurt out.

- You can manually interrupt the boiling procedure at any time. For this, move the On / Off switch (4) to position 0.

- The water kettle is equipped with a filter which separates limescale and other residues from the water while the water is being poured.

Notes:

- Let the device cool off for approximately 5 minutes before initiating another boiling procedure.

• Danger of burns! Pour the water out carefully.

Boil-Dry Protection

  • If there is not enough water in the kettle, the device switches off automatically. Always make sure that there is enough water in the kettle since the automatic switch-off shortens the lifetime of the water kettle.
  • Let the device cool off before filling it with water again.

Cleaning and care

  • Prior to cleaning, pull the power plug (5) out of the power outlet. Wait until the device has completely cooled off.
  • Never immerse electrical parts of the device in water during cleaning or operation. Never hold the device under running water.
  • Clean the exterior surfaces of the housing with a slightly damp cloth and then rub dry.
  • Ensure that no water enters into the interior of the device (around the switch) and on the base.
  • Never use solvents and abrasives, hard brushes, metallic or sharp objects for cleaning. Solvents are harmful to health and attack the plastic parts. Abrasive cleaners and tools do scratch the surface.
  • Clean the filter (11) with water regularly. It can be removed from the spout (10) for cleaning. Re-insert the filter. Do not operate the water kettle without first having inserted the filter.

Decalcification

  • Limescale reduces the performance of the water kettle. Therefore, decalcify the water kettle at regular intervals, at least twice per year.
  • Use a commercial limescale remover and follow the directions on the package.
    • Alternatively, you can decalcify your device with a vinegar solution.
  • Put 30 ml of white wine vinegar into the water kettle and fill it half-full with water.
  • Let the mixture boil and then let it act for one minute. Repeat the procedure three times.
    • Pour out the mixture and rinse out the water container with water.
  • Fill with fresh, clean water. Heat the water and then pour it out. Repeat this procedure several times in order to remove the vinegar odour.
