USER MANUAL VS 717 CD Opus

Heath & Safety precautions:

  • Before using the equipment please read the Health & Safety precautions, manufactures' recommendation and the operating manual.
  • The operating manual should be available at all times for the operator to read.
  • The equipment can only be used in accordance with the specifications in the manual.
  • Should be installed on a sturdy and level surface near a 220 240V AC socket.
  • Must be protected against moisture and dust.
  • Do not put the equipment near heating or ventilation units
    • The equipment must not be used in or near a room with inflammable liquids or gases
  • Do not use the equipment near aerosolos of, oil or grease mage from petroleum or inflammable substances
  • Do not use compressed air from a aerosol ffor cleaning shredder
  • The power supply cable should be protected against any damage and not be used to pull the equipment or to remove plug from the power socket
  • Unplug the equipment from the power socket when removing the cover or cleaning the inside
    • The equipment should be kept away and out of reach of children and animal's
  • Danger! Equipement contains rotary elements. Keep away, long hair, loose jewellery, ties and other loose pieces of clothing - that can become entangled in cutting head
  • Be careful when feeding material into the slots
  • When the motor overheats, it will turn off without a single, turn off the main switch of the shredder immediately and wait for it to cool down!
  • Do not put any heavy obciects on the device!
  • When any malfunction occurs, check that the equipment is being used correctly and then contact the dealer or service point.
  • The equipment must not be put or kept outside and should be operated in a room temperature higher than +80°C.
    • The equipment should be operated according to general Health & Safety rules
    • Any repairs must be carryout by only authorised staff
  • After using the shredder, must be turned off by main switch or by unplugging it from the power socekt.

Recommendations:

• The equipment is designed for shredding paper, credit cards and CD/DVDs
- During longer standsills, the main switch should be in the "OFF" position and unplugged
- Before shredding, remove paper clips and staples from the documents
• Empty the shredded waste from the bin frequently
- The shredder can be operated only with paper bin supplied
- Pay particular attention when putting the shredding head on to the bin, there is a micro switch, which must touch a plastic element inside the paper bin. If the micro switch is not on it, the equipment will not work
- To get a long and faultless use from the equipment do not shred more then 7 sheets of A4 70 g/m2, paper, one credit card, one CD/DVD at a time
- Do not shred continuous computer printout paper, PCV foil, coated paper or cardboard - it can cause damage to the cutting mechanism
- NOTE! Desk-side shredders are not designed for continuous operation
- It is recommended to make 4 minutes breaks after every 2 minutes of shredding

NOTE! Not complying with the recommendations above can result in the warranty / guarantee being void.

Operation:

The main switch is located at the top of the shredder. It can be set in three positions:

  • ON/AUTO - after choosing this option the equipment is ready for operation and will start automatically when the paper is inserted and stops automatically when is no more paper to be shredded.
  • OFF - this option is recommended during a long standstill and when untended.
  • REV - setting, reverse position helps to remove paper if it is stuck inside the cutting blades. It can also be used for cleaning the shredding mechanism
  • The waste bin must be emptied often in order not to damage the cutters.
  • When cutting credit cards insert them in the middle of the paper slot as indicated on the top of the unit.

Pay particular attention when putting the shredding head on to the bin, there in a micro switch, which must touch a plastic element inside the paper bin. If the micro switch is not on it, the equipment will not work.

Performance:

OPUS VS 717 CD can shred up to 7 sheets of 70 g/m2 A4 paper at one time in the large feed slot. Credit cards one at time in the centre of the paper slot. It also has a special feed slot of 122 mm for CD/DVDs are destroyed by cutting into 4 strip.

Cleaning:

  • Before cleaning the shredder ensure that the main switch on the equipment is in the off position and is unplugged from the power socket.
  • When the shred bin is overfilled, it may cause problems, by dragging paper inside the cutter housing, make sure that the shredder is bin is always kept empty after use.
  • Cleaning of the housing - wipe the cover of the shredder with gentle detergent or damp piece of cloth.

Maintenance:

To prevent the reduction of efficiency and increase the life of the cutters and equipment, it is necessary to gentle oil cutting blades regularly with the special oil, which you can get from OPUS. Put the oil on to a few pieces of paper and shred them so that the oil will spread over all the cutting mechanism.
