  1. Read Instructions - All the safety and operating instructions should be read before the appliance is operated.

  6. Wall or Ceiling Mounting - The appliance should be mounted to a wall or ceiling only as recommended by the manufacturer.

  8. Heat - The appliance should be situated away from heat sources such as radiators, heat registers, stoves, or other appliances (including amplifiers) that produce heat.
  9. Power Sources - The appliance should be connected to a power supply only of the type described in the operating instructions or as marked on the appliance.
  10. Cables and Plugs – The mains plug shall remain readily operable. All cables should be routed so that they are not likely to be walked on or pinched by items placed upon or against them, paying particular attention to cords at plugs, convenience receptacles, and the point where they exit from the appliance.
  11. Cleaning - The appliance should be cleaned only as recommended by the manufacturer. Clean by wiping with a dry and clean cloth. Do not use chemical cleaners or detergents. Always pull the mains plug before cleaning the unit.

FURTHER NOTES ON THE DEVICE

Setting a safe volume level

  • If you continually listen to loud music, your hearing gradually adapts to it and gives you the impression that the volume is lower.
    • What seems normal to you can be already for long time too loud and unhealthy.
    • To protect yourself from this, set the volume to a low level.
  • Increase the volume slowly.
  • Damage to your hearing can be extensive and cannot be reversed.
  • If you notice a hearing problem, please consult a doctor.

Condensation:

- Condensation may occur when moving the device from a cold to a warm environment. If there is moisture inside the player, it may not operate properly. Don't turn on the device and wait about one hour for the moisture to evaporate.

Saving energy

- If the unit is not used for a long period of time, it should be unplugged from the AC socket

Unpacking:

• Take out carefully the unit from the packing. Please keep the packing for further use.

- Carefully remove possible protection cardboards and slipcovers.

Installation

For Clock and Radio memory battery back-up

A backup battery compartment located at rear of the unit.

  1. Open the battery compartment lid.

  2. Follow the polarity diagram shown inside the compartment and install 2x AAA (UM-4) batteries (not included).

  3. Close the clock battery compartment lid.

AC/DC Adaptor Connection

The unit can be powered by an external AC/DC adaptor:

  1. Connect the adaptor's DC output plug to the DC-in jack of the unit.

  2. Firmly and securely plug the supplied adaptor's AC plug into AC main outlet. Make sure that the main outlet's output power matches the required power of the adaptor.

Notes:

- If the unit is not to be used for an extended period of time, remove the battery and disconnect it from the power.

- Only use the supplied AC/DC adaptor.

Remote Control Holder Mounting option:

The unit comes with a Remote Control holder.

You may mount it onto the main unit, if apply.

Insert the Remote Control (RC) holder into the RC holder mounting holes located at the right hand side (front view) of the main unit, see following diagrams.

Wall Mounting Option:

Warning: The wall mounting installation shall be carried out by an expert only!

  1. On the wall, two mounting screws (with same spacing as the main unit mounting holes) should be ready for the mounting.
  2. Release the stand lock and detach the stand from the main unit.
  3. Hang the unit on the wall

Radio Tuner Operation

FM Antenna

Fully extend the FM antenna wire for the best FM radio reception.

Radio Tuning

  1. Press the STANDBY ⏻ button to turn on the unit.
  2. Press the FUNC (function) button to select FM radio mode.

- If necessary, you can press the ST/MONO button to select FM stereo or mono radio receiving, where the display will show “☐” and “without stereo symbol” respectively.

  1. To manually tune to a desired station, repeatedly press the TUN +/- ▶/1 button.
  2. To automatically search for stations with strong signals, press and hold the TUN +/- ▶▶but◀▶ ton until the frequency digits on display begins to scan then release the button. The tuner will stop on the first strong signal it finds.

Notes:

  • Manual tune to select weaker stations that might be skipped during automatic tuning.
  • If the automatic tuning does not stop on the exact frequency of the station, for example, it stops on 88.9 MHz instead of 88.8 MHz, use the manual tuning method to “fine tune” to the exact frequency of the desired station.

Radio Preset Stations

The unit allows you to store up to 10 FM stations for easy recall at any time.

Preset Stations

  1. Press the STANDBY ⏻ button to turn on the unit.
  2. Press the FUNC button to select radio mode.
  3. Tune to the radio station you want to store in memory by using the TUN +/- ▶ button.
  4. Press the MEM button. The preset channel number appears on display and blink.
  5. To select desired preset station number, press the CH +/- button.
  6. To confirm preset location, press the MEM button.
  7. Repeat steps 3 to 6 to store other stations, if apply.

Notes:

  • There is a few seconds delay when programming, after this delay time, the unit will automatically switch back to normal tuner mode.
    • You can overwrite a preset station by overwriting and storing the new frequency in its place.

Recalling Preset Station

  1. Press the STANDBY ⏻ button to turn on the unit.
  2. Press the FUNC button to select radio mode.
  3. Press the CH +/- button to select the desired preset station and the frequency and "MEM" indicator will appear on display.

Listening to CD Music

The CD player can playback CD/CD-R/CD-RW disc with Audio CD format (MP3 discs cannot be played).

CD Playback

  1. Press the STANDBY ⏻ button to turn on the unit.
  2. Press the FUNC button to select CD mode.
  3. Press the OPEN / CLOSE button to open the CD door.
  4. Press a CD into the spindle with printed side facing out.
  5. Press the OPEN / CLOSE button again to close the CD door.

The player reads the CD content automatically and shows total number of track(s) on display.

  1. The player starts music playback automatically.

The current playback track number shows on display.

  1. Adjust the volume level by pressing the VOL + / - button.
  2. To skip to a desired CD track, press the ◀ button.
  3. To fast-rewind or fast-forward within the track playing, press and hold the button.

  4. To pause CD playback, press the PLAY/PAUSE ▶Button.
    To resume playback, press the PLAY/PAUSE▶button again.

  5. To stop CD playback, press the STOP ■ button.

CD Play Modes

Repeat Playback

  • To repeat playback of one track, press the PMODE button once. A repeat one indicator appears on the LCD.
    • To repeat playback of the entire CD, press the PMODE button until the repeat all (ALL) indicator appears on LCD.

Random Playback

  • To playback CD tracks in random order, press the PMODE button until “RND” indicator appears on the LCD.
  • To cancel a CD play mode, press the PMODE button until the P-MODE indicator disappears from the LCD.

CD Program Playback

This feature allows you to program up to 20 tracks in a desired order.

  1. With CD playback stopped, press the PGM button once.
    The LCD shows following indicators: The "PGM" indicator blinks.
    The program number digits (e.g. 01) stay on steadily.
    The Track number digits (e.g. - -) blinks.

  2. To select a track number for the programming, press the /button.

  3. When desired track number displayed, press the PGM button to confirm entry.
  4. To program up to 20 tracks, repeat steps 2 and 3 until all desired tracks are entered. Or, to begin programmed playback, press the PLAY/PAUSE▶button, the "PGM" indicator stays on the display.

  5. To cancel programmed playback, press the STOP ■ button twice.

Notes:

  • If you press the ◄◀/▶▶ button during programmed playback, the unit will skip backward / forward to previous / next track in the program, not necessary the previous / next track on the disc.
  • The CD play modes function, repeat one track and repeat all programmed track, work in the same manner as during normal CD playback (see CD Play Modes above).

Listening to USB/SD Music

The player can playback MP3 songs in a USB/SD memory device.

USB/SD music Playback

  1. Press the STANDBY ⏻ button to turn on the unit.
  2. Insert the USB/SD memory device into the USB connector / SD slot.
  3. Press the FUNC button to select USB/SD mode.
  4. The player reads the USB/SD content and shows total number of song(s) on display then starts music playback automatically. The current playback song number shows on display.
  5. Adjust the volume level by pressing the VOL + / - button.
  6. To skip to a desired song, press the /button.
  7. To fast-rewind or fast-forward within the song playing, press and hold the button.
  8. To pause playback, press the PLAY/PAUSE button. To resume playback, press the PLAY/PAUSE button again.
  9. To stop playback, press the STOP ■ button.

Notes:

- If both the USB and SD memory devices are inserted, the USB has the preference to be played back. In case you would like to listen songs in the SD memory device, just insert the SD device

into the SD slot only (i.e. without USB device inserted).

  • Due to several different formats it is possible that some USB sticks or SD cards cannot be recognized and played by the unit.
  • The manufacturer is not responsible for the playability of different USB memory devices or SD memory devices.
  • The manufacturer is not responsible for loss or damage of data or files.
  • A USB device must always be connected directly to the USB port of this product. The use of a USB extension cord is not supported by this product. The USB port of this product cannot communicate with a computer directly.

USB/SD Play Modes

Repeat Playback

  • To repeat playback of one song, press the PMODE button once. A repeat one indicator appears on the LCD.
  • To repeat playback song(s) of the entire USB/SD device, press the PMODE button until the repeat all indicator appears on LCD.

Random Playback

- To playback song(s) in random order, press the PMODE button until "RND" indicator appears on the LCD.

Preset EQ Settings

The unit provides 4 preset EQ settings for your selection.

When the unit is powered on either in CD, USB/SD, Radio or Aux-In mode, you can press the EQ button repeatedly to select ROCK, CLASSIC, JAZZ or POP and their corresponding indicator displayed. If preset EQ is selected OFF and no EQ indicator will be displayed.

Listening to an External Audio Source

  1. Connect an audio cable (not included) with 3.5mm stereo plug from an auxiliary audio device to the AUX-IN jack of the unit.
  2. Press the STANDBY ⏻ button to turn on the unit.
  3. To select auxiliary audio input, press the FUNC button. The "AUX" indicator shows on display.
  4. Turn on the external auxiliary audio device.
  5. The volume can now be controlled through the unit.
    Operate all other functions on the external device as usual.

Notes:

  • Press the STANDBY ⏻ button to turn off the unit when you finish listening.
  • Don't forget to switch off the power of the external audio device as well.

Headphone Use

A Phones jack located at rear of the unit. When the unit is powered on either in CD, USB/SD, Radio or Aux-In mode, you can connect the earphones (not included) to the Phones jack for your private listening. Mind the safety information on page 16.

Clock Setting

When the unit is OFF (Standby mode):

Set 12/24 Hour format

  1. Press and hold the MODE button entering 12/24 hour format setting mode, the "12H" or "24H" indicator blinks.
  2. Press the /k button to select 12 or 24 hour display format.

Set Clock

  1. Press the MODE button again and the clock hour digits blink.
  2. Press the /button to set hour.
  3. Press the MODE button and clock minute digits blink.
  4. Press the /button to set minute.

Exit setting mode

To save all settings, press the SNOOZE button or wait for a few seconds to exit the setting mode.

Alarm Operation

The unit incorporates dual alarm timer, alarm 1 and alarm 2. You may set the two alarm time individually.

When the unit is OFF (Standby mode):

Setting the alarm1 time

  1. Press and hold the ALARM ON/OFF button until the alarm1 indicator blink and the alarm1 hour digits blink as well.
  2. Press /button to set alarm1 hour.
  3. Press the ALARM ON/OFF button again and the alarm1 minute digits blink.
  4. Press //button to set alarm1 minute.

Select alarm1 wake up source

  1. Press the ALARM ON/OFF button and alarm source indicator "bU" (buzzer), "rAd" (radio), "Cd" (CD) or "USb-Sd" (USB/SD) blinks on display.
  2. Press the /k button to select alarm source buzzer, radio, CD or USB/SD.

Set maximum alarm1 volume level

  1. Press the ALARM ON/OFF button again, maximum alarm volume level indicator “L (level digits)” blinks.
  2. Press the // button to select maximum alarm volume level, where you can select the level between 10 and 30 (inclusive).

Save settings

  1. To save all settings and exit the setting mode, press the SNOOZE button or wait for a few seconds.

Setting the alarm2 time

  1. Press and hold the ALARM ON/OFF button until the alarm1 indicator blinks.
  2. Press the ALARM ON/OFF button repeatedly until the alarm2 indicator blinks.
  3. Press /▲ button to set alarm2 hour.
  4. Press the ALARM ON/OFF button again and the alarm2 minute digits blink.
  5. Press /button to set alarm2 minute.

Select alarm2 wake up source

  1. Press the ALARM ON/OFF button and alarm source indicator "bU" (buzzer), "rAd" (radio), "Cd" (CD) or USb-Sd (USB/SD) blinks on display.
  2. Press the /button to select alarm source buzzer, radio, CD or USB/SD.

Set maximum alarm2 volume level

  1. Press the ALARM ON/OFF button again, maximum alarm volume level indicator “L (level digits)” blinks.
  2. Press the /kuth to select maximum alarm volume level, where you can select the level between 10 and 30 (inclusive).

Save settings

  1. To save all settings and exit the setting mode, press the SNOOZE button or wait for a few seconds.

Enable alarm function

To activate the daily alarm, press the ALARM ON/OFF button and the corresponding alarm source indicator (alarm1 / alarm2) should appear on the LCD display.

Notes:

  • When “Wake to Radio” is selected, make sure the radio station which you want to wake to is tuned.
  • If "Wake to CD" or "Wake to USB/SD" is selected but your CD, USB/SD has not been loaded / inserted, the alarm source will be redirected to the Alarm Buzzer automatically when the alarm is reached.

Wake to Buzzer

  • When the alarm time is reached, the buzzer alarm will sound for 3 Minutes.
  • It goes into Auto-snooze mode if no further button has been pressed.

The alarm indicator 📄 ( )blinks on display. The buzzer turns off for the snooze time (around 10 minutes) then comes on again. This operation will be repeated three times. After the fourth alarm is finished, the alarm will shut off until the same alarm time on the next day.

- You may also activate the snooze function manually after the alarm sounds by pressing the SNOOZE button. The buzzer stops for the snooze time then comes again.

- To cancel the snooze before it expires, press the ALARM ON/OFF button once.

- The snooze operation (including auto-snooze and manual snooze) can be repeated by 3 times only.

- To stop the alarm immediately after the buzzer sounds, you can also press the ALARM ON/OFF button once. It resets itself for the following day.

Wake to USB/SD, CD or Radio

  • When the alarm time is reached, the selected alarm source (CD, USB/SD or Radio) will automatically turn on.
  • It plays for 30 minutes then shuts off and resets itself for the following day.
  • During the activation of the alarm source, you may press the SNOOZE button to activate the snooze function. The alarm stops for the snooze time (around 10 minutes) then turns on again.
  • To cancel the snooze before it expires, press the ALARM ON/OFF button once.
  • This manual snooze operation can be repeated three times. Each time the alarm turns on, it plays for 30 minutes (without pressing the snooze button).
  • To stop the alarm immediately after the alarm sounds, you can also press the ALARM ON/OFF button once. It resets itself for the following day.

Sleep Timer Function

Sleep to timer

This feature allows you to fall asleep to the USB/SD, CD or radio up to 90 Minutes.

The unit shuts off automatically when the time expires.

  1. Press the STANDBY ⏻ button to turn the unit on.
  2. Either tune to the desired radio station in radio mode, playback CD song or playback USB/SD songs.
  3. To select the sleep timer to turn the unit off after 10, 20, 30, 40, 50, 60, 70, 80 or 90 minutes, press the SLEEP button repeatedly. The display shows the "Z" indicator. The unit plays for the selected length of time then automatically turns off.
  4. To check the remaining sleep time, press the SLEEP button once.

To turn the unit off before the sleep timer counts down to zero, press the STANDBY button at any time.

Notes:

• If you are falling asleep to music from an external device connected to the AUX-IN input, the sleep timer will shut off the power to this system but it will not turn off the external device.
- If you activate the sleep timer while a CD is playing, the unit will only continue playing until the end of the disc then shut off automatically and disregards the sleep timer setting. For example, if your CD is only 30 minutes long and a “60 minutes” sleep timer is selected, the unit will shut off approximately one minute after the disc ends.

LCD Background Light

The background light of the LCD can be switched off by pressing the SNOOZE/LIGHT button once. To turn the light back on, press the SNOOZE/LIGHT button once again.

Resetting the Unit

If the unit experiences a power surge or electric shock, it is possible that the internal micro-controller may lock up and the unit will not respond to any commands from the panel controls.

  1. In this event, unplug and then reconnect the AC power plug into the wall outlet.
  2. Use a straightened paper clip, toothpick or similar objects to press the RESET button located at the rear of the main unit. The reset operation clears the system memory and all of your previous settings will be erased.

CAUTION: DO NOT USE SHARP, POINTED OBJECT TO PRESS THE RESET BUTTON. IT MAY DAMAGE THE RESET SWITCH INSIDE THE UNIT.
