Hinweis:

  1. Read Instructions - All the safety and operating instructions should be read before the appliance is operated.
  2. Retain Instructions - The safety and operating instructions should be retained for future reference.
  3. Heed Warnings - All warnings on the appliance and in the operating instructions should be adhered to.
  4. Water and Moisture – Do not use the apparatus near water (e.g. bath tub, sink, swimming pool) or in wet places or tropical climates. Do not place objects filled with liquids, such as vases, on top of the apparatus. Do not expose the apparatus to dripping or splashing.
  5. Setup – The apparatus should only be placed on a stable, flat surface. Do not let the apparatus fall down or expose it to shock.
  6. Wall or Ceiling Mounting - The appliance should be mounted to a wall or ceiling only as recommended by the manufacturer.
  7. Ventilation - The appliance should be situated so that its location or position does not interfere with its proper ventilation.   8. Heat - The appliance should be situated away from heat sources such as radiators, heat registers, stoves, or other appliances (including amplifiers) that produce heat.
  9. Power Sources - The appliance should be connected to a power supply only of the type described in the operating instructions or as marked on the appliance.
  10. Cables and Plugs – The mains plug shall remain readily operable. All cables should be routed so that they are not likely to be walked on or pinched by items placed upon or against them, paying particular attention to cords at plugs, convenience receptacles, and the point where they exit from the appliance.
  11. Cleaning - The appliance should be cleaned only as recommended by the manufacturer. Clean by wiping with a dry and clean cloth. Do not use chemical cleaners or detergents. Always pull the mains plug before cleaning the unit.

  1. Servicing - The user should not attempt to service the appliance beyond that described in the operating instructions. All other servicing should be referred to qualified service personnel.

Setting a safe volume level

  • If you continually listen to loud music, your hearing gradually adapts to it and gives you the impression that the volume is lower.
    • What seems normal to you can be already for long time too loud and unhealthy.
    • To protect yourself from this, set the volume to a low level.
  • Increase the volume slowly.
  • Damage to your hearing can be extensive and cannot be reversed.
  • If you notice a hearing problem, please consult a doctor.

Condensation

- Condensation may occur when moving the device from a cold to a warm environment. If there is moisture inside the player, it may not operate properly. Don't turn on the device and wait about one hour for the moisture to evaporate.

Unpacking

• Take out carefully the unit from the packing. Please keep the packing for further use.
- Carefully remove possible protection cardboards and slipcovers.

Power Supply

• The capacity of the built-in battery is 3.7V, 400mAh.
- To charge the battery, connect the speaker via the supplied USB cable to a computer (computer must be switched on). Under normal circumstances the charging takes about 3 hours. During charging the speaker can be either turned off or on (charging will take slightly longer, especially when music is being streamed).
- When charging, the charge indicator is lit red.
- Once the charging is finished, the charge indicator light will stop being lit red.

  • To switch the speaker on, set the Power ON/OFF switch to "ON".
  • Always switch the unit off after use by switching the Power ON/OFF switch to "OFF".
  • Playback time of the battery is about 3 hours (depending on the volume and audio source).

The USB port on this speaker is only for charging. It cannot communicate with a computer and cannot be used for connecting other devices for playback.

  1. Turn on the Bluetooth ^ feature on your device.
  2. Search for BT 4140.
  3. Pair and connect to BT 4140. If prompted for a password, enter "0000".

  • Press the Volume +/- buttons to adjust the volume on the speaker. A beep tone will be heard when the maximum volume is reached.
    • Additionally you can set the volume and equalizer on your device in order to reach the perfect sound.

Other Features

Reconnection Between Bluetooth® Device and BT 4160

You can reconnect your paired Bluetooth® device to your speaker easily:

- Select the BT 4140 entry on the Bluetooth® device to reconnect. Any of the 6 previously connected Bluetooth® devices would be able to reconnect to BT 4140 when it is powered on and not connected to any device.

Notes:

- BT 4140 is able to remember up to 6 paired devices in its memory bank, eliminating the need to re-pair again should any of these devices connect to it. Should a 7th device be paired to BT 4140, the first device will be erased from its memory. At any time a maximum memory of 6 devices are being retained.

- Press and hold for 8 seconds the Play/Pause button to disconnect BT 4140 from the paired device. The LED will be lit blue steadily. To reconnect to the paired device, again press and hold for 8 seconds the Play/Pause button.

AUX In for Playback of Other Audio Devices

You can connect the audio output of an external device such as an MP3 player to this unit to listen to the sound of that device through the amplifier of this music system.

  • To connect the external device please use a standard stereo audio cable (3.5 mm to 3.5 mm plugs) (not included) to connect the headphone out or audio line out of the external device to the AUX input socket of BT 4140.
  • Switch the external device (e.g. MP3 player) on.
  • Start playback of the external device.
  • To select songs and use Play/Pause functions you need to do this on the external device. The buttons on BT 4140 are without function in AUX mode.
  • Remember to switch off the unit when you are finished using the external device.

Note:

The AUX In has a fixed volume. To adjust the volume when playing via AUX In, use the volume setting on your external device.

Troubleshooting

If there should be any problem with this product, please try to solve it with the help of the following information before contacting service. Most problems can be solved easily.

• BT 4140 cannot be powered on

Make sure that the built-in battery is charged. Ensure that the Power ON/OFF switch is set to "On". When the speaker is powered on, the LED status indicator will light up.

Ensure that your Bluetooth® enabled device supports the A2DP profile. Refer to its user manual on how to turn on the Bluetooth® functions and capabilities.

You may also try the following:

  • Delete the BT 4140 name entry from your Bluetooth® device paired memory list and perform the steps from “Bluetooth® Connection” to re-pair your device with BT 4140.
  • Ensure that both BT 4140 and your Bluetooth® device are not connected to any other devices.
  • On some Bluetooth ^ devices you may need to select BT 4140 as your default output device after pairing is completed.

Make sure that the volume of the speaker and the external device is not set to zero (muted).

With some built-in Bluetooth® enabled computers, 3rd party USB Bluetooth® dongles or other devices, you may be required to manually specify/set-up the audio output as BT 4140. Please refer to the documentation of the external device for further information.
