- Retain Instructions - The safety and operating instructions should be retained for future reference.
- Heed Warnings - All warnings on the appliance and in the operating instructions should be adhered to.
- Water and Moisture – Do not use the apparatus near water (e.g. bath tub, sink, swimming pool) or in wet places or tropical climates. Do not place objects filled with liquids, such as vases, on top of the apparatus. Do not expose the apparatus to dripping or splashing.
- Setup – The apparatus should only be placed on a stable, flat surface. Do not let the apparatus fall down or expose it to shock.
- Wall or Ceiling Mounting - The appliance should be mounted to a wall or ceiling only as recommended by the manufacturer.
- Ventilation - The appliance should be situated so that its location or position does not interfere with its proper ventilation. - Power Sources - The appliance should be connected to a power supply only of the type described in the operating instructions or as marked on the appliance.
- Cables and Plugs – The mains plug shall remain readily operable. All cables should be routed so that they are not likely to be walked on or pinched by items placed upon or against them, paying particular attention to cords at plugs, convenience receptacles, and the point where they exit from the appliance.
- Cleaning - The appliance should be cleaned only as recommended by the manufacturer. Clean by wiping with a dry and clean cloth. Do not use chemical cleaners or detergents. Always pull the mains plug before cleaning the unit.
- Non-use Periods - The power cord of the appliance should be unplugged from the outlet when left unused for a long period of time.
- Object and Liquid Entry - Care should be taken so that objects do not fall and liquids are not spilled into the enclosure through openings.
- Damage Requiring Service - The appliance should be serviced by qualified service personnel when:
a) The power-supply cord or the plug has been damaged; or
b) Objects have fallen, or liquid has been spilled into the appliance; or
c) The appliance has been exposed to rain; or
d) The appliance does not appear to operate normally or exhibits a marked change in performance; or e) The appliance has been dropped, or the enclosure damaged.

Setting a safe volume level
• If you continually listen to loud music, your hearing gradually adapts to it and gives you the impression that the volume is lower.
- What seems normal to you can be already for long time too loud and unhealthy.
- To protect yourself from this, set the volume to a low level.
- Increase the volume slowly.
- Damage to your hearing can be extensive and cannot be reversed.
- If you notice a hearing problem, please consult a doctor.
Condensation
- Condensation may occur when moving the device from a cold to a warm environment. If there is moisture inside the player, it may not operate properly. Don't turn on the device and wait about one hour for the moisture to evaporate.
Saving energy
- If the unit is not used for a long period of time, it should be unplugged from the AC socket

• Take out carefully the unit from the packing. Please keep the packing for further use.
- Carefully remove possible protection cardboards and slipcovers.

Power Supply
• The capacity of the built-in battery is 550mAh.
- To charge the battery, connect the speaker via the supplied USB cable to a computer (computer must be switched on). Under normal circumstances the charging takes about 4 hours. During charging the speaker can be either turned off or on (charging will take slightly longer, especially when music is being streamed).
- When charging, the charge indicator lights up red.
- Once the charging is finished, the charge indicator light will switch to green.
- To switch the speaker on, set the Power ON/OFF switch to "ON".
• Always switch the unit off after use by switching the Power ON/OFF switch to "OFF". - Playback time of the batteries is about 4 hours (depending on the volume and audio source).

- The LED status indicator will be lit steadily indicating the speaker is currently on. To allow pairing to other Bluetooth® devices, press and hold the CONNECT button for 3 seconds. Release when 2 beep tones are heard with the LED status indicator blinking rapidly.

- Turn on the Bluetooth ^® feature on your device.
- Search for BT 4160.
- Pair and connect to BT 4160. If prompted for a password, enter "0000".
- Pairing successful and ready to stream music.
Notes:
• You may need to press and hold the CONNECT button on the speaker for 3 seconds while your device is searching in order for the device to find BT 4160.

Other Features
Reconnection Between Bluetooth® Device and BT 4160
You can reconnect your paired Bluetooth ^® device to your speaker easily:
- Select the BT 4160 entry on the Bluetooth ^ device to reconnect. Any of the 8 previously connected Bluetooth ^ devices would be able to reconnect to BT 4160 when it is powered on and not connected to any device.
Note:
BT 4160 is able to remember up to 8 paired devices in its memory bank, eliminating the need to re-pair again should any of these devices connect to it. Should a 9th device be paired to BT 4160, the first device will be erased from its memory. At any time a maximum memory of 8 devices are being retained.
Toggle Between the Last Two Connected Bluetooth ^® Devices
You can toggle between devices to enjoy your favorite music from another paired Bluetooth® device by following these steps to establish connection:
- Press the CONNECT button once.
- LED status indicator goes off and blinks at every 2 second intervall.
- Ready to stream music.
Notes:
- Ensure that your next paired device's Bluetooth® feature is on and ready to accept connections.
- While switching from one device to another, short dropouts in the playback may occur. After a few seconds playback should reutrn to normal.
Hands Free Function
When you receive a phone call on the connected device while listening to music via BT 4160 you will hear a ringing. To answer the call, press the CONNECT button once. You will now hear the caller's voice on the speaker. To end the call and return to the music playback, press the CONNECT button once again.
If you start a phone call from your connected device, the audio will be streamed over the speaker.
Return to Default Setting
You can return BT 4160 to its default settings and erase its memory of paired devices by following these steps:

Press and hold the CONNECT button for 8 seconds while the speaker is on.
-
A long beep tone is heard. The LED status indicator blinks rapidly.

The memory is now cleared and the speaker is in pairing mode, ready to accept connection from other Bluetooth ^® devices.
AUX In for Playback of Other Audio Devices
You can connect the audio output of an external device such as an MP3 player to this unit to listen to the sound of that device through the amplifier of this music system.

3,5 mm audio cable (not included)- To connect the external device please use a standard stereo audio cable (3.5 mm to 3.5 mm plugs) (not included) to connect the headphone out or audio line out of the external device to the AUX input socket of BT 4160.
- Switch the external device (e.g. MP3 player) on.
- Start playback of the external device.
- Remember to switch off the unit when you are finished using the external device.
Note:
The AUX In has a fixed volume. To adjust the volume when playing via AUX In, use the volume setting on your external device.
Troubleshooting
If there should be any problem with this product, please try to solve it with the help of the following information before contacting service. Most problems can be solved easily.
• BT 4160 cannot be powered on
Make sure that the built-in battery is charged. Ensure that the Power ON/OFF switch is set to "On". When the speaker is powered on, the LED status indicator will light up.
- There is no Bluetooth ^ link between BT 4160 and the external device
Ensure that your Bluetooth ^® enabled device supports the A2DP profile. Refer to its user manual on how to turn on the Bluetooth ^® functions and capabilities.
You may also try the following:
- Delete the BT 4160 name entry from your Bluetooth® device paired memory list and perform the steps from “Bluetooth® Connection” to re-pair your device with BT 4160.
- Ensure that both BT 4160 and your Bluetooth® device are not connected to any other devices.
- On some Bluetooth ^ devices you may need to select BT 4160 as your default output device after pairing is completed.
- Press and hold the CONNECT button of BT 4160 for 8 seconds to reset the unit.
- Bluetooth® link is established and paired between the devices but there is no music
Make sure that the volume of the speaker and the external device is not set to zero (muted). With some built-in Bluetooth ^® enabled computers, 3rd party USB Bluetooth ^® dongles or other devices, you may be required to manually specify/set-up the audio output as BT 4160. Please refer to the documentation of the external device for further information.
