How do I set the time?

While the unit is in standby mode, press and hold the PROG. button on the unit or TIME SET on the remote for 2 seconds. The hour will blink. Use the |◀◀/▶▶| buttons to adjust the hour, then press PROG./TIME SET again to set minutes. Press again to choose 12/24-hour format, then confirm.

How do I set an alarm?

In standby, press and hold AL. SET for 2 seconds. The alarm icon (Alarm 1) appears and the hour blinks. Set hour and minute using |◀◀/▶▶|, pressing AL. SET to confirm each. Then choose wake source: Buzzer (default), Radio (select FM), or CD (select CD icon). Press AL. SET to confirm. Repeat for Alarm 2. Activate alarms by pressing AL. SET repeatedly in standby.

How do I wake up to a CD?

Insert a CD, then set an alarm as described above. When selecting the wake source, press |◀◀/▶▶| until the CD icon appears on the display above the time. The CD will start playing at the alarm time. Ensure the CD is inserted and not damaged.

How do I mount the unit under a cabinet?

Use the included mounting template to mark three 1/4" holes on the underside of the cabinet. Drill holes, insert screws from inside the cabinet, add spacers if there is an overhang, then align the radio under the screws and tighten. See manual for detailed steps. Only a qualified technician should perform installation.

Why is there no sound from the speakers?

Check that the unit is powered on and not muted. Headphones plugged in will mute speakers. Ensure the function is not set to AUX without a device. Also check volume level. If using radio, ensure the station is broadcasting. For CD, ensure a CD is inserted properly.

How do I store radio presets?

Tune to the desired FM station. Press PROG. on the unit or MEM PROG on the remote. The display shows a blinking preset number (P01-P20). Use |◀◀/▶▶| to select the preset, then press PROG./MEM PROG again to store. Repeat for up to 20 stations.

How do I use the sleep timer?

When the unit is on, press the SLEEP button on the remote repeatedly to set a time (e.g., 90, 60, 30, 15 minutes). The display shows "SLEEP". The unit will automatically switch to standby after the selected time. To cancel, press SLEEP until "SLEEP" disappears.

How do I clean the unit?

Always unplug the unit before cleaning. Wipe the exterior with a dry, clean cloth. Do not use chemical cleaners, detergents, or abrasive materials. For the CD lens, use a soft lens cleaner if needed, but do not insert cleaning discs with rough brushes.

What kind of batteries does the backup use?

1. Read Instructions - All the safety and operating instructions should be read before the appliance is operated.

3. Heed Warnings - All warnings on the appliance and in the operating instructions should be adhered to.

Setting a safe volume level

• If you continually listen to loud music, your hearing gradually adapts to it and gives you the impression that the volume is lower.
  • What seems normal to you can be already for long time too loud and unhealthy.
  • To protect yourself from this, set the volume to a low level.
• Increase the volume slowly.
• Damage to your hearing can be extensive and cannot be reversed.

Condensation

Before Mounting

Empty contents of the selected cabinet under which the unit will be mounted and thoroughly clean the underside of the cabinet to remove any grease residue which might be present. We recommend the unit be mounted at the front edge of the cabinet.

Important:

• The installation of the unit under a cabinet should only be carried out by a qualified technician.
• For secure mounting, the screws must go into the radio to a depth of at least 3/8". If the overall length from the bottom of the cabinet shelf to the bottom of the over hand is more the 1-3/4". Then a wood shim will be necessary. A shim can be made from a sheet of plywood, using the Template to located the central lines for drilling the 1/4" mounting holes; the shim can be located between the cabinet shelf bottom and spacers. Make sure the wood is at least as thick as the

exces over 1-3/4" if a shim is necessary, longer screws are required. Longer screws (Type#10-32) are available at most local hardware stores Cut out the template on the line indicated. The template size and the screw hold positions are identical to the top of the clock radio.

Step 1

If your cabinet does not have a overhang :

a) Position template in desired location on underside of cabinet, flush with front edge.

b) Then tape template in pace and go to step 2.

If your cabinet has overhang:

a) Measure the thickness of the overhang.

b) Fold front of the template downward along the printed guideline that is closet to the thickness of your cabinet.

c) Tape fold-down portion to backside of overhand, tape template to cabinet underside.

Note: If your cabinet has glue blocks or other obstructions, cut out corresponding areas on the template to clear them. Do not cut or cut through the screw holes indicated on the template.

CAUTION: It is recommended that safety glasses be worn while drilling screw holes to prevent the possibility of eye injury.

Measure thickness of cabinet overhang

Step 2

Drill 1/4" inches diameter holes through the underside of the cabinet bottom shelf using the three points marked on the template.

Step 3

Remove template and clean drill shavings from inside and underside of cabinet.

Step 4

If your cabinet does not have an overhang. Go to Step 5.

If your cabinet has an overhang. Select the spacer or combination of spacers that is equal to or longer than the cabinet overhang.

Step 5

Insert screws from inside the cabinet. The washers must be used on metal cabinets, and on wood cabinets if you did not countersink the drilled holes. Position washers, flat side down, and place screws into the holes.

If your cabinet does not have an overhang, go to Step 7.

Step 6

Hold screw heads down while you push the selected spacers onto the screws under the cabinet. Be sure to push up spacers until they fully nested (if more then one is in used).

Step 7

Align radio under the screws. Hold the screw holes in the top of the clock radio against the mounting screws and partially tighten the screws.

Do not fully tighten until all 3 screws have been started (the top front edge of the clock radio should clear the overhang.).

First Installation

Power Supply

- Connect the AC plug into a suitable wall outlet. Make sure that the output power of the wall outlet matches the required power supply as indicated on the unit.

Inserting backup batteries (not included):

1. Open the battery compartment cover.

2. Insert 2 batteries "AAA" 1.5V into the battery compartment. These batteries keep at short power outages the clock and the data stored in the processor, but will not be shown in the display. Please observe the correct polarity marked inside the battery compartment ("+" and "-").

3. Place the cover again onto the battery compartment and press it carefully until it snaps in.

Notes:

- If the unit is not in use for a longer period of time, take out the batteries and disconnect the AC plug.

- If the batteries are low on power, the backup function might not work.

Setting the Clock

1. While the unit is in standby mode, press and hold for 2 seconds the PROG. button on the unit or the TIME SET button on the remote control. The hour will blink.
2. Set the desired hour by pressing the |◀◀ / ▶▶| buttons.
3. Press the PROG. button or TIME SET button again. The minutes will start blinking.
4. Set the desired minute by pressing the |◀◀/▶▶| buttons.
5. Press the PROG. button or TIME SET button again to select between 24 and 12 hour display.
6. Press the PROG. button or TIME SET button again to confirm all settings. The time is now set.

Setting an Alarm

1. While the unit is in standby mode, press and hold for 2 seconds the AL. SET button on the unit or on the remote control. The alarm icon (Alarm 1) appears and the hour is blinking.
2. Set the desired hour of Alarm 1 by pressing the |◀◀/▶▶| buttons.
3. Press the AL. SET button again. The minutes will start blinking.
4. Set the desired minutes of Alarm 1 by pressing the |◀◀ / ▶▶| buttons.
5. Press the AL. SET button again. You can now select whether the alarm should go on to Buzzer, Radio or CD:

Wake to Buzzer:

This is the default setting (no indication on the display above the time).

Wake to Radio:

Press the |◀◀/▶▶| buttons until "FM" is shown in the display (above the time). At the set time the alarm will go on at the radio station you last listened to.

Wake to CD:

Press the |◀◀/▶▶| buttons until the CD icon is shown in the display (above the time). This feature only works when you have a CD inserted in the CD drive. This CD will be played at the set alarm time.

1. Press the AL. SET button again to confirm your settings for Alarm 1.
2. The alarm icon (Alarm 2) appears and the hour is blinking.
3. Repeat steps 1 - 6 in order to set Alarm 2.

To select which of the 2 alarms should be active, press the AL. SET button repeatedly while the unit is in standby mode (clock display). The display will show consecutively the Alarm 1 icon, then Alarm 2 icon, then both Alarm icons. Press the AL. SET button once again to deacitvate the alarms (no alarm icon will be displayed).

Snooze Function:

The snooze function allows you to delay an active alarm for 9 minutes. To do so, press the SNOOZE button on the remote control once while the alarm is active. "SNOOZE" will appear in the display. The alarm will stop and come on again after 9 minutes. To turn off the snooze function and the alarm, press the POWER button.

Turning Off the Alarm:

To switch off an alarm while active, press the POWER button on the unit or on the remote control.

Adjusting the Volume

• To increase the volume, press the VOL+ button on the unit or on the remote control.
• To decrease the volume, press the VOL- button on the unit or on the remote control.

LED Downlight

This unit is equipped with an LED downlight for your workspace.

• To turn the light on, press the LIGHT ON/OFF button on the unit.
• The direction of the light can be adjusted. Only do this carefully.
• To turn the light off, press the LIGHT ON/OFF button once again.

Sleep Function

When the unit is switched on you can select a time intervall after which the unit switches itself automatically into standby mode.

• Press the SLEEP button on the remote control repeatedly until the desired time is reached. The display will show "SLEEP".
• With the sleep timer activated you can check how much time is left until the unit switches itself into standby by pressing the SLEEP button once.
• To deactivate the sleep timer, press the SLEEP button repeatedly until "SLEEP" disappears from the display.

Radio

Playing the Radio

1. Press the POWER button to switch the unit on.
2. Press the FUNCTION button to select the FM Radio function ("FM" is shown in the display).
3. To automatically tune to the previously/next available radio station, press and hold for 2 seconds the |◀◀ or ▶▶| button. The tuning will stop at the first station found.
4. To manually tune to a radio station, press the |◀◀ or ▶▶| button repeatedly until you reach the desired frequency.
5. This unit supports FM Stereo reception. If a station is found which broadcasts in stereo, the display will show the stereo symbol.

Station Memory

This unit enables you to store up to 20 radio channels.

1. Search for a desired radio station as described above.
2. To store this radio station in the memory, press the PROG. button on the unit or the MEM PROG button on the remote control. The first memory preset "P01" will blink in the display.
3. By pressing the |◀◀ / ▶▶| buttons, select the preset (P01 - P20) on which you would like to store the tuned in radio station.
4. Press the PROG. button the unit or the MEM PROG button on the remote control once again to confirm.
5. Repeat steps 1 - 4 to store up to 20 radio stations.

Note: A stored frequency can only be erased by storing another frequency in its place.

Selecting a Stored Radio Station

In order to recall a stored radio station, turn on the radio and press the M-/M+ buttons repeatedly until you reach the desired memory preset.

Note: When you disconnect the AC power or in case of a power outage, the preset stations will be lost and must be reset, unless you have backup batteries installed.

CD Player

CD Playback

1. Press the POWER button to switch the unit on.
2. Press the FUNCTION button to select the CD function (CD symbol is shown in the display).
3. Press the OPEN/CLOSE button to open the CD drawer.

4. Insert a disc with the printed side facing up. Ensure that the disc is inserted correctly.

5. Press the OPEN/CLOSE button again to close the CD drawer.

6. Press the ▶/|| PLAY/PAUSE button to start playback.
7. To pause playback temporarily, press the ▶/|| PLAY/PAUSE button. To resume playback, press it again.
8. To stop playback, press the ■ STOP button.

Fast Forward / Fast Rewind & Skipping Tracks

• To jump to the beginning of the currently playing track, press the |◀◀ SKIP- button once. Press it a second time to skip to the previous track.
  • To skip to the next track, press the ▶▶| SKIP+ button once.
• To fast forward the currently playing track, press and hold the ▶▶| SKIP+ button. Once you reach the desired section of the track, release the button to resume normal playback.
• To fast rewind the currently playing track, press and hold the |◀◀ SKIP- button. Once you reach the desired section of the track, release the button to resume normal playback.

Repeat Function & Random Play

This unit enables you to repeatedly play one track or the whole disc.

1. During CD playback, press the ☐ RANDOM/REPEAT button once to repeat the current track repeatedly. The display will show "REPEAT".
2. Press the ☐ RANDOM/REPEAT button a second time to repeat the complete disc. The display will show "REPEAT ALL".
3. When you press the 📄 RANDOM/REPEAT button a third time, the unit will switch to random playback: All tracks on the CD will now be played in random order and the display shows "RAND".
4. To exit Repeat and Random modes, press the ↩ RANDOM/REPEAT button a fourth time.

Program Function

You can select up to 20 tracks to be played in a specific order determined by you.

1. While in CD stop mode (with a disc inserted) press the PROG. button on the unit or the MEM PROG button on the remote control. The first memory preset "01" will blink in the display.
2. By pressing the |◀◀/▶▶| buttons, select the track to be played first. Press the PROG. button on the unit or the MEM PROG button on the remote control again to confirm your selection.
3. The second memory preset "02" will blink in the display. Repeat step 2 to select up to 20 tracks for your order.
4. To start playback of your programmed order, press the ▶/|| PLAY/PAUSE button.
5. To stop playback, press the ■ STOP button.
6. To clear your programmed order, press the ■ STOP button once again.

AUX Input

You can connect the audio output of an external device such as an MP3 player to this unit to listen to the sound of that device through the amplifier of this music system.

• To connect the external device please use a standard stereo audio cable (3.5 mm to 3.5 mm plugs) (not included) to connect the headphone out or audio line out of the external device to the AUX input socket of this unit.
• Press the FUNCTION button to select "AUX".
• Switch the external device (e.g. MP3 player) on.
• Start playback of the external device and adjust the volume control of the main unit to the desired level.
• Remember to switch off the unit when you are finished using the external device.

Headphone Connector

You can connect headphones to the 3,5 mm headphone jack on the unit.

Once the headphones are connected, the speakers will be turned off. To turn the speakers back on, unplug the headphones from the unit.

Please mind the safety instructions concerning the use of headphones.
