Frequently Asked Questions - Z31439 SILVERCREST

How do I change the unit of weight on my SilverCrest Z31439 scale?
Slide the kg/lb/st switch located on the scale to select kilograms (kg), pounds (lb), or stones (st). The display will show the corresponding unit.
What does the 'Lo' display mean on the scale?
'Lo' indicates a low battery. Replace the CR2032 button cell battery with a new one of the same type.
What should I do if the scale shows 'OL'?
'OL' means the scale is overloaded. The maximum capacity is 180 kg (396 lb / 28 st). Step off immediately to avoid damage.
How do I clean the glass platform?
Use a slightly damp cloth. For stubborn dirt, use a weak soap solution. Never immerse the scale in water or other liquids.
Why does the scale show an incorrect weight after moving it?
The scale needs recalibration after a change of location. Step on once, step off, wait for auto-off, then step on again for the correct reading.
Can I use the scale on carpet?
For accurate results, place the scale on a solid, flat horizontal surface like tile or hardwood. Carpet may cause inaccurate readings.
How do I replace the battery?
Open the battery compartment cover on the bottom, remove the old CR2032 battery, insert the new one with correct polarity (+/-), and close the cover.
What should I do if the scale doesn't turn on?
Check the battery polarity and insertion. If the battery is weak, replace it. Also ensure the insulation strip has been removed for first use.
Is the scale safe for children?
The scale is not a toy. Keep children away from the device and packaging materials to prevent suffocation or injury.
What is the maximum weight this scale can measure?
The maximum capacity is 180 kg (396 lb / 28 st). Exceeding this may break the glass and cause injury.

Before first use

- Removing the insulation strips

Note: The product is supplied with the battery already in place. Before first use pull the insulation strip out from between the battery and the battery compartment.

● Preparing for use

- Inserting the battery

See Fig 4 and 5.
☐ If the scales do not appear to work, check that the battery has been inserted correctly and reinsert it if necessary.

Note: The display indicates when it is time to replace the battery. When you step on to the scales and the battery is too weak, the LC display shows "Lo" (see Fig. C) and the scales switch off automatically.

☐ If you see this message, replace the exhausted battery with a new battery of the same type.
☐ When you insert the battery, make sure that the contacts do not get bent.

- Setting the units of weight

Note: The standard unit of weight is kilogram (kg). The factory default setting for the scales as supplied is "kg".

☐ Slide the kg / lb / st switch to select the unit of weight. The units will be displayed in the LC display as follows:

Kilogram (kg): see Figure A Pound (lb): see Figure E Stone (st): see Figure F

- Switching on your scales / measuring your weight

① Tip: Weigh yourself at the same time of day (preferably in the morning) after visiting the toilet, with an empty stomach and without clothing to ensure that your results are compatible.

Place the scales down on a solid, flat horizontal surface.
Step on to the scales.
Place even weight on each leg.

☐ If at all possible stand on the same areas of the

platform each time and do not move. Moving during the weighing process can lead to discrepancies in the results.

The scales will start to measure immediately. After blinking 2 times, the weight display will display the result, as shown in, for example, Fig. B.

Note: If the scales show "OL" (see Fig. D), it signals that the scales are overloaded. Observe the maximum capacity of 180 kg (396 lb / 28 st).

☐ Step off the platform. The scales switch off automatically after about 10 seconds. Until then the weight measurement remains visible.
Note: After a change of location and following every battery change, the scales must be re-calibrated. To do this, proceed as follows:
☐ Step onto the scales. The scales will show you an incorrect measuring result. Step off the platform. The scales will calibrate automatically.
☐ Wait until the scales switch off automatically.
☐ Step onto the scales once again. The scales will show you the correct measuring result.

☐ This appliance has delicate electronic components. This means that if it is placed near an object that transmits radio signals, it could cause interference. If the display indicates a problem, move such objects away from it.
Electrostatic charge can lead to the appliance failing. In cases of the appliance failing to work remove the batteries for a short while and then replace them.

- Cleaning

☐ Clean the device using a slightly moist cloth. For more stubborn dirt you can also apply a weak soap solution to the cloth.
