BEFORE THE FIRST USE

  • Remove all packaging materials and clean the appliance carefully before using for the first time (see "Cleaning and maintenance").
  • The appliance heats up during use, so place the appliance on a heat-resistant surface and never put it on a plastic table or plastic tablecloth.
  • Make sure there is adequate ventilation around the appliance. Turn the teppanyaki plate on for 10 minutes without putting any food on it. There will be a small amount of smoke and a slight odour that will disappear quickly. This is normal. Clean the teppanyaki plate with absorbent paper or a clean dry cloth to remove any residue.
  • It is recommended that you grease the griddle with a small amount of oil when using it for the very first time.

Make sure that sharp objects such as forks do not damage the special coating on the teppanyaki. Small fragments could become loose and your appliance could get irreparably damaged. Always use wooden spatulas or a heat-resistant plastic model.

USE

Set the thermostat to o and plug the adaptor into the appliance. Put the plug in the socket.

SETTING THE TEMPERATURE

  • You can set the temperature of the appliance as desired. The temperature ranges from a minimum of 'o' to a maximum of '5'. A medium temperature is recommended.
  • This switch is also the on/off switch, and o is the off position.
  • Turn the temperature regulator to the desired position. The red indicator light will light up to show that the appliance is in use.

HOT ZONE

The teppanyaki grill plate is equipped with a 'hot zone'. This zone becomes hotter than the rest of the teppanyaki grill plate – up to 250^ C – and can be used for cooking food quickly, while the rest of the teppanyaki grill plate can be used for slower preparation of other foods.

TIPS

  • Defrost frozen food before laying it on the teppanyaki.
  • In order to grill meat adjust the thermostat to maximum and make sure that the appliance is thoroughly heated before laying the meat on the griddle.
  • If you only need to use a part of the teppanyaki, then place the food in the middle to obtain the ideal cooking result.

CLEANING AND MAINTENANCE

  • Set the thermostat to minimum (o), remove the plug from the socket and wait until the teppanyaki has cooled down completely.
  • It is recommended that all food residues be removed with a wooden spatula or a heat-resistant plastic utensil while the appliance is still hot. If the residues dry up, they will be harder to remove.
  • Do not immerse any part of the teppanyaki plate in water or any other liquid. Should water get on the electrical contacts, dry them off carefully.
  • Wipe the baking tray clean with a soft cloth or kitchen roll. For the removal of dried food residues, use a soft sponge with hot water and a small amount of dish-washing detergent.
  • The catch basin for fat and moisture can be removed for easy cleaning. Clean it in hot water using a mild detergent.
  • Do not use any corrosive or abrasive products or brushes.
