Hedge trimmer safety warnings

Keep all body parts away from the blade. Do not remove the cut material or hold the cut material while the blades are in motion. The blades continue to move after the switch is turned off. A moment's inattention when operating a hedge trimmer can cause serious injury.

Carry the hedge trimmer by holding the handle with the blade stopped and being careful not to use any power switch. Proper handling of the hedge trimmer will reduce the risk of unintentional triggering and resulting injury from the blades.

When transporting or storing the hedge trimmer always fit the blade guard. Proper handling of the hedge trimmer will reduce the risk of injury from the blades.

When removing blocked material or servicing the tool, make sure all power switches are turned off and the power cord is unplugged. Unexpected activation of the hedge trimmer when removing blocked material or servicing can cause serious injury. Hold the hedge trimmer only by the insulated handles, as the blade may come into contact with concealed electrical wires or its own power cord. Contact of the blades with a live wire can result in exposed metal parts of the hedge trimmer becoming energised and give the operator an electric shock.

Keep wires and power cords away from the cutting area. Power cords or cables can be hidden in hedges or bushes and can be accidentally cut by the blade.

Do not use hedge trimmers in poor weather conditions, especially if there is a risk of lightning. This avoids the risk of being struck by lightning.

PRODUCT OPERATION

Preparing the trimmer for use

Caution! Disconnect the tool from the power supply before performing any assembly and adjustment work. In the case of mains-powered trimmer, disconnect it from the socket, and for battery-powered tools – disconnect their batteries.

Visually inspect the tool. If any damage is discovered, do not commence work before removing it. Slide the guard off the blades and check for damage.

Handle angle adjustment (II)

The trimmer has an angled handle option. This is helpful when shaping, for example, the vertical part of a hedge, as it allows an ergonomic grip on the trimmer. The rear handle can be rotated by moving the latch button towards the front of the tool and holding it in this position. Then turn the handle. The handle can only be adjusted in several positions marked on the housing. Once the handle is set at the desired angle, release the latch button and ensure that the handle is locked in the set position. A correctly adjusted handle cannot be adjusted other than according to the procedure described above.

Preparing the workplace

Before commencing work, prepare the workplace. Designate a safety zone around the work area where bystanders will not have access. Ensure that there are no obstacles around the workplace which could cause the operator or the trimmer to collide during work.

Connecting the trimmer to the power supply (III)

Slide the battery into the power socket until the battery latches engage. Make sure that the battery will not slide out on its own during operation.

Disconnect the battery by pressing the latch and then pulling the battery out of the trimmer housing.

Starting and stopping the trimmer

Ensure that the battery is connected to the trimmer and that there is no guard on the blades and that the blades do not come into contact with any part of the body or other objects.

Keep posture which guarantees balance. Grasp the front handle with one hand and press the switch lock. Grasp the rear handle with the other hand. Pressing the switch will activate the trimmer. Keep the on/off switch lock and the on/off switch depressed at all times during operation.

The trimmer stops when the pressure on the power switch is released. The trimmer will also stop when the pressure on the switch lock is released, but in this case the blades remain in motion for longer.

Once the trimmer movement has come to a complete stop, disconnect it from the power supply by disconnecting the battery. Next, proceed with maintenance.

Working with the trimmer

Do not allow the device to operate at low speed or during start-up.

The most effective work is if the cutting is done in full wide movements. For greater efficiency, the trimmer can be tilted at an angle of 5-10^ in the cutting direction (IV).

To achieve an even single hedge height, you can use string stretched along the cutting line. Cut the part of the hedge above the line. Vertical cutting of the hedge is possible. It is advisable to cut in a curved motion from bottom to top and then from top to bottom to use both sides of the blades (V).

EN

Working tips

Maintain balance and proper posture during work. Exercise particular caution when working on a slippery, inclined, or uneven surface.

Constantly keep an eye on the blades during operation. Do not mow in places which are out of sight.

Before starting work, inspect the workplace thoroughly, remove all loose branches and residues from the previous mowing.

Special care should be taken when treating tall hedges. The other side of the hedge should also be checked before starting work.

The trimmer gear cover heats up during operation. To avoid burns, avoid contact with the gearbox cover.

Take regular breaks when working. During operation, the tool emits noise and vibration, which impact the tool's operator. Taking regular breaks and wearing personal protective equipment such as gloves, hearing protectors and eye protection allows to reduce the impact of the tool on the operator's well-being.

Start work when healthy and in good shape. In case of nausea, headache, sight problems (e.g., reduced visual range), hearing problems, or dizziness, immediately stop operating the tool.

If the trimmer jams during operation switch it off immediately using the on/off switch and disconnect the battery, wait until the shear components have cooled completely and then proceed to remove the cause of the jam.

If, due to jamming, any part of the blades or cover is damaged or deformed, replace or repair it before resuming work.

Safety instructions for battery charging

Caution! Before starting charging, make sure that the power unit body, cable and plug are not cracked or damaged. It is forbidden to use a defective or damaged charging station and power unit! Use only the supplied charging station and power unit to charge the batteries. The use of another power unit may result in fire or damage to the tool. The battery should only be charged in a closed, dry room, protected against unauthorised access, especially by children. Do not use the charging station and power unit without the constant supervision of an adult! If you need to leave the room where the product is being charged, disconnect the charger from the mains by removing the power unit's plug from the mains socket. If smoke, suspicious odours, etc. are escaping from the charger, remove the charger plug from the mains socket immediately! The tool is supplied with an uncharged battery and should therefore be charged according to the procedure described below with the included power unit and charging station before use. Li-ion (lithium-ion) batteries do not have the so-called “memory effect”, which means they can be recharged at any time. However, it is recommended to discharge the battery during normal operation and then charge it to full capacity. If, due to the nature of work, it is not possible to use the battery in such a manner every time, it should be done at least every several work cycles. Never discharge any batteries by short-circuiting the battery plates, as this will cause irreparable damage! In addition, do not check the battery charge status by short-circuiting the electrodes and checking their sparking.

Storing the battery

Ensure the proper storage conditions to extend the battery's life. The battery can withstand approximately 500 charge-discharge cycles. Store the battery at a temperature ranging from 0^ to 30^ at a relative air humidity of 50% . Charge the battery to approx. 70% of its total capacity to store it for a longer period of time. In case of prolonged storage, the battery should be periodically charged once a year. Do not over-discharge the battery as this will shorten its life and may cause irreparable damage.

During storage, the battery will gradually discharge due to leakage. The self-discharge process depends on the storage temperature – the higher the temperature is, the faster the discharge process is. If the batteries are stored incorrectly, the electrolyte may leak. In case of leakage, secure the leak with a neutralising agent. In the case of electrolyte contact with eyes, rinse eyes thoroughly with water, and immediately seek medical attention. It is not allowed to use the tool with a damaged battery.

If the battery is completely worn, return it to a specialist waste disposal centre.

Transporting the batteries

Lithium-ion batteries are treated as hazardous goods according to legal regulations. The user of the tool can transport the product together with the battery and the batteries alone by land. In that case, no additional conditions have to be met. If you entrust transport to third parties (e.g. a courier company), follow the regulations regarding the transport of hazardous goods. Before shipping, please contact a properly qualified person. It is not allowed to transport damaged batteries. For the duration of transport, remove the demountable batteries from the product and secure the exposed contacts, e.g. by covering them with insulation tape. Protect the batteries in the packaging in such a way that they do not move inside the packaging during transport. National regulations for the transport of hazardous materials must also be observed.

Charging the battery

Caution! Before charging, disconnect the charging station power unit from the mains by removing the plug from the mains socket. In addition, clean the battery and battery clamps of dirt and dust with a soft, dry cloth.

The battery has a built-in charge indicator. The LEDs will light up by pressing the button (VII), the more of them come on, the more charged the battery is. If the LEDs do not light up when the button is pressed, the battery is discharged.

Disconnect the battery from the tool.

Slide the battery into the charger socket (VII).

Plug the charger into a mains socket.

The red LED will light up, which indicates the charging process.

EN

When charging is complete, the red LED will turn off and the green LED will light up to indicate that the battery is fully charged.

Pull the power unit plug out of the mains socket.

Pull the battery out of the charging station by pressing the battery latch button.

Caution! If the green LED lights up when the charger is connected to the mains, the battery is fully charged. In this case, the charger will not start the charging process.

PRODUCT MAINTENANCE AND STORAGE

Caution! Before starting any activities described below, disconnect the trimmer from mains. In the case of mains-powered tools, disconnect them from the socket, and for battery-powered tools - disconnect their batteries.

After each use, inspect the condition of the tool with particular attention to the patency of ventilation openings.

Check the placement of all of the tool's components. Tighten all loose screw connections, if any. Check the condition of the blades.

Clean it with a brush and then preserve them with a spray lubricant. Excess lubricant should be wiped off. If you notice any damage or dulling of the blades, replace them at an authorised service centre.

It is forbidden to use shears with damaged blades.

Ensure that the blades are always lubricated. This will prevent the appearance of rust, which reduces the performance of the tool and can also increase the risk of injury. The clearance between the blades should be between 0.2 and 0.4 mm, measured at the point where the blades are bolted together.

The blades are sharpened at the factory to achieve optimum performance, but become dull as a result of use. The condition of the blades should be assessed before starting any work. If rounding of the upper edge of the blades is discovered or if the roundness of the lower part of the blade disappears, the blades must be sharpened (VI). The sharpening must be done at an authorised manufacturer service centre.

Before storing the trimmer for an extended period of time, the blades should be sprayed with a preservative or spread over the blades with a brush. Excess preservative should not be removed until immediately before work. This maintenance will reduce the risk of the blades rusting.

Clean the tool's housing with a soft and dry cloth. Clean the housing from residues of wood, oil, grease, and other contaminants.

The tool should be stored in a dry, closed room, disconnected from the mains.

Store the tool in shaded and dry places with appropriate ventilation preventing steam condensation. Such place should not be accessible to unauthorised persons, especially children. During storage, the blades should always be protected with a cover.
