How do I format a hard drive/SSD for use with the DA-6400DP?

To format a hard drive/SSD, go to the MEDIA menu, select QUICK FORMAT or FULL FORMAT. Choose the media to format and confirm. Caution: formatting erases all data. Always use the unit to format media, as formatting by a computer may cause errors.

What types of hard drives/SSDs are compatible?

This unit uses 2.5-inch SSDs. A TASCAM SSD is supplied and compatible models are available as options. Visit the TEAC global website for a list of verified media.

How to record on all channels simultaneously?

By default, all channels are armed (REC FUNCTION set to ALL ON). To check, press MENU, go to REC FILE FORMAT then REC FUNCTION. You can also set individually via Individual mode.

How to synchronize the unit to an external timecode?

Connect a timecode source to the TIMECODE IN (BNC) connector. In the menu, go to TC SETUP 1 and set TC GENERATOR MODE to FREE RUN or EXT SYNC. The TC indicator on the front panel lights up green if timecode is received correctly.

How to update the firmware?

Download the update file from the TEAC website and copy it to a USB flash drive. Insert the flash drive into the front USB port. In the SYSTEM SETUP menu, select F/W UPDATE and follow the instructions. Do not remove the flash drive during the update.

How to connect the unit to a network?

Connect an Ethernet cable to the ETHERNET (RJ-45) connector on the rear. In the NETWORK menu, configure the IP address (DHCP or manual) and password. You can then use FTP, Telnet, or VNC.

How to use remote control via parallel port?

The PARALLEL connector (D-sub 15-pin) allows control of transport (PLAY, STOP, etc.) and reception of tally signals. Pins are programmable in the PARALLEL INPUT and PARALLEL OUTPUT menus. By default, pins 12 (STOP), 13 (PLAY) are assigned.

What to do if the INFO indicator is red?

A red INFO indicator indicates an error or warning. Press the INFO button to display the error message on the screen. Refer to the troubleshooting guide in the manual to resolve the issue (e.g., overheating, disk problem).

How to back up system settings?

In the SYSTEM SETUP menu, select SYSTEM BACKUP. Choose EXPORT to save settings to a USB flash drive. To restore, use IMPORT with the flash drive containing the backup file.

How to restore factory settings?

In the SYSTEM SETUP menu, select FACTORY PRESET. A confirmation message appears; hold the wheel pressed to confirm. This erases all custom settings and restarts the unit.
