4.1. USE THE APPLIANCE AS EFFECTIVELY AS POSSIBLE
The energy consumption per cycle depends, among other things, on the program selected, the amount of laundry and the maintenance of the appliance.
The ECO programme at full and partial load is the standard programme on which the information on energy consumption is based. This programme is suitable for washing normal cotton laundry and is the most energy efficient programme for cotton.
Factors that cause the appliance to wash less well include, for example:
- choosing the wrong program;
• too much laundry in the washing drum; - irregular maintenance:
- presence of a lot of dirt in the pump filter;
- presence of dirt in the water inlet filter;
- low ambient temperature.
To use the appliance as effectively as possible:
- Clean the appliance every two months (see chapter 5).
-
Do not use a pre-wash if the clothes are only lightly soiled.
-
When using the pre-wash function, put 14 of the detergent to be used in the pre-wash compartment. Put the rest in the detergent compartment.
- Sort the laundry according to the material and select the appropriate programme to wash.
- Close bedding and pillowcases to prevent smaller items of laundry from being rolled in during washing.
- Do not place more than the recommended amount of dry laundry in the washing drum and pay attention to the maximum load capacity of the appliance. As a reference for the weight of individual pieces of laundry, the following table can be used (weights are guidelines and actual weights may differ):
| TYPE OF CLOTHING | REFERENCE WEIGHT | TYPE OF CLOTHING | REFERENCE WEIGHT |
| T-shirts (cotton) 180 g Pillowcase 200 g | |||
| Jacket (cotton) 800 g Bedspread 700 g | |||
| Tablecloth | 250 g | Bathrobe | 1200 g |
| Underwear | 100 g | Bath towel 200 g | |
| Bed linen | 500 g | ||

4.3. PREPARING FOR A WASH
-
Prepare the laundry:
-
Read the washing instructions on the washing labels.
- Sort the laundry according to colour and specific washing instructions.
• Empty any bags of clothing. - Tie laces or other long pieces of textile.
- Close belts, zips, and buttons.
- Put small garments in a laundry net.
-
Turn garments inside out to prevent lint and fading.
-
Fill the appliance. Please refer to section 4.4 for the filling weight per laundry programme.
- For optimum energy and water saving, always fill the appliance to the maximum capacity of the laundry programme.
- Close the door.

NOTE
- The appliance features a half-load sensing system. If the sensing system detects less than half the maximum load capacity, the machine automatically sets the half load function. The half load function ensures that the selected programme will be shortened, consuming less water and energy.
4.4. TURNING THE APPLIANCE ON AND OFF
- Insert the plug in an earthed socket.
- Turn the control knob to the desired laundry programme.
The control panel lights up and the appliance is switched on.
- Turn the control knob to OFF.
The appliance is turned off.

- The set program and any additional functions set are erased when the appliance is turned off and on.
4.5. STARTING THE LAUNDRY PROGRAMME
- Turn the control knob to the desired laundry programme.
- If necessary, adapt the programme, see section 4.5 for the possibilities.
- Press the start/pause button.
The following table provides an overview of a number of laundry programmes.
The standard programmes in the table below can be adapted, such as temperature, programme time and rotation speed; see section 4.5 for this.

According to regulations 1015/2010 and 1061/2010, the Cotton and ECO 40 - 60 programmes are the 'standard 60°C cotton programme' and 'standard 40°C cotton programme' respectively.
The ECO 40-60 programme is used to check compliance with EU eco design rules. Laundry for 40°C and laundry for 60°C can be washed with this programme. The programme has only one temperature and cannot be adjusted. Do you want to wash the laundry at 60°C to kill bacteria, for example? Then do not choose this programme. In that case, choose the regular cotton programme.
Section 4.15 sets out the detailed specifications of these laundry programmes with regard to water and energy consumption, duration and moisture percentage.
* Programme wash temperature is the factory default setting.
** Quick wash function is available. Enable the quick wash option on the control panel and load the washing drum with 2 kg or less to wash laundry in 30 minutes.
*** Use less detergent. The programme may take longer if the appliance detects an uneven load. Open the machine door two minutes after washing.
