FOOD CHOPPER SAFETY

Your safety and the safety of others are very important.

We have provided many important safety messages in this manual and on your appliance. Always read and obey all safety messages.

This is the safety alert symbol.

This symbol alerts you to potential hazards that can kill or hurt you and others.

All safety messages will follow the safety alert symbol and either the word "DANGER" or "WARNING." These words mean:

When using electrical appliances, basic safety precautions should always be followed, including the following:

1. Read all instructions.
2. To protect against risk of electrical shock, do not put motor body, cord, or electrical plug of this Food Chopper in water or other liquid.
3. This appliance is not intended for use by persons (including children) with reduced physical, sensory, or mental capabilities, or lack of experience or knowledge, unless they are closely supervised and instructed concerning use of the appliance by a person responsible for their safety. Close supervision is necessary when any appliance is used by or near children. Children should be supervised to ensure that they do not play with the appliance.
4. Turn the appliance OFF, then unplug from outlet when not in use, before assembling or disassembling parts, and before cleaning. To unplug, grasp the plug and pull from the outlet. Never pull from the power cord.
5. Avoid contacting moving parts.
6. Do not operate any appliance with a damaged cord or plug, or after the appliance malfunctions, or is dropped or damaged in any manner. Return appliance to the nearest Authorized Service Center for examination, repair, or electrical or mechanical adjustment.
7. The use of attachments not recommended or sold by the manufacturer may cause fire, electric shock, or injury.

9. Do not let cord hang over edge of table or counter.
10. Keep hands and utensils away from the cutting blade while chopping food to reduce the risk of severe injury to person, or damage to the Food Chopper. A scraper may be used, but only when the Food Chopper is not running.
11. Blade is sharp. Handle carefully.

FOOD CHOPPER SAFETY

1. To reduce the risk of injury, never place cutting blade on base without first putting bowl properly in place.
2. Be certain cover is securely locked in place before operating the Food Chopper.
3. Do not attempt to defeat the cover interlock mechanism.

NOTE: This Food Chopper has a polarized plug (one blade is wider than the other). To reduce the risk of electrical shock, this plug will fit in a polarized outlet only one way. If the plug does not fit fully in the outlet, reverse the plug. If it still does not fit, contact a qualified electrician. Do not modify the plug in any way.

Do not use an extension cord. If the power supply cord is too short, have a qualified electrician or serviceman install an outlet near the appliance.

A short power supply cord (or detachable power supply cord) should be used to reduce the risk resulting from becoming entangled in or tripping over a longer cord.

WHISKING ACCESSORY RECOMMENDATIONS CHART

The whisking accessory can be used to incorporate air into foods such as eggs, egg whites, heavy cream, mayonnaise, etc. Use the drizzle basin and pour spout to easily make mayonnaise or dressings.

USING THE FOOD CHOPPER

MULTIPURPOSE BLADE RECOMMENDATIONS CHART

Use the multipurpose blade to chop raw fruits, vegetables, or nuts and to mince parsley, chives, or garlic for easy preparation in your favorite recipes. Purée cooked fruit or vegetables to make baby food, or to use as bases for soups or sauces. You can also make bread crumbs or grind raw meat.

NOTE: For best results, larger food items should be cut to approximately 1-inch cubes before processing. This step also allows processing of more food at a single time.

IMPORTANT: Do not process coffee beans or hard spices such as nutmeg, which may damage the Food Chopper.

USING THE FOOD CHOPPER

PREPARING THE FOOD CHOPPER FOR USE

Before first use

Before using the Food Chopper for the first time, wash the work bowls, lids, whisking accessory, and blade in hot, soapy water. Work bowls, lids, whisking accessory, and blade may also be washed in the top rack of a dishwasher.

For convenient storage, always reassemble the Food Chopper after cleaning.

DISASSEMBLING THE FOOD CHOPPER

Follow these instructions to disassemble the Food Chopper for cleaning and when removing ingredients from the work bowl.

Be sure the Food Chopper is unplugged. Hold the lid as shown, and rotate it clockwise to unlock. Then, lift the lid off of the work bowl.

Pull the blade straight up to remove it from the work bowl.

Pull the drive adaptor straight up to remove it from the work bowl.

Hold the base steady with one hand, and use the other hand to rotate the work bowl clockwise to unlock and lift it off of the base.

USING THE FOOD CHOPPER

ASSEMBLING AND RUNNING THE FOOD CHOPPER

IMPORTANT: Be sure the Food Chopper is unplugged before assembling.

1		Start with the work bowl handle facing front on the base. Rotate the handle 90° counterclockwise to lock into place. When assembled properly, the handle will face the right side.
2		Fit drive adapter over the shaft in the center of the work bowl, then rotate and lower the drive adapter until it rests at the bottom of the work bowl.
3		If using the blade, fit the blade over the drive adapter, then rotate and lower the blade until it rests at the bottom of the work bowl. If using the whisking accessory, see “Using the whisking accessory” section.

NOTE: Do not try to install more than one accessory at a time. The Food Chopper will operate with either the blade or the whisking accessory in place, not both.

Place ingredients to be processed inside the work bowl. For uniform consistency of processed foods, cut fruits, vegetables, and meats into 1-inch pieces.

IMPORTANT: Do not process coffee beans or hard spices such as nutmeg as they may damage the Food Chopper.

Place the lid on the work bowl with the lid handle facing front. Rotate the lid handle counterclockwise until it locks into place. The lid will click when properly locked into place.

NOTE: The work bowl and lid must be locked into place for the Food Chopper to operate.

USING THE FOOD CHOPPER

Slide the Chop/Purée lever to your desired setting. Press down on the PULSE/ON button to start the Food Chopper.

For a coarse chop, use a pulsing motion to rapidly press and release the PULSE/ON button until your desired results are achieved.

USING THE WHISKING ACCESSORY

Fit the whisking accessory over the drive adapter, then rotate and press down until it rests at the bottom of the work bowl.

USING THE DRIZZLE BASIN AND POUR SPOUT

Use the drizzle basin to conveniently add liquid ingredients while processing dressings, mayonnaises, emulsions, sauces, and more. Use the pour spout for easier serving.

Press rapidly up and down on the PULSE/ON button to get your ingredients moving in the work bowl.

Slowly pour liquids, such as oil, into the drizzle basin. The liquid will be efficiently and thoroughly mixed into the ingredients as they spin inside the work bowl.

Once processing is complete, remove the lid and blade to use the pour spout.

CARE AND CLEANING

IMPORTANT: Be sure the Food Chopper is unplugged before taking off or putting on parts and before cleaning.

1		Remove the work bowl, lid, and accessories.
2		The work bowls, lids, whisking accessory, and blade can be washed in the top dishwasher rack; or, wash all parts in hot, soapy water. Rinse and dry.
3		Wipe the base clean with a damp cloth. Do not use abrasive cleaners. Do not immerse the base in water.
4		Wrap the cord counterclockwise around the base for easy storage.

TROUBLESHOOTING

If your Food Chopper should malfunction or fail to operate, check the following:

1. Is the Food Chopper plugged in?
2. Make sure that the bowl and lid are properly aligned and locked into place.
3. Press the PULSE/ON button with a rapid up and down motion. Do not hold down continuously.

4. Unplug the Food Chopper, then plug it back into the outlet.

5. Is the fuse in the circuit to the Food Chopper in working order? If you have a circuit breaker box, be sure the circuit is closed.

If the problem is not due to one of the above items, see the "Warranty and Service" section.

Do not return the Food Chopper to the retailer. Retailers do not provide service.

2. Technical specifications, conditions of installation, use, maintenance and repair:

The technical specifications for correct product customization, installation and operation, the conditions and specifications for use, and those regarding repairs, including where they will be performed and how to make use of the Warranty granted by this Warranty Certificate - including contact information for the purchase of legitimate replacement parts - are detailed in this Certificate and in the corresponding User's Manual, of which this document is an integral part.

Service may be requested under this Warranty in person and/or by phone and/or email by contacting the Guarantor's Customer Service Center.

3. Validity conditions and extension terms of the warranty and rights of the Beneficiary/Holder

- The Beneficiary/Holder of the Warranty contained in this Certificate has the right to demand that the Guarantor provide the skilled labor and replacement parts required to repair and ensure proper operation of the guaranteed product, free of charge, to the Beneficiary/Holder. The Guarantor, in turn, is obligated to do so when the product requires service due to defects or failures of the appliance or its components, as long as they occur under normal operating conditions. The product serial number is indicated at the end of point 5 of this document, and/or on the product label, and/or in the User's Manual supplied with the product, of which this Certificate is an integral part.

- The validity period of the Warranty granted through this document is one (1) year from the original date of purchase by the end user of the guaranteed product. During this period, the Guarantor will ensure that the product is repaired free of charge under the terms indicated above.

- The Guarantor undertakes to repair the guaranteed product within thirty (30) working days of the entry date of the service request, except in the event of shipping delays for parts originating from other countries, or lack of provision and/or stock of replacement parts for reasons beyond the Guarantor's control. In any case, the Beneficiary/Holder will be informed in a timely manner of any delays that may affect the time required to repair the guaranteed product.

- The Beneficiary/Holder of the Warranty contained in this Certificate may transfer the warranty along with the guaranteed product during its validity period. In this case, the Guarantor will only recognize the new Beneficiary for the remainder of the validity period.

- The validity of the Warranty granted through this document is subject to the guaranteed product being used exclusively for domestic purposes in accordance with the other conditions established in this Certificate. It also requires that the product be used under normal conditions in accordance with the specifications, terms and conditions indicated in the User's Manual, of which this Warranty Certificate is an integral part.

- In addition, for the Warranty to be valid, the product must be used and installed in accordance with the instructions and recommendations established in the User's Manual.

- Be sure to keep the product protected from the effects of weather (e.g., heat, humidity, cold, rain), and do not place it outdoors.

4. This product Warranty does not cover:

- Damage caused by incorrect, inappropriate, or illegal installation of the product.

- Damage caused by an installation and/or correction of a poor installation performed by third parties not authorized by the Guarantor.

- Damage to the product and/or any other part/replacement part of the product due to inadequate voltage, defective electrical installations, and/or electric current fluctuations.

- Damage caused by incorrect use of the product.

- Damage caused by elements foreign to the product.

- Damage caused by undue use of chemical or abrasive cleaners, not designed or recommended for cleaning appliances.

- Damage to glass, porcelain, plastic, rubber, or painted parts.

- Damage caused by normal product deterioration or misuse.

- Damage caused by accident, or by any human or natural act that could be considered a fortuitous event or force majeure.

- Damage caused by rodents, insects, or any other animal.

- Damage caused by blows, falls, and/or scratches.

- Failures in light bulbs or lamps in products featuring interior lighting.

- When the failure, damage, or defect is due to transport and/or handling by a third party not authorized by the Guarantor.

- General product maintenance tasks not motivated by failures and/or not included in repairs arising from warranty claims.

- Freight/transport and/or product delivery expenses for product repair purposes when not authorized by the Guarantor.

- Replacement of accessories supplied with the product.

NOTE: The Warranty will be void if the repair and/or handling of the guaranteed product has been performed by service technicians not authorized by the Guarantor, and/or due to the use of non-original replacement parts.

The Guarantor is not responsible for any direct and/or indirect material and/or personal damage or injury that could be suffered by the purchaser, consumer, and/or third parties in connection with the guaranteed product, due to non-compliance with the instructions contained in the User's Manual for the product covered by this warranty, of which this Warranty Certificate is an integral part, and particularly those caused by non-compliance with current standards and regulations governing home installations.

This Warranty does not constitute, and under no circumstances may be interpreted as, an extension of the terms and conditions of the legal product warranty established by local law. This Warranty does not grant the Beneficiary/Holder any rights other than those expressly indicated in this document. The above is without prejudice to the Legal Warranty recognized by each country, which will be effective under the terms of applicable local laws in the event of discrepancies.

The Warranty granted through this Warranty Certificate is only legal during the time period stipulated locally as such by law. In this sense, it is regarded as conventional with regard to the validity period granted beyond the minimum term required by the applicable regulations in each country.
