USER MANUAL Power Space RO2325 ROWENTA

For your safety, this appliance complies with all enforceable standards and regulations.

  • Do not use the appliance if: the cord is damaged. In order to avoid all danger, the cord winding system and the cord itself of your vacuum cleaner must necessarily be replaced by a Rowenta Authorized Service Centre only.
  • Never leave the appliance operating without supervision.
  • Do not hold the tool attachment or tube close to your eyes and ears.
  • Do not use your vacuum cleaner on the wet surfaces, water or liquids of whatever kind, hot substances, extremely fine substances (plaster, cement, ash...), large sharp objects (broken glass), products that are harmful (solvents, paint strippers...), corrosive (acids, cleaning fluids...), flammable and explosive (petroleum or alcohol-based).
  • Never immerse the appliance in water, do not spray water onto the appliance and do not store it outdoors.
  • Do not use the appliance if it has fallen and has visible damage or appears to be working abnormally. In this case, do not open the appliance, but send it to the closest Approved Service Centre or contact the Rowenta Consumer Service.
  • For countries subject to EU regulations (marking): This appliance can be used by children aged from 8 years and above and persons with reduced physical, sensory or mental capabilities or lack of experience and knowledge if they have been given supervision or

BEFORE USING FOR THE FIRST TIME

1. Unpacking

  • Unpack your appliance, keep your warranty card and read the instructions for use carefully before using your appliance for the first time.
  • Your vacuum cleaner is an electrical device: it must be used under normal conditions of use.
  • Check that the power voltage for your vacuum cleaner corresponds to that of your mains installation. You will find this information on the bottom of the appliance.
  • Switch off and disconnect the appliance by removing the power plug:
  • immediately after use,
  • each time you change accessory,
  • before each cleaning, maintenance and filter change operation.

2. Tips and precautions

  • Before each use, the cord should be unwound completely.
  • Make sure that it does not get stuck or go against any sharp objects.
  • If you are using an extension cord, make sure it is in perfect condition and that it suitable for the power of your vacuum cleaner.

  • Your vacuum cleaner is fitted with a device to protect against the motor overheating. In certain cases, (using the flexible hose on chairs, etc.) the device is triggered and the appliance may make an unusual noise. This is of no consequence.

  • Do not move the vacuum cleaner by pulling on the cord, the appliance must be moved by its carrying handle.
  • Do not use the cord to lift the appliance.
  • Never unplug the appliance by pulling on the cable.
  • Never operate without a vacuum bag and without a filtration system (cases).
  • Ensure that the filter (12+13 or 14a or 14b or 14c) is firmly in place.
  • Use only original Rowenta bags and filters.
  • Use only original Rowenta accessories.
  • In the event that you find it difficult to obtain accessories and filters for this vacuum cleaner, contact the Rowenta customer service.

USE

  1. Assemblage of the parts of the appliance

  2. Push the flexible hose (17) securely into the suction opening (10) until your hear a clicking sound - fig.1. To remove it, press the button of the hose connector and pull - fig.2.

  3. If your vacuum cleaner is equipped with the telescopic tube (18): push the adjustment knob forward, pull the desired tube length out then release the button to lock - fig.3a. Slot in the extension tube (26) if necessary. Otherwise, assemble the two tubes* (19), turning them slightly - fig. 3b.
  4. Fit the desired accessory to the end of the tube:

Choose the right accessory

  • For rugs and carpets: use the 2-position nozzle (21) on carpet position (retracted brush) or the turbobrush* (fibres and animal hairs).

Instructions regarding the energy label This is a general purpose vacuum cleaner. To achieve energy efficiency and the cleaning performance category indicated on carpets, please use the dual position vacuum head (21), with the brush retracted

To achieve energy efficiency and cleaning performance category indicated on hard floors with joints and grooves, please either use:

  • the nozzle for smooth floors with grooves* (20B.a) without the removable brush (b)
  • the dual position vacuum head (21), with the brush retracted (水) / 空

The data provided relating to the energy label was established using the measuring methods defined in the Directives 665/2013 of 3 May 2013 and 666/2013 of 8 July 2013.

  • For delicate smooth floorings, such as parquet, laminated flooring or tiles, it is recommended to use either:
  • the nozzle for smooth floors with grooves*, with the brush retracted (20B a+b)
  • the dual position vacuum head (21), with the brush extended (串)
  • For corners and areas which are difficult to reach: use the slot tool attachment convertible into a brush* (23) in the flat tool attachment position.
  • For upholstery and delicate surfaces : use the

crevice tool convertible into brush (23) or the upholstery nozzle (22) or the brush integrated to the nozzle (17).

IMPORTANT Always switch off and unplug your vacuum cleaner before changing the accessories.

  1. Connecting the cord and starting the appliance

  2. Unwind the power cord completely, plug your vacuum cleaner in - fig. 4 and press the On/Off pedal (2) - fig.5.

  3. Set the suction power:

  4. using the electronic power regulator (3): turn the switch on the electronic regulator: to set the suction power: towards maximum position for floors and minimum position for furniture and fragile fabrics - fig. 6.
  5. with the mechanical power regulator on the grip: open the slider on the grip to manually reduce suction power, e.g.: on fragile surfaces... - fig. 7.

  6. Storing and transporting the appliance

After use, stop your vacuum cleaner by pressing the On/Off pedal (2) and unplug it - fig. 8. Wind the power cord by pressing the cord winder pedal (4).
- In vertical position, put the telescopic tube* (18) in its storage under the appliance (1b) - fig. 9.
- In horizontal position, put the nozzle (21) in its case at the back of the appliance (1a) - fig. 10.
- Carry your vacuum cleaner easily using its carry handle (7).

CLEANING AND MAINTENANCE

Important: Always stop and unplug your vacuum cleaner before maintenance or cleaning.

1. Changing bag

  • The bag full light (5) indicates that the bag is full or saturated. If you notice that your appliance is becoming less efficient, set it to maximum power and hold the nozzle up above the ground. If the light stays red, replace the bag.
  • Remove the flexible hose (17) from the suction opening (10) - fig. 2.
  • Open the lid (9) of your vacuum cleaner - fig. 11.

a) If your vacuum cleaner is equipped with a paper bag* (16a):

  • Remove the bag support frame (15) - fig. 12; unclip the bag (16.a) by pressing the lever - fig. 13, then dispose of the bag in a dustbin - fig. 14.
  • Fit a new bag, positioning it by means of the tab and reclip it back on to the bag support frame - fig. 16. Put the bag support frame into position in the runners - fig. 17. and place the bag inside the compartment
    Make sure that the bag is in the correct position before you close the lid (9).

b) If your vacuum cleaner is fitted with a textile bag* (16b):

  • Remove the bag support frame (15) from the bag compartment (8) - fig.12. puis déclipse le sac (16b) en pressant le levier- fig.13.
  • Open the bag with the zip - fig. 15a, then empty it over a dustbin - fig. 15b.
  • Clean the bag under running water - fig. 15c.
  • Allow to dry for at least 24 hours (only put the bag back into position when it is completely dry) - fig. 15d.
  • Reclose the textile bag: make sure that the zip is fully closed - fig.15e - before repositioning the bag in the appliance.
  • Reposition the textile bag onto the bag support - fig.16.
  • Check that the textile bag* (16.b) and bag support (15) are correctly positioned before closing the lid.

2. Clean the motor protection foam filter

  • The motor protection foam filter (13) must always be installed during use.
  • Open the lid. Remove the grid (12) - fig.18 and take out the foam filter (13) - fig. 19.
  • Every 10 times you change the bag, shake it and then clean it with warm soapy water (soft detergent).
  • Rinse it and leave to dry for about 12 hours before putting it back in place.

N.B.: make sure the foam filter is completely dry before putting it back in place.

3. Change the HEPA filter cassette* (Ref. RS-RT9977) suitable for paper bags

Important: Replace the HEPA filter cassette* (Ref. RS-RT9977) every 6 months (depending on the frequency of use).

  • Open the lid (9) of your vacuum cleaner - fig. 11.
  • Remove the HEPA filter cassette* (14a) - fig. 20a
  • Throw the cassette into the dustbin.
  • Fit the new Hepa filter cassette (14a) in its compartment - fig. 20e.
    Make sure the HEPA filter cassette* (14a) is properly in position before closing the lid (9).

4. Clean the HEPA filter cassette* suitable for textile bags

Please note! This cleaning operation is reserved exclusively for the HEPA filter cassette*.

  • Open the lid (9) of your vacuum cleaner - fig. 11
  • Remove the HEPA filter cassette (14b) - fig. 20a, Tap the HEPA filter cassette over a dustbin - fig. 20b.
  • Then hold it under running water - fig. 20c and allow to dry at least 24 hours - fig. 20d.
  • Ensure that the HEPA filter cassette is completely dry before replacing it.
  • Replace the washable HEPA filter cassette* (14b) in its housing- fig. 20e.
  • Clean the washable HEPA filter cassette every 6

months.

5. Change the microfilter cassette* (ref. RS-RT9501)

N.B.: Changing the microfilter* (ref. RS-RT9501) every sixth bag change.

  • Open the lid (9) of your vacuum cleaner - fig. 11.
  • Withdraw the microfilter cassette * (14c) - fig. 20a.
  • Separate the grey foam filter (14e) from the microfilter (14d).
  • Dispose of the microfilter (14d) in a waste bin and replace it with a new Microfilter.
  • Wash the grey foam filter (14e) with warm soapy water (mild detergent). Squeeze it out and leave it to dry for at least 12 hours.

TROUBLESHOOTING

Important: As soon as your vacuum cleaner stops performing efficiently, and before making any checks, stop it by pressing on the On/Off pedal.

  • Repairs should only be performed by specialists using original spare parts. Repairs carried out by the user can be dangerous. Contact the nearest approved service centre or Rowenta customer service (see details on the last page).

1. If your vacuum cleaner does not start

The appliance is not powered: make sure the appliance is properly connected.

2. If your vacuum cleaner does not suck

  • An accessory or the hose is blocked: unblock the accessory or hose.
  • The lid is not properly closed: check the position of the bag and bag support (15) and close the lid.

3. If your vacuum cleaner is not sucking properly or is making whistling noise

  • An accessory or the hose is partially blocked: unblock the accessory or hose
  • The bag is full or saturated by fine dust: replace the paper bag or empty the textile bag.
  • The foam-filter is saturated. Clean the foam-filter.

Caution: Make sure that the grey foam filter is completely dry before putting it back in place.

  • Re-fit the grey foam filter (14e) to the microfilter (14d).
  • Re-fit the microfilter cassette *(14c) in its compartment - fig. 20e.
  • Check that the microfilter cassette * (14c) is fitted correctly before re-closing the lid (9).

6. Clean the vacuum cleaner

  • Clean the housing of the vacuum cleaner with a soft and humid rag and let dry.
  • Clean the cover with a dry rag - fig. 21.
  • Do not use abrasive or aggressive products.

  • If the bag fill indicator stays red, the filtration system is saturated.

  • The Hepa cassette: change the Hepa cassette and put it back in its housing.

  • Washable HEPA* filter cassette: clean or change the washable HEPA filter cassette and put it back in its housing.
  • The microfilter cassette*: withdraw the microfilter from the cassette, and change it. Wash the grey foam filter, squeeze it out and leave it to dry for at least 12 hours. Then re-fit the cassette in its housing.
  • The electronic power regulator is in the minimum position: increase the power using the electronic power regulator (unless you are cleaning fragile fabrics).
  • The mechanical power regulator on the grip is open: close the mechanical power regulator

4. If the bag full light stays red

  • The bag is saturated: replace the paper bag or empty the textile bag.

5. If the tool attachment is difficult to move

  • Open the regulator slot on the grip or decrease power.
  • Check that the position of the nozzle (21) is suitable for the surface being hoovered: for rugs and carpets use the nozzle with the brush retracted, for wood and hard floors, use the nozzle with the brush out.

TROUBLESHOOTING

6. If the power cord does not wind up completely

  • The cord slowed down as it was winding up: bring the cord back out and press the cord winder pedal again
