SCOTT BOOTS
I. INTRODUCTION
Congratulations on choosing this quality SCOTT product. Before use, please read the following instructions carefully and keep these instructions in safe custody. This specific product line has been developed to offer you the best comfort and fit. SCOTT Sports SA shall not accept any complaints arising from using the product for other purposes than that indicated in the present information notice, nor shall they be liable for any damages and/or losses.
II. LEGAL REQUIREMENTS
This SCOTT product meets the testing and technical requirements set out by the standard ISO 9523:2019 "Touring ski-boots for adults - Interface with touring ski-bindings - Requirements and test methods" (please refer to the labelling on the product).
III. INTENDED USE AND LIMITATIONS
This SCOTT product has been designed according to ISO 9523:2019, which means that it shall be used with an appropriate ski binding. (Touring bindings according to ISO 13992). Please don't hesitate to ask your friendly dealer in case of doubt.
WARNING: "Low Tech" type bindings may not comply with ISO standards. We recommend to ALWAYS ask an expert regarding which bindings are compatible with your SCOTT boots. Skiers are therefore warned that the use of these boots with low tech bindings is at their own risk and responsibility.
MISUSES
We recommend that the SCOTT product should not be left outside, exposed to high temperatures or direct sunlight before use. Any product modification may cause loss of properties and are therefore considered as improper use.
Never temper with any part of the boots. The product should not be modified except by a trained ski shop technician, who must ensure the modified boot still complies with the standard.
NOTE: Skiing involves difficult and inherently hazardous conditions. Any user shall understand and accept the inherent risks of injury involved. A ski-binding-boot system does not guarantee that the binding will release in every situation, which might cause serious injury. Personal responsibility is the most important element of skiing safety.

VI. INSTRUCTIONS FOR SIZING, FIT
Please bear in mind that a trial of the product before purchase is the best way to find the correct size, which should be chosen from the manufacturer's size chart. SCOTT Sports SA shall not accept any complaints arising from the use of an incorrectly fitted product. Your ski-binding-boot system must be imperatively assembled, adjusted, inspected, maintained, and repaired in accordance with the standards in force within the ski industry. The best way to ensure this, is by referring to an authorized dealer before the start of every season and every 15/20 ski days.
A. CHOOSING THE CORRECT SIZE
SCOTT boots are offered in a variety of sizes, making it easy for you to find the one that fits just right. If possible, try on different sizes and choose the size that feels most comfortable on your feet. If you cannot adjust your boot so that it fits properly, then please choose another size or another model. Your SCOTT dealer will gladly help you.
B. ENTRY/EXIT
According to the shape of your foot, you will probably have a preference between one of two ways to enter/exit the SCOTT boots:
- FOR BOOT ENTRY OR EXIT WITH THE LINER IN THE SHELL, it's easy with the cuff in "walk" mode. Once all buckles and cables are opened, these automatically hinge out of the way allowing a wide opening of the tongue for an easy entry. With the liner in the shell, and the cuff in "walk" position (mechanism up), hinge the tongue forward and step into the boot. For inner liners with laces or BOA system: before you step into the boot, be sure that the laces or BOA system is loose.
- FOR BOOT ENTRY WITH THE LINER ON YOUR FOOT, first open the laces or BOA system (if available) and put on the liner. Open all buckles, place the cuff in "walk" mode, and hinge the tongue forward. Toe first, step into the shell.
- NOTE: before closing the buckles, always check that the tongue is positioned under the front flaps of the cuff.
C. ADDITIONAL ADJUSTMENTS
All SCOTT boots buckles have a threaded micro-adjustment, as well as a larger adjustment afforded by its toothed buckle catch.
D. ADJUSTING THE BUCKLES FOR DOWNHILL SKIING
- FOOT ADJUSTMENT: Make sure that the foot is all the way back in the boot and the heel securely in the heel pocket. Using the lower shell buckles, choose a tooth that snugs the boot comfortably around the foot. Turn the buckles clockwise (tighten) or counter-clockwise (loosen) for fine adjustment.
- CUFF ADJUSTMENT: Tighten the buckles and/or the strap/buckle system. Flex your leg back and forth a few times to see if further adjustments are needed.
- NOTE: Some skiers prefer to first snug down the strap/buckle system, then adjust the buckles. By tightening the strap/buckle system first, it results easier to close the buckles. Please ensure your boots' buckles are sufficiently closed before skiing.
E. ADJUSTING THE BUCKLES FOR WALKING
Open completely the cuff buckle(s) and/or the strap/buckle sys - tem using the lever locking system. Move the levers forward until you hear a locking "click".
F. ADJUSTING WALKING/SKIING MODES
SCOTT boots have a locked forward lean position for downhill skiing and a hinge freely position for walking and climbing.
- FOR WALKING, pull up the mechanism and open the cuff buckles and loosen the power strap as described above.
- FOR DOWNHILL SKIING, move the mechanism to the ski position (mechanism down), close the buckles and the strap/buckle system as described above.
- NOTE: Please ensure the boots are changed from "walk" mode to "ski" mode before skiing.
G. CHANGING SOLES (SCOTT FREEGUIDE CARBON | SB1901 only) To change your sole set, SCOTT recommends you contact a trained ski shop technician. A #3 pozidriv screwdriver will be needed. First remove the sole's fixing bolts, then remove the sole by lifting the toe first. Once your soles are off the shells, insert the new sole set, starting from back (hill). Holding firmly the front
part (toes), fix first the anterior bolts, then the lateral bolts and snug it down. When both boots are ready, verify that all bolts are correctly tight.
VII. INSTRUCTIONS
Before any use, ensure that the boots are checked for impurities or ice build-up. If necessary, clean your boots, particularly the soles, before stepping into the binding.
A. CLEANING, CARE & STORAGE
Clean your boots with a soft cloth or sponge, warm water, and mild soap. Boots are made of material that can be damaged by many traditional cleaning agents. Solvents or cleaning agents with a petroleum base are particularly dangerous. Damage is often not noticeable. SCOTT Sports is not liable for any damages caused by improper cleaning.
- LINING: You can easily remove the inner lining and wash it by hand using a mild soap. Never machine-wash the lining pieces at high temperatures.
When drying shells and liners, keep them away from direct sources of heat, i.e. radiators, open fires, and similar. Let your product air dry after each use and then store it in a cool dry place.
Before storing the product for a long period of time, be sure that the liners and shells are completely dry, put the liners in the shells, and close the buckles loosely.
B. CHECKING OF WEAR AND TEAR
It is recommended to regularly inspect your gear with the support of a trained ski shop technician or our friendly dealer. The protection it offers could be reduced due to mechanical wear or improper use. Before use, please check the product for any damage. Dispose of the product if you notice any damage.
C. DISPOSAL
Dispose of the products in the domestic waste. Do not tamper or incinerate the product. This may lead to potential hazards.
VIII. WARNING
No SCOTT equipment can offer full protection against injury. Any contamination, alteration to the product or misuse could dangerously reduce the performance of the equipment.
