How to install ink cartridges?
Open the front cover, lower the locking lever, remove the protective tape from the cartridge, insert it into the cartridge holder until it clicks, then raise the lever. Repeat for the black cartridge. For more details, refer to the Installing FINE Cartridges section of the quick start guide.
What if the screen displays an error code?
Check the meaning of the code: for example, E > 0 > 4 indicates a cartridge installation problem. Follow the instructions in the If one of the following screens appears section of the guide. For other codes, consult the online manual.
How to connect the printer to Wi-Fi?
Go to the Canon website (URL in the guide), enter the model name PIXMA E3640, then follow the on-screen instructions to install the drivers and connect your printer to your Wi-Fi network. You can also use the installation CD-ROM.
How to load paper in the tray?
Open the paper support, slide the paper guide to the left, load the paper (print side up) against the right edge, then align the guide. Press the Select Paper button to choose the size, then confirm with OK. Extend the output tray.
How to align the print head?
In the printer software, go to the Maintenance tab and select Print Head Alignment. Follow the on-screen instructions. This corrects misaligned lines and uneven colors.

5. Installing the FINE Cartridges

1 Open the cover.

Caution

Do not touch the FINE cartridge holder until it stops moving.

2 Lower the ink cartridge lock lever on the left-hand side.

3 Remove the Color FINE cartridge from the package and remove the protective tape.

  • Do not touch the ink on the protective tape. It could stain your hands or surrounding objects.
  • Do not touch the areas shown in the figure. Otherwise, the printer may not print correctly.

4 Insert the Color FINE cartridge in the FINE cartridge holder.

Do not bump the FINE cartridge. Doing so may cause a malfunction.

5 Raise the ink cartridge lock lever.

If you are using multiple computers/smartphones, perform these steps on each device. Also perform these steps to add a new computer/smartphone or replace your current one.

1 Access the Canon website directly. No need to search.

Using the Setup CD-ROM

  1. Double click EasySetup.exe on the screen that appears.
  2. If the printer selection screen appears, select E3640. If the installation screen appears, click Next.
  3. Follow the on-screen instructions.

If nothing appears, start Explorer and then run EasySetup.exe in the CD-ROM.

Loading Paper

1 Open the paper support.

2 Slide the paper guide to the left.

3 Load several sheets of paper against the right edge with the print side facing up and align the paper guide to the width of the paper.

4 Press the Paper Select button, select a paper size, and then press the OK button.
