To get the best out of your new toaster, please read through these instructions carefully before using it for the first time. Take particular note of the safety precautions. We also recommend that you keep the instructions for future reference, so that you can refer to them at a later date.

GENERAL SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS

- This appliance may only be used by children aged from 8 years and above and persons with reduced physical, sensory or mental capabilities or lack of experience and knowledge if they are supervised or have been given instructions concerning use

of the appliance in a safe way and understand the hazards involved. Children must not play with the appliance. Cleaning and user maintenance must not be performed by children without supervision.

- Never leave unattended when in use. Keep an eye on any children in the vicinity of the appliance when it is in use. The appliance is not a toy.

UK

• Incorrect use of this appliance may cause personal injury or damage the appliance.
• Use for the intended purpose only. The manufacturer is not responsible for any injury or damage resulting from incorrect use or handling (see also Warranty Terms).
• For domestic use only. Not for outdoor or commercial use.
• Remove all packaging and transport materials

from the inside and outside of the appliance.

• Check that the appliance has no visible damage and that no parts are missing.
• Do not use with any cords other than that supplied.
• Check that it is not possible to pull or trip over the cord or any extension cord.
• The appliance must not be used together with a timer switch or a separate remote control system.

UK

• Turn off the appliance and remove the plug from the socket when cleaning or when not in use.
• Avoid pulling the cord when removing the plug from the socket. Instead, hold the plug.
• Keep the cord and appliance away from heat sources, hot objects and naked flames.
• Ensure that the cord is fully extended.

- The cord must not be twisted or wound around the appliance.

- Check regularly that neither the cord nor plug is damaged and do not use the appliance if there is any damage, or if it has been dropped on the floor, dropped in water or damaged in any other way.

- If the appliance, cord or plug have been damaged, have the appliance inspected and if necessary repaired by an authorised repairer.

UK

• Connect to 230 V, 50 Hz only. The warranty is not valid if the appliance is connected to incorrect voltage.
• Never try to repair the appliance yourself. Please contact the store where you bought the appliance for repairs under warranty.
• Unauthorised repairs or modifications will invalidate the warranty.

SPECIAL SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS

• Always place the appliance on a dry, level, firm and heat-resistant surface well away from any edges.
• Always place the appliance at a safe distance from flammable objects such as curtains, tablecloths or similar.
- The appliance must not be placed or stored near other sources of heat.
- Do not cover.

UK

• Never insert your fingers or any metal objects into the openings of the appliance as this could cause electrical shocks.
• The metal parts get very hot during use. Do not touch them due to the danger of burns.

• Please note that the appliance will remain hot for a while after you switch it off. Always allow it to cool completely before you put it away or clean it.

• The appliance should be regularly emptied of crumbs, as these could cause a fire. The appliance must not be used without a crumb tray.

• Foods wrapped in foil or similar and very thick slices of bread must not be heated in the appliance, as this could represent a fire hazard.

UK

• Do not use the appliance to toast or heat bread with runny fillings, sugar or icing since it may get stuck in the appliance and burn.
• Do not use the appliance to toast bread with a topping, butter, etc. and never use it to toast anything other than bread.

PRIOR TO FIRST USE

• Wipe the exterior surfaces of the appliance with a damp cloth and let the appliance dry.
• Allow the appliance to run through an entire toasting cycle without bread. The first few times the appliance is used, there may be a small amount of smoke and a slight smell. This is completely normal, and the smoke/smell will soon disappear. Please ensure sufficient ventilation.

USE

1. Remove any packaging from the bread before toasting.
2. Place the bread slices in the toaster openings. Never place bread directly on top of the appliance. Instead place the bun warmer rack (1) onto the top of the product if you want to toast buns or similar bread that cannot be inserted into the toaster.
3. Turn the setting dial (6) to the required toasting level from 1 to 7. The higher the setting, the longer the time and the darker the toast will be.
4. Push the lever (2) down to lower the bread into the appliance. The indicator light in the cancel button (5) lights up and toasting begins.

Note! If the appliance is not plugged into the mains, the toasting lever cannot be secured in the toasting position.

UK

1. Press the reheat button (4) or the defrost button (3) to either reheat or defrost the bread. The associated indicator light comes on.
2. Press the cancel button (5) if you want to interrupt toasting.
3. The appliance switches off automatically when the bread has finished toasting and the bread pops up.

IMPORTANT!

• If the bread gets stuck in the toaster slots, raise and lower the lever a couple of times to loosen the bread. If the bread remains stuck, unplug the toaster and leave it to cool down. Then turn the appliance upside down and shake it carefully to remove the bread. Never use a metal object to loosen the bread.
• Remember to turn the appliance off at the socket and remove the plug when you are finished using it.

CLEANING

When cleaning the appliance, you should pay attention to the following:

• Remove the plug from the mains socket, and allow the appliance to cool down completely before cleaning it.
• Never submerge the appliance in water and make sure no water enters the appliance.
• Clean the appliance by wiping it with a damp cloth. A little washing-up liquid can be added if the appliance is heavily soiled.
• Do not use scouring pads, steel wool or any form of strong solvents or abrasive cleaning agents to clean the appliance, as these can damage the external surfaces of the appliance.

• Empty the appliance of crumbs regularly.

Remove the crumb tray (7), dust off any crumbs and, if required, wash it up with ordinary detergent and water. Remember to replace the crumb tray.

Turn the appliance upside down and shake it carefully until all breadcrumbs have been removed.

- IMPORTANT! Allow to dry completely after cleaning. Do not use the appliance if it is damp.

WARRANTY TERMS

The warranty does not apply:

• if the above instructions have not been followed
• if the appliance has been interfered with
• if the appliance has been mishandled, subjected to rough treatment, or has suffered any other form of damage
• if the appliance is faulty due to faults in the electricity supply.
