3. Functions

With the HDD docking station you can read or write up to two hard disks simultaneously on one USB port. Thanks to the „clone function“, you can easily clone data from one hard disk to another.

4. Start-up

Remove the device from its packaging and remove all packaging material. When the unit is put into operation for the first time, check again that the product or components are undamaged and that they function properly. Place the unit on a flat surface. Now connect one or two hard disk drives to the designated connectors. Connect the supplied USB connection cable to the back of the docking station and to your computer or notebook. Connect the 12V power supply to the docking station and then to a properly connected power outlet. Then press the "Power" button on the back of the device. The docking station is then ready for operation.

5. Clone function

Note: The hard disks can get hot during the clone process.

Make sure that the destination hard disk has at least the same size as the hard disk to be cloned. The destination disk will be completely deleted at the start of the operation. Please back-up your important data beforehand, if necessary.

Note: Please make sure that the USB 3.0 cable is not connected to your computer or laptop during the period of cloning.

The hard drive (source) to-be cloned should be plugged into one bay "HDD 1" and the destination disk into "HDD 2". Turn on the device with the "power" button on the front.

Press twice in rapid succession the "clone" button on the front of the device until the clone processing indicator starts flashing (from left to right: 0-100%). The cloning will start and the LED display shows the cloning process. The cloning process is completed if the progress indicator reaches 100% and stops flashing. After a successful "clone" operation, you can connect the docking station to your computer again. In few cases just one hard disk might be recognised because it both have the same names and data.

You can assign drive letters manually, by searching for "Computer Management", opening it and then navigating to "Disk Management". Perform a right-click on the desired drive and select "Change Drive Letter and Paths...".

6. Safety instructions and liability disclaimer

Never try to open the device to carry out repairs or conversions. Avoid contact with mains voltages. Do not short-circuit the product. The device is not certified for use in the open air; only use it in dry conditions. Protect it from high humidity, water and snow. Keep it away from high temperatures. Do not subject the device to sudden changes in temperature or heavy vibration as this might damage electronic components.

Examine the device for damage before using it. The unit should not be used if it has received an impact or has been damaged in any other way. Please observe national regulations and restrictions. Do not use the device for purposes other than those described in the instructions. This product is not a toy. Keep it out of the reach of children or mentally impaired persons. Any repair or alteration to the device not carried out by the original supplier, will invalidate the warranty or guarantee. The product may only be used by persons who have read and understood these instructions. The device specifications may change without any separate prior notice to this effect.

7. Disposal instructions

Electrical and electronic devices may only be disposed of in accordance with the European WEEE Directive and not with household rubbish. Components must be disposed of or recycled separately as dangerous, toxic elements can inflict sustained damage on the environment if they are disposed of incorrectly. As a consumer, you are bound by the Electrical and Electronic Devices Act (ElektroG) to return electrical and electronic goods free of charge at the end of their useful life to the manufacturer, the place of purchase or to specially set up, public collection points. The details in each case are governed by national law. The symbol on the product, the operating instructions and/or the packaging refers to these regulations. By separating materials in this way, recycling and disposing of old devices, you are making an important contribution towards protecting our environment.
