2. Function
You can check whether your network cable or ISDN cable is working using the cable tester. The cable tester allows you to test the pin assignment and the cable shielding easily.
3. Initial use
When the device is put into operation for the first time, check the intactness of the product or components and their function again. Take the device out of the package and remove all the packaging material. Open the battery compartment located at the rear of the main unit. Connect a 9V battery to the battery clip and insert it into the battery compartment. Then close the cover of the battery compartment.
The following figure shows the cables that can be tested:

RJ45 RJ 12/RJ11Connect the cable to the main unit and to the remote unit and then switch on the device. You can select between two different speeds for the cable test. To test a cable test in normal speed, put the selector switch to "ON" position. If you put the selector switch to "S" (slow), the cable test is carried out at reduced speed. The "OFF" position switches the device off.
The measurement result is displayed simultaneously on the main unit as well as the remote unit during the cable test. During the measurement process, the network cable tester continuously tests the wires 1-8, and "G" additionally in case of shielded cables, and indicates whether the respective wires have contact between the connected wire ends and whether the signal is being conducted further.
In case of a fully allocated cable with standard pin assignment and shielded connectors, all the LED pairs should glow one after the other. If any wire is faulty, then the corresponding LED pair does not glow.
