Instruction manual for Oehlbach XXL Powersocket 908 „State of the art“ multi-socket outlet with power switch
IMPORTANT SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS:
This manual contains important information concerning operation and safety. It is imperative you observe all of the information. Keep the manual in a safe place for future reference.
According to DIN VDE 0620 portable multiple socket outlets should not be
- connected in a row,
· operated under a cover, - used as a substitute for fixed installations
The Powersocket should only be connected to a mains socket which has the required connection values.
The Powersocket should not be used if there is any liquid in or on the device.
The Powersocket should not be used in areas where there is a very high degree of humidity.
Do not touch or connect the mains cable with damp hands.
Keep the Powersocket and mains cable away from heating appliances.
The device should no longer be operated if there is visible damage to the Powersocket or mains cable.
A damaged Powersocket should not be repaired, but replaced.
No heavy objects should be placed on the Powersocket or the mains cable.
The mains plug should be easily accessible at all times.
If the devices that are connected to the Powersocket are not going to be used for a pronged period (e.g. while on holiday), the Powersocket should be disconnected from the mains by removing the plug.
Do not use any cleaning agents or chemical solvents when cleaning, as these could damage the surface.
Repairs must always be conducted by qualified specialists, as you might otherwise be exposed to dangerous high voltage levels or other hazards.
During a thunderstorm we always recommend disconnecting the Powersocket from the mains.
Cleaning
Before cleaning the Powersocket disconnect the mains plug. The Powersocket should only be dusted. Do not use any liquid cleaners or sprays.
Initial operation
Connect the supplied power cord to the Oehlbach XXL Powersocket 908 and insert the mains plug into a wall outlet. The multi-socket outlet can now be activated via the power switch. The XXL Powersocket 908 is provided with four unfiltered „analogue“ and four filtered digital sockets. The unfiltered sockets are designated with „Analog Sockets“ and the filtered sockets are designated with „Digital Sockets“.
Connecting digital devices
Digital devices can react extremely sensitively to disturbing pulses and sometimes even produce high-frequency interfering signals. Therefore, make sure you connect all digital devices (e.g. DVD/BluRay player, HDD recorder, PC, etc.) to the digital sockets on the power strip. These sockets are black. Devices connected to these sockets are protected by an efficient filter against all disturbing pulses that arrive via the mains supply. This switching circuit also eliminates interference caused by the connected devices themselves.
Connecting analogue devices
Connect all analogue devices such as a tuner, record player, tape deck or amplifier to the grey „analogue“ sockets. The XXL Powersocket 908 uses these sockets to provide unfiltered current for all analogue devices and sufficient reserves for a permanent, stable power supply at all times, even in the event of high power requirements.
Polarity control
An in-phase connection of all devices will guarantee the best possible, unadulterated sound. This is the only way to ensure that potential equalisation currents, which have a negative impact on the sound, are effectively avoided. The POLARITY light indicates that the red sockets are connected in-phase (L). If the polarity light does not illuminate, switch off the power supply, remove the mains plug from the wall socket, turn it around around 180° and plug it in again. The polarity LED now illuminates and the phase designation on the individual sockets correctly designates the phase. To proof the correct in-phase connection of your HIFI-device, you should use the Oehlbach Phaser (Art.No. 17017). All end devices can now be connected in-phase accordingly.
Surge protection
If the surge protection function of the XXL Powersocket 908 is triggered as a result of extreme voltage peaks, the eight sockets (and all of the connected devices) are disconnected from the mains. The Powersocket can be used again by pressing the RESET button.
Correct operation of the active surge protection function is indicated by the PROTECTED light.
