Frequently Asked Questions - IBEAM IB-200 Rockford Fosgate

What is the recommended amplifier power?
Any 4 ohm stable amplifier providing at least 100 watts RMS is suitable. For optimal experience, use an amplifier delivering 150 to 250 watts at 4 ohms.
How to install the IBeam transducer in a vehicle?
Mount the transducer under the bottom of the seat frame or under the center console. Use at least six mounting screws, pre-drill pilot holes, and ensure surrounding components are securely fastened to avoid rattling.
How to install the transducer in a home theater?
Turn the chair over, find a solid wooden spot under the seat (ideally center back), drill pilot holes, and secure the transducer with at least six screws. Ensure the chair's movement is not hindered and there is airflow clearance.
What crossover frequency should I use for the amplifier?
Set the amplifier to low-pass (LP) mode with a crossover frequency between 100 and 300 Hz. If the sound is too sharp, lower the crossover frequency, for example to 150 Hz.
The transducer produces no sound, what should I do?
Check that the amplifier is on, speaker wires are properly connected and polarity is observed. Also check the amplifier input signal. If the problem persists, there may be internal damage; contact after-sales service.
Why are the vibrations weak?
Increase the amplifier gain. Some older recordings lack deep bass. Ensure the amplifier delivers enough power (at least 100 watts RMS).
How to resolve unwanted vibrations?
Verify that the transducer is securely mounted and all surrounding components are fastened. If the chair is not a home theater model, it may generate noise. Locate the noise source and dampen vibrations.
What to do if the device stops working after heavy use?
Allow the PTC fuse to automatically reset (3 to 5 minutes). Lower the amplifier settings to avoid overload. If the problem persists, contact after-sales service.
What is the warranty period?
The IBeam transducer is warranted for 1 year for the original purchaser from an authorized Rockford Fosgate distributor in the USA. The warranty covers manufacturing defects but not damage from abuse, water, or shipping.
Can I use the transducer with an audio system without a subwoofer output?
Yes, but you must use an external low-pass filter set between 100 and 300 Hz to isolate the bass frequencies. Connect the filter to the amplifier's speaker output.

HOME THEATER INSTALLATION

In many situations the IBeam tactile transducer can be mounted directly using the 10 built-in mounting holes.

Home Theater Seat Mounting

The contemporary Home Theater Seat will generally accept direct attachment of the IBeam unit. We suggest you contact your seat manufacturer to obtain their recommendations for vibro-tactile product mounting.

I. Carefully turn the seat upside down. Support it without the possibility of damage during the installation process. Always use caution when moving Home Theater Seating as these items can be heavy and somewhat awkward to maneuver. Get help if necessary.
2. Find a location on the seat bottom that allows solid attachment to wood structural members. The ideal spot is toward the center and rear of the seat bottom. If seat bottom mounting is not used choose a location on the seat frame near the rear and center. Check for proper clearance from motors and seat adjustment mechanisms. Allow for air space between your IBeam and floor when mounted. Never use the IBeam to support the seat.
3. Drill pilot holes and secure your IBeam in the desired location using the supplied screws. Check for free and complete seat motion. Find another location if the seat motion is impeded or if seat becomes difficult to move.

  1. Secure your IBeam with screws in all 10 mounting holes. Remember to drill pilot holes for all screws.

4. Secure your IBeam with screws in all 10 mounting holes. Remember to drill pilot holes for all screws. Great for Halloween gags or your favorite couch/chair. Mounting Holes Rockford Fosgate TBEAM TACTILE TRANEOUSER Structural support (frame)
