Frequently Asked Questions - Commander 7x50c Steiner

How to adjust the interpupillary distance on the Steiner Commander 7x50c binoculars?
Articulate the central hinge until you see a round image. The distance between your eyes is thus adapted.
How to adjust the eyecups for eyeglass wearers?
The ErgoFlex eyecups offer three positions: ergonomic, cylindrical, and for eyeglass wearers. Turn them to the desired position.
What to do if the image is not sharp with Sports-Auto-Focus?
First set the diopter adjustments to 0. Cover one objective lens, then turn the diopter adjustment on the corresponding eyepiece until you get a sharp image for each eye. The focus is then automatic from 20 m to infinity.
How to use the integrated compass at night?
Press the button on the side of the compass housing to turn on the illumination. The illumination uses a battery (replaceable).
How to change the compass battery?
Open the battery compartment, replace the old battery respecting polarity (+/-), then close tightly to ensure waterproofness.
How to clean the binocular lenses?
First remove dust with a brush. Then wipe with a soft cloth, possibly damp. For salt water, rinse with fresh water then wipe with a dry cloth.
How to maintain the rubber armor?
Rinse the binoculars with running water and liquid soap. For hairline cracks, apply an aerosol dashboard cleaner or a plastic care product.
Where is the serial number of the Steiner Commander 7x50c binoculars?
The serial number is either on the front end of the hinge between the objectives, or under the hinge, or in the objective lens (depending on the model).
What is the most important safety instruction?
Never look directly at the sun with the binoculars. This can severely damage your eyesight, even cause total blindness.
Does the warranty cover wear parts like the strap or eyecups?
No, the warranty does not cover wear parts such as rubber armor, straps, eyecups, or protective caps.

Cleaning/Maintenance and Important Product Information:

Cleaning your binoculars:

Remove dust and loose dirt on the lenses with a brush. Then use only a soft, possibly damp cloth to wipe the lenses. Failure to use a soft cloth can scratch the lenses. Wipe off salt water with a damp cloth then use a dry cloth to wipe the lenses.

Care for the rubber armouring:

Binoculars resistant to water pressure may be rinsed under running water using liquid soap. To close smaller hairline cracks that may be caused by UV radiation the rubber armouring should be treated with Cockpit Spray or Nigrin Plastic Care.

Product Serial Number:

All STEINERs have their own serial number. This allows you to ascertain when your binoculars were produced and it also provides a way (following the registration on the STEINER website) to identify them in case of loss or theft. You can find the serial number of your binoculars (depending on the model) at the front end of the binoculars' axis, between the objectives 18, on the underside of the binoculars' axis 19 or in the objective le ns 20.

Important Safety Note:

Never look directly into the sun with your binocula rs 21! This may cause serious damage to your eyes and possibly lead to blindness!

Please understand that we cannot accept warranty claims for wear parts such as rubber armouring, carrying straps, eyecups or protective caps. Should you encounter any problems while using your binoculars please contact your specialised dealer or our
