What type of coffee to use with the Tefal CM1608 coffee maker?

Use only ground coffee. Pods or capsules are not compatible. Do not exceed the MAX level indicated in the permanent filter.

How many cups can the Tefal CM1608 coffee maker brew?

The coffee maker can brew up to 1 to 2 cups. The MIN and MAX water levels in the tank correspond to 1 and 2 cups respectively.

How to descale the Tefal CM1608 coffee maker?

Descale every 40 uses with a descaling product or diluted white vinegar. Pour into the tank, run one cup, let sit for 1 hour, then complete the cycle. Rinse with 2 to 3 cycles of fresh water.

Why is there coffee grounds in my cup?

This is normal with a permanent filter. Make sure the ground coffee does not exceed the MAX level and that the filter is properly seated. A small amount of sediment is inevitable.

Can I wash the coffee maker parts in the dishwasher?

Yes, the permanent filter and ceramic cups are dishwasher safe. The filter holder and the appliance body should be cleaned with a damp cloth.

What to do if my coffee maker does not turn on?

Check that the plug is properly inserted and that the outlet works. If the cord is damaged, do not use and contact an authorized service center.

The appliance turns off automatically. Is this normal?

Yes, the coffee maker turns off automatically at the end of the brewing cycle, when the tank is empty. You can also turn it off manually using the switch.

How to get a stronger coffee?

Use a finer ground coffee or increase the amount of coffee in the filter (without exceeding the MAX level). You can also reduce the amount of water.

What to do if water overflows from the filter?

Make sure you do not exceed the MAX water level in the tank and do not use too much coffee. Use appropriate ground coffee and wait for cooling between cycles.

Are the included cups mandatory?

No, you can use other cups suitable for the double spout. The provided cups are ceramic and recommended for optimal results.

USING THE MACHINE FOR THE FIRST TIME

(Follow figures 1 to 5)

1. Before making coffee you should use the coffee maker once with water only (without coffee).
2. Insert the plug into the socket.
3. Lift up the cover, fill the tank

with cold water but do not exceed the MAX level mark inside the tank.

1. Close the cover.
2. Position the cups below the 2 points of coffee spouts.
3. Start the brewing process by pressing the ON button.

PREPARING THE COFFEE

(Follow figures 1 to 5)

1. Lift up the cover and fill the tank with water: MIN in the water tank is to prepare 1 cup of coffee. MAX is to prepare 2 cups of coffee.
2. Ensure the water level does not exceed the MAX level mark inside the tank.
3. Remove the filter holder and the permanent filter.
4. Put ground coffee into the permanent filter: the level MIN is to prepare 1 cup of coffee. The level MAX is to prepare 2 cups of coffee.

WARNING: Use only ground coffee (pods are not compatible) and never exceed the MAX level in the permanent filter.

1. For 1 cup of coffee: Ensure that the cup is placed properly in its position: below the 2 points of coffee spout.

For 2 cups of coffee: Ensure that the 2 cups are place properly in

their position: 1 cup below each point of coffee spout.

1. Press the ON button and the pilot lamp illuminates, to indicate the unit is on.
2. Switch off the appliance if you want to stop the brewing.

Your appliance will turn off automatically after the end of the coffee cycle (when there is no more water in the water tank).

Wait for 1 minute after the button is off (water must flow from the end of the filter holder) then take off your cup(s).

INGENIOUSNESS: For breakfast, you can position a bowl instead of 2 cups!

IMPORTANT

• Use on a flat surface so that the distribution of coffee is done properly in 2 cups.
• There is no drip stop: before enjoying your coffee, wait a few minutes after the end of the cycle so that the water in the filter holder is well past.
• It is normal to have a small difference in the volume of coffee in the 2 cups.

• It is normal to have some coffee deposits. This is due to the use of a permanent filter.

• Use only ground coffee (pods are not compatible) and never exceed the MAX level in the permanent filter in order to avoid overflow.

• The filter holder and permanent filter should be rinsed in water and thoroughly dried after each use.
• The water level MIN and MAX is indicated inside the tank. Always respect those markings.
• It is normal to have noise steam and steam release.
• It is important to wait for the complete cooling unit between two uses.
• It is important to wait for the complete cooling unit before cleaning the appliance, before moving the appliance or before remove the filter holder: risk of burns.

CLEANING AND MAINTENANCE

• Disconnect the appliance and let the coffee maker cool down.
• To dispose of the used coffee grounds, remove the filter holder and the permanent filter.
• Clean with a cloth or damp cloth.
• Do not clean the appliance when it is still hot.
• Never immerse the appliance,

the power cord of plug in water or any other liquid.

DISHWASHER

- The permanent filter and the cups are dishwasher safe.

DESCALING

To make sure that your coffee maker goes on producing great coffee you will need, from time to time, to descale it. The frequency will depend on how hard the water is in your area, and how often you use the coffee maker.

- Descale your coffee maker every 40 uses.

You can use:

-A sachet or descaling agent diluted in 2 cups of water; -Or 2 cups of commercially available white vinegar.

In all cases, you can use the ceramic cups supplied with Duo Cups as a measure.

• Pour into the water tank and turn on the appliance (without coffee).
• Allow the equivalent of 1 cup flow, then stop your coffee maker with the ON/OFF button.
• Empty the water flowed into the cup.
• Allow to act for one hour.
• Restart the coffee maker and flush the equivalent of the

second cup until the machine turns off automatically.

• Run the coffee maker two or three times with the equivalent of 2 cups of water to rinse.
• Allow the appliance to cool down completely between uses.

The guarantee excludes coffee makers that are not working or are not working properly due to lack of descaling.
