Frequently Asked Questions - 683 Vornado

How to assemble the Vornado 683 fan?
Insert the power cord into the top of the base. Place the fan head onto the pole until the release shield snaps into place. Turn the locking collar counterclockwise to raise it. Attach the feet by inserting them into the grooves, then tighten the collar clockwise.
How to adjust the fan height?
Loosen the adjustment collar by turning it counterclockwise. Adjust the pole height, then retighten the collar clockwise until snug. Make sure the collar is locked before releasing.
How to clean the fan grill?
First unplug the unit. Remove the three screws at the 10, 2, and 6 o'clock positions (indicated by an arrow). Release the clips at the 2, 3, 7, and 10 o'clock positions. Wash the grill with mild soapy water, but do not put it in the dishwasher (heat could warp plastic). Reassemble in reverse order.
How to clean the fan blade?
Unplug the unit. Remove the nut from the shaft by turning clockwise. Take off the blade and wipe it with a damp cloth. For greasy kitchens, use mild soap. Do not use solvents. Reassemble by aligning the blade on the shaft and tightening the nut counterclockwise.
What to do if the fan does not turn on?
Check that the unit is plugged in and the outlet works. Make sure you have selected a speed. If the GFCI (Ground Fault Circuit Interrupter) is tripped, reset it or plug the fan into a non-GFCI outlet. If the problem persists, contact customer service.
Why is the airflow weak?
Make sure the speed is set to a higher level. Check that nothing is blocking the grill or air inlets. Direct the circulator towards the user. If the problem persists, the unit may be damaged; stop using it and contact a professional.
The GFCI trips when I use the fan. What should I do?
Some Vornado fans may cause a GFCI (Ground Fault Circuit Interrupter) to trip. Try plugging the fan into a non-GFCI protected outlet. If the problem persists, have the outlet checked by an electrician.
Can I use the fan outdoors?
No, this fan is designed for indoor use only. Do not expose it to weather or use it in a window. It should not be placed in a bathtub, shower, or near water.
How to obtain spare parts?
Contact the dealer or Vornado authorized importer. Use only genuine parts to avoid voiding the warranty. For repairs, contact an authorized service center.
What is the required power supply voltage?
The fan operates on a 220-240V, 50Hz, AC electrical outlet. Do not use with an external voltage converter; this will void the warranty.
