Frequently Asked Questions - Acticook P43015 TEFAL

How to close the Acticook correctly?
Make sure the position selector is aligned with the closing pictogram, then place the lid vertically on the pot. Turn the selector to the desired cooking position. If closing is difficult, check that the gasket is properly seated and apply slight pressure to the center of the lid.
What to do if the pressure indicator does not rise?
Check that the position selector is on a cooking position (1 or 2). If the problem persists, have the appliance checked by an authorized Tefal service center.
How to use the timer?
Turn on the timer with the + or - buttons. Set the cooking time. Place the pressure cooker on the heat source at full power. As soon as pressure is reached, the timer sounds and the countdown begins: then reduce the heat source to one third. At the end of cooking, the timer sounds again.
How much water to use for steaming?
Use the eco-measure: 1 measure = 250 ml. For steaming of 1 to 9 min, pour 2 measures (50 cl). For 10 to 15 min, pour 3 measures (75 cl). Do not exceed 15 min with 3 measures.
Can I put the pot in the dishwasher?
Yes, the pot and steaming basket are dishwasher safe. The lid is also, but after removing the timer, gasket and control module. The module and timer must never go in the dishwasher.
How to clean the operating valve?
Remove the control module from the lid. Set the selector to position 1 and press the valve to check its mobility. Clean it under a stream of water. Make sure the steam vent is not blocked.
What to do if steam leaks around the lid?
Check that the gasket is not pinched, that it is properly positioned and in good condition. Check the lid closure and cleanliness of the pot rim. If the gasket is damaged, replace it.
How often to change the gasket?
It is recommended to change the gasket every year, or immediately if it has a cut. Always use an original Tefal gasket corresponding to your model.
How to unlock the folding handles?
Press fully the unlocking buttons located under the handles to fold or raise them. Never force without pressing the buttons.

Cleaning and maintenance

EN

To ensure the correct operation of your pressure cooker, follow these cleaning and maintenance recommendations after each use:

  • Wash ActiCook® after each use using water with a little washing-up liquid added. Follow the same procedure for the basket.
  • Never use bleach or products containing chlorine, as these will alter the quality of the steel.
  • Do not overheat your pan when empty.

Never leave food in ActiCook®.

The browning and marks which may appear following long use do not affect the operation of the pressure cooker.

To clean the inside of the pan

  • Wash with a scouring pad and washing-up liquid.
  • If the interior of the steel pan has an iridescent sheen, clean it using white vinegar.
  • You can wash the pan in the dishwasher.

You can wash the pan and the basket in the dishwasher.

To clean the outside of the pan

- Wash using a sponge and washing-up liquid.

To clean the lid

  • Remove the timer.
  • After each use, remove the module and wash it using a sponge and washing-up liquid.
  • You can put the cover in the dishwasher after having removed the timer, the control module and the seal.
  • If you inadvertently remove the base of the automatic air evacuation system, replace it by pushing and turning simultaneously.

Never place the timer in water, or in the dishwasher.

  • Wash the module using washing-up liquid and then rinse under running water.
  • Check visually and in plain daylight that the steam release outlet (A) is not blocked, see Fig.14. If it is, run it under water.
  • Check that the operating valve (P) located inside the lid can be moved, by setting the position selector to 1 or and depressing it with your finger: - Fig. 15.
  • You can clean this valve under running water.
  • Also check the correct operation of the safety valve (Q) by pressing hard, using a cotton bud (for example), on the central part of the duct, which should move: see Fig. 16. You can clean this valve under running water.
  • Check that the module seal is correctly positioned (O). If this seal is missing or damaged, leaks may appear below the module when you use your pressure cooker. The shape of the seal allows its easy removal and refitting. If necessary, you can obtain this part from TEFAL Approved Service Centres.
  • Check the cleanliness of the pressure indicator (D); you can clean it under running water.

Never open the control module.

Don't forget to remove the timer.

  • Change the ActiCook® seal if it has any cuts.
  • Always use an original TEFAL seal corresponding to your model.

Safety

ActiCook ^® is fitted with several safety devices:

Closing safety:

- The jaws must be in contact with the edge of the lid. Otherwise, there is a steam leak in the pressure indicator and ActiCook ^® cannot be put under pressure.

  • If ActiCook ^ is under pressure, the position selector cannot be set to the opening icom as the mechanism is locked by the pressure indicator (D) (in raised position).
  • In this case, do not try to force opening, but set the position selector to and wait for the pressure indicator (D) to fall before opening ActiCook®.
  • Never force ActiCook® open.
  • Above all do not touch the pressure indicator.
  • Make sure that the interior pressure has fallen (pressure indicator (D) in lowered position).

Two safety measures against overpressure: \_\_\_\_

  • First measure: the safety valve (Q) releases the pressure and steam escapes from beneath the control module: - fig 18
  • Second measure: the seal allows steam to escape from between the lid and the pan - fig 19

If one of the overpressure safety systems is triggered:

  • Turn off the heat source.
  • Let ActiCook® completely cool down.
  • Open.
  • Check and clean the operating valve (P), the steam release outlet (A), the safety valve (Q) and the seal (G).
  • If, after these checks and cleaning, your product leaks or no longer works, take it to an TEFAL Approved Service Centre.

1 - Steam is very hot when it leaves the operating valve.
2 - Do not try to force opening. Ensure that the pressure indicator (D) is in the lowered position.
3 - As with any cooking utensil, ensure close supervision if you are using the pressure cooker near children.
4 - Watch out for the jet of steam.
5 - To move the pressure cooker, use the two pan handles.
6 - Never leave food in your pressure cooker.
7 - Never use bleach or products containing chlorine, as these will alter the quality of the steel.
8 - Do not leave the lid soaking in water.
9 - Change the seal every year.
10 - You must only clean your pressure cooker when it is cold and empty.
11 - It is essential to have your pressure cooker checked in an TEFAL Approved Service Centre after 10 years of use.

Warranty

- Your new TEFAL pressure cooker comes with a ten-year guarantee for use under the conditions set out in these instructions. This guarantee covers:

  • Any defects relating to the metal structure of the pressure cookebody,
