How to clean the Tefal Avante 8749 toaster?

Unplug the appliance and let it cool for 10 minutes. Clean the exterior with a damp cloth. For crumbs, unlock the crumb tray, empty it, then turn the appliance over to dislodge debris between the heating elements. Never immerse the toaster in water.

What to do if bread gets stuck in the toaster?

The appliance shuts off automatically. Unplug immediately and let it cool completely before carefully removing the bread. Never use metal objects.

How to use the Reheat function?

Place the already toasted bread in the slots, lower the left lever, then press the REHEAT button. The appliance heats briefly to warm without further browning.

How to use the Bagel function?

Cut the bagel in half, place cut side facing inward. Lower the left lever and press the BAGEL button. The heating elements grill the cut side and warm the outside.

Why does my toaster smell like new?

This is normal during first uses. To eliminate the odor, run the appliance empty 3 times at setting 6 (without bread).

Can I use an extension cord?

Yes, but with caution: the cord gauge must be at least equal to that of the appliance. Place it to avoid tripping hazards and do not let it hang off the counter.

Use the browning control from 1 to 6 (setting 1=light, 6=dark). Lower the lever to start. The bread lifts automatically at the end of the cycle.

Can I toast frozen foods?

This toaster is designed for bread and bakery products. It is not recommended for toasting frozen foods other than bread. Do not use to cook, defrost, or reheat frozen meals.

Does the appliance shut off automatically?

Yes, the toaster shuts off automatically at the end of the cycle. In case of bread jamming, the appliance also shuts off for safety. Use the Stop button to interrupt the cycle at any time.

• The toaster must always be used in the upright position (not on its side or tilted forward or back).
• Before each use, make sure that the crumb tray is in its proper location.
• Regularly remove crumbs from crumb tray.
• The control lever must be in the "Up" position before attaching or disconnecting the plug from wall outlet.
• If bread jams in the slots after toasting, the unit will automatically shut off. Disconnect the plug immediately from the wall outlet and wait for the appliance to cool before attempting to remove the bread.
• Disconnect the appliance if it shows any working abnormalities.

DO NOT

• Never leave the toaster unattended during operation, particularly when toasting for the first time or when changing settings.
• Do not touch the metal parts or hot surfaces of the appliance when it is working.
• Do not try to toast bread that may melt (with icing) or drip in the toaster and do not toast crusts as this may damage the appliance or cause a fire.
• Do not try to toast very thick slices of bread that could block the toasting mechanism.
• Bread can burn; do not cover this appliance while in use and do not use this appliance near any flammable materials such as curtains, under shelving or wall cupboards, etc. It should be attended when in use.
• Do not put paper towels, cardboard or plastic in, on or under the toaster.
• If flames were to arise from parts of the toaster, never attempt to extinguish them with water. Unplug the appliance and smother the flames with a damp cloth.
• Do not use this appliance as source of heating or drying.
• Do not use the toaster for cooking, grilling or defrosting frozen food other than bread products.
• Do not unplug appliance by pulling on cord. Instead grasp plug and pull to disconnect.
• Never wrap cord around toaster. Use cord storage on the underside of unit.

This appliance has a polarized plug (one blade is wider than the other). To reduce the risk of electric shock, this plug is intended to fit into a polarized outlet only one way. WARRANTY

ONE-YEAR LIMITED WARRANTY:

Groupe SEB (T-Fal) warrants this product to be defect free in material and workmanship for a period of one year from the date of purchase. This warranty extends to the original purchaser and any subsequent owner within the warranty period. If a defect is found to exist, T-fal will, at its option, either repair or replace the product or the defective component, including labor.

Replacement will be made with new or rebuilt product or components.

Proof of purchase is required to obtain warranty service, so keep the register receipt. If a product or component is returned without proof of purchase it will be reviewed based on the manufacturing production week and year to determine if there is warranty coverage.

This warranty does not apply to any unit that has been tampered with, nor to damages incurred through improper use and care, faulty packaging by you or mishandling by any common carrier.

T-fal's sole obligation and your exclusive remedy under this warranty is limited to such repair or replacement.

THE DURATION OF ANY IMPLIED WARRANTY WHATSOEVER, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO THE WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY AND FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, SHALL BE LIMITED TO THE DURATION OF THE EXPRESS WARRANTY PROVIDED HEREIN.

Some states do not allow limitations on how long an implied warranty lasts, so the above limitation may not apply to you.

T-FAL SHALL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INCIDENTAL OR CONSEQUENTIAL DAMAGES WHATSOEVER.

Some states do not allow the exclusion or limitation of incidental or consequential damages, so the above limitation or exclusion may not apply to you.

This warranty gives you specific legal rights, and you may also have other legal rights which vary from State to State.

1. Do not return the product to the retailer from which it was purchased.

2. Please contact our consumer service department for assistance and to ensure the fastest possible resolution to the problem. Please have the model or type number of your product on hand. If it is determined that you should return your product or a component of the product for warranty service, you will be given a return authorization number.

3. Send the product or component, postage-paid, together with proof of purchase, a description of the problem, and the return authorization number you were given, to the closest authorized T-fal return facility.

4. Be sure to include your name, address and home telephone number with your shipment. Another contact number is suggested in case you need to be contacted.
