When using electrical appliances, basic safety precautions should always be followed, including the following:
- Read all instructions before using.
- Do not touch hot surfaces. Use handles or knobs.
- To protect against electric shock, do not immerse cord, plugs or fryer in water or other liquid.
- Close supervision is necessary when any appliance is used by or near children.
- Unplug from outlet when not in use and before cleaning. Allow to cool before putting on or taking off parts, and before cleaning the appliance.
- Do not operate any appliance with a damaged cord or plug or after the appliance malfunctions, or has been damaged in any manner. Return appliance to the nearest authorized service facility for examination, repair or adjustment.
- The use of accessory attachments not recommended by the appliance manufacturer may cause injuries.
- Do not use outdoors.
- Do not let cord hang over edge of table or counter, or touch hot surfaces.
- Do not place on or near a hot gas or electric burner, or in a heated oven.
- Extreme caution must be used when moving an appliance containing hot food.

Always attach plug to appliance first (depending on model), then plug cord in the wall outlet. To disconnect, turn any control to "off", then remove plug from wall outlet.

14. SAVE THESE INSTRUCTIONS FOR HOUSEHOLD USE ONLY.
- Before use, check that your local voltage corresponds with the specifications shown on the appliance nameplate located under the appliance.
- Only connect the appliance to electrical sockets which have a minimum load of 15A. If the sockets and the plug on the appliance should prove incompatible, get a professionally qualified technician to replace the socket with a more suitable one.
- This electrical equipment operates at high temperatures which may cause burns. Do not touch the hot surfaces of the appliance (lid, plastic parts...).
- To ensure safe operation, oversized foods must not be inserted into the appliance.
- Do not overload the pan. For safety reasons never exceed the maximum quantity.

- Do not move the appliance when it is full of hot food.

POLARIZATION INSTRUCTIONS (USA/Canada)
This appliance has a polarized plug (one blade is wider than the other). To reduce the risk of electric shock this plug is intended to fit into a polarized outlet only one way. If the plug does not fit fully into the outlet, reverse the plug. If it still does not fit, contact a qualified electrician. Do not attempt to modify the plug in any way.
SHORT CORD INSTRUCTIONS
Do not use with an extension cord. A short power-supply cord is to be provided to reduce the risk resulting from becoming entangled in or tripping over a longer cord.

Quick introduction for use
Before first use
- To remove the lid – fig.1, press the lid opening buttons (13) at the same time and lift the latch (3) to take off the lid – fig.2.
- Remove the measuring spoon.
- Lift the handle to a horizontal position until you hear a "click" as it locks.
• Take out the cooking pan – fig. 3.
To remove the turn-over ring, pull the clips outwards, then lift it off (Depending on model). - To remove the paddle, lift up the light grey colour locking lever positioned on part of the paddle. Position your thumb on the top of the paddle and your index and middle finger under the locking lever, lift up the locking lever using your fingers to unlock the paddle – fig. 4a.
- All the removable parts are dishwasher safe – fig. 5 or can be washed with a soft sponge and washing up liquid.
- Wipe the base of the appliance using a damp cloth and washing up liquid.
- Rinse and dry the parts carefully before putting them back together.
- To fit the paddle, pull the light grey colour locking lever up, then place the paddle in the middle of the cooking pan and push the locking lever down – fig. 4b.
To replace the turn-over ring, place it at the edge of the pan, centre it on the pan and press down until you hear a "CLICK". (Depending on model) - During its first use, the appliance may give off a slight odour: this is not harmful and it will disappear quickly. It has no effect on the functioning of your + ActiFry.
Remove all the stickers and any packaging.
Never immerse the base in water.
On first use, to obtain the best results from your new product, we advise you to prepare a recipe that cooks for 30 minutes or more.
Preparing food
For chips, never exceed the maximum level indicated on the paddle – fig. 6. Do not leave the measuring spoon inside the pan when cooking food.
- Place the food in the cooking pan, distributing it evenly, making sure that you respect the maximum quantity (see cooking tables p. 5 to 7).
- Add the oil to the food with the spoon – fig. 7, spreading it evenly (see cooking tables p. 5 to 7).
(1 spoonful of oil = 14 ml of oil) - Unlock the handle and fold it completely into its housing – fig. 8.
- Close the lid – fig. 9.
- Never exceed the maximum quantities of ingredients and liquids indicated in the instruction manual and in the recipe book.
Cooking
Set the cooking time (Depending on model)
- Press the timer setting button to set the time. (Depending on model) Hold down the button until desired time is featured on the display – fig. 10 (see cooking tables p. 5 to 7).
- Now release. The selected time (in minutes) is displayed and the countdown starts.
- If you make a mistake or to delete the selected time, hold down the button for 2 seconds then set the time again.
BE CAREFUL: the timer signals the end of the cooking but does not switch off the fryer.
Starting the cooking
When you open the lid, the appliance stops working.
- Press the On/Off switch, the cooking begins thanks to the hot air circulation inside the cooking enclosure – fig.11. The paddle rotates slowly in a clockwise direction.

Taking food out
- Once cooking is completed, the timer beeps. To stop the beeping signal, press the timer setting button – fig.12.
- Press on On/Off to stop the appliance – fig. 13 and open the lid.
- Lift the handle until you hear a “click” that it locks and take out the cooking pan – fig. 14.
- Serve at once.
To avoid any risk of burns do not touch the lid or any part other than the cool touch area.

Easy cleaning
Cleaning the appliance
- Leave it to cool down completely before cleaning.
- Open the lid – fig. 1 and lift the latch to take off the lid – fig. 2.
- Lift the handle to the horizontal position until you hear a "click" as it locks – fig. 3.

To remove the turn-over ring, pull the clips outwards, then lift it off.
- To remove the mixing paddle, lift up the locking lever – fig. 4a.
- Remove the filter by pulling the top – fig. 3 and wash it.
- All the removable parts are dishwasher safe – fig. 5 or can be washed with a soft sponge and washing up liquid.
- Clean the base of the appliance using a damp cloth and washing up liquid.
- Rinse and dry parts carefully before putting them back together.
- If food gets stuck or burnt on to the pan or paddle, leave them to soak in warm water before cleaning.
- The appliance has a non-stick cooking pan: the browning and scratches which may appear after long term use do not present any problems and are normal.
- We guarantee that the non-stick coating complies with regulations concerning materials in contact with foodstuffs.
Never immerse the base in water.
Do not use harsh or abrasive cleaning products or scourers.
The removable filter must be cleaned regularly.
To retain the non-stick qualities of the cooking pan for as long as possible, do not use metal utensils when serving food.

Classic Crispy French Fries

1 ¼ lbs (875 g) Russet potatoes - 1 vegetable oil such as canola, corn or sunflower - 1/2 tsp (2 mL) salt (approx.)

- Peel the potatoes and cut into fries of equal size, no more than 2/3-inch (13 mm) thick on all sides recommended. Rinse fries thoroughly in water; drain well. Use a clean kitchen towel to thoroughly dry the fries.
- Place the fries in the ActiFry® Pan. Drizzle evenly with the oil. Cook for 30 to 40 minutes or until the fries are crisp, golden and cooked through. (The cooking time will vary depending on the thickness of the fries and the variety of potato used.)
- Season fries with salt (adjust to taste).
For the crispiest fries, it is essential to thoroughly dry the fries. Variations: Substitute a 2 lb (1 kg) bag of frozen fries for the fresh potatoes.

An order of fast food fries may contain as much as 27 grams of fat for a regular serving. Serve these fries as a healthier treat instead. Leave the skin on for added fibre. Excellent source of Folate.

1 3/4 lbs (875 g) Yukon gold potatoes, unpeeled - 2 vegetable oil, divided - 1½ all-purpose flour - 1½ cups (375 mL) beef broth - Dash Worcestershire sauce - 1/2 tsp (2 mL) each salt and pepper (approx.) - 1 cup (250 mL) cubed part-skim mozzarella cheese

- Scrub the potatoes and cut into fries of equal size, each about 1/2-inch (1 cm) thick on all sides recommended. Rinse fries thoroughly in water; drain well. Use a clean kitchen towel to thoroughly dry the fries.
- Place the fries in the ActiFry® Pan. Drizzle evenly with half the oil. Cook for 40 minutes, or until the fries are crisp, golden and cooked through. Season with half of the salt and pepper (adjust to taste).
- Meanwhile, heat the remaining oil in a small saucepan set over medium heat. Add the flour and cook, stirring for 1 minute or until flour is lightly browned. Whisk in the broth and Worcestershire sauce. Bring to a boil. Cook, stirring often, for 5 minutes or until thickened. Season with remaining salt and pepper (adjust to taste).
- Divide the fries between 4 serving plates. Top each serving with an equal amount of cheese. Drizzle with hot gravy to melt cheese.

Sweet and Saucy Pork Tenderloin

1 olive oil - 1 onion, thinly sliced - 1 lb (500 g) pork tenderlain, thinly sliced - 1 cornstarch, divided - 1 cup (250 mL) plain tomato sauce - 1 brown sugar - 1 each red wine vinegar and soy sauce - 2 doves garlic, minced - 1 tsp (5 mL) each minced ginger and toasted sesame oil - 2 cups (500 mL) each shredded Napa or Chinese cabbage and thinly sliced shiitake mushrooms
- Place the onion and oil in the ActiFry® pan. Cook for 5 minutes. Meanwhile, toss the pork with 1/2 ActiFry® spoon cornstarch. Add the coated pork to the ActiFry® pan. Cook for 5 minutes. (If necessary, stir the pork with a wooden spoon to separate the slices.)
- Meanwhile, whisk the remaining cornstarch with the tomato sauce; stir in the brown sugar, red wine vinegar, soy sauce, garlic, ginger and sesame oil.
- Add the tomato sauce mixture, cabbage and mushrooms to the ActiFry® pan. Cook for 10 minutes or until the pork is tender and the sauce is thickened.
Variations: Substitute lean beef, lamb or chicken breast for the pork.

For a lower salt version of this recipe, use sodium-reduced soy sauce and low-sodium tomato sauce.

Roasted Pineapple with Figs and Honey

1 fresh, ripe pineapple - 3 honey (wildflower preferred), 4 fresh figs cut into quarters - 1 lemon juice - 1/2 tsp (2 mL) ground cinnamon, ginger or cardamom

- Cut the top and base from the pineapple. Holding upright, use a sharp knife to cut down the sides of the fruit, removing the peel. Quarter the pineapple lengthwise. Remove and discard the centre core from each quarter; slice crossways into 12 inch (1 cm) thick pieces.
- Place the pineapple in the ActiFry® pan. Drizzle with 2 ActiFry® spoons of the honey and lemon juice. Cook for 10 minutes.
- Quarter the figs. Add the figs and cinnamon to the ActiFry® pan. Drizzle with the remaining honey. Cook for 5 minutes.
Serve over sponge cake, frozen yogurt or ice cream.
Variations: Substitute chopped dried figs if the fresh fruit is out of season.

Figs can be replaced with lower GI fruits such as cherries, raspberries or strawberries; add the pitted or hulled fruit just before serving. Excellent source of Vitamin C.
