MAKING COFFEE

  1. Fill heater (10) with cold water by using the graduated measuring cup supplied (11) Fig. A, following the amounts indicated in the table (*).
  2. Insert the funnel filter (8) into the heater (10). Fig. B.
  3. Fill the funnel filter (8) with ground coffee for Moka, without pressing it down, taking care not to leave coffee powder on the rim of the coffee maker, Fig. C.
  4. Screw the upper part (5) on the heater (10) and tighten well, without pressing too much and avoiding to force the handle (4), Fig. D.
  5. Put the coffee maker on the heat source. In case of flame, prevent it from going beyond the rim of the coffee unit. In case of electric/ceramic glass plate, maintain a medium setting Fig. E.
  6. After few seconds, make sure froth formation has been completed inside the upper part (5).
  7. Immediately remove Brikka from the heat source.

  8. Pour coffee into the cups, evenly distributing the coffee and froth*. (*) Indicative value: it can vary based on the amount of water or coffee, the type of coffee blend, and its grinding (see table).

NOTE: After having removed Brikka from the heat source, for few seconds dispensing might be still heard from the valve system (2).

IMPORTANT: When the coffee has come out, do not leave Brikka on the heat source. The froth might disappear and the coffee might overflow from the upper part.

BIALETTI INSPECTION SAFETY VALVE (9)

The Bialetti valve has been patented and designed to guarantee the use of the coff ee maker in complete safety.

Using the coffee maker with drinking water might entail the risk of formation of lime scale in the hole of the valve, causing its clogging. To avoid clogging arising from lime scale, just move the small piston coming out of the valve along its axis during the normal washing operations, Fig. F. It is advisable to carry out this inspection periodically to ensure its proper operation. The safety valve is a protective element and should intervene only in conditions of abnormal operation or use of the coffee maker.
