Before using the device for the fi rst time, please carefully read through the instruc- tions and store them for future reference. If you have questions about the device or spare parts/accessories, contact customer service via our website: www.service-shopping.deEN 12 Safety notes ■ This device may be used by children aged 8 and over and by people with reduced physical, sensory or mental abilities or a lack of experience and/or knowledge if they are supervised or have received instruction on how to use the device safely and have understood the dangers resulting from this. ■ Children must not play with the device. ■ Cleaning and user maintenance may not be performed by child- ren, unless they are older than 8 years of age and are super- vised. ■ Children younger than 8 years of age and animals must be kept away from the device and the mains cord. Warning of hot surfaces! The device will become very hot during use. Make absolutely sure that you do not come into contact with any heated parts during and after use of the device. Only touch the handles while the device is in use or immediately after it has been switched off. We recommend you wear kitchen gloves when handling the device. Only transport or store away the device after it has cooled down completely. The device must not be moved during operation. ■ The device should always be unplugged from the power sup- ply if it is not supervised, and before assembly, disassembly or cleaning. ■ Check the device for damage before each use. If the device, the cable or the plug show visible signs of damage, the device must not be used. Do not use the device if it has malfunctioned or been dropped. You should then have it checked by an autho- rised service centre. ■ Do not make any modifi cations to the device. Also do not repla- ce the mains cord yourself. If the device, the mains cord or the device plug is damaged, it must be replaced by the manufacturer or customer service or by a similarly qualifi ed person (e.g. quali- fi ed workshop) to avoid any risks. ■ The device is not intended to be operated with an external timer or a separate telecontrol system.13 EN ■ CAUTION: Note the information on cleaning provided in the “Cleaning and storage” chapter. Risks of injury ■ Keep children and animals away from the device and packaging material! There is a danger of injury and suffocation. ■ CAUTION: Danger of scalding from heat and hot steam! Hot steam may be emitted from the device during operation. You should therefore keep your head and hands out of the danger zone. ■ Always allow the device to cool off completely before you clean and / or store it. ■ Make sure that the connected mains cord does not present a trip hazard. The cord must not hang down from the surface on which the device is placed in order to pre- vent the device from being pulled down. ■ The device should only be used and stored out of the reach of children. The mains cable must also be kept out of the reach of children. Danger of Electric Shock and Fire ■ Use the device only in enclosed spaces. ■ Always set up the device with a suffi cient amount of clear space on all sides and clear space above it (around 30 cm) in order to prevent any build-up of heat. ■ Do not use the device if highly fl ammable gases are present in the air. Never operate the device in the vicinity of a gas source. ■ Never set up or use the device in the vicinity of highly fl ammable materials (curtains, textiles, etc.). ■ Do not place any combustible materials or materials that melt easily (such as card- board, plastic, paper or candles) on or in the device. ■ Do not cover the device during operation in order to prevent it from catching fi re. Provide adequate ventilation while the device is in operation. ■ In the event of a fi re: – It is essential to remove the mains plug immediately. – Hot fat / oil may catch fi re if it is overheated. Do not extinguish burning fat / oil with water, but smother the fl ames with a fi reproof blanket or similar cloth or extinguish a fat fi re with a fi re extinguisher which is capable of extinguishing fi res involving cooking fat! – Do NOT use water to extinguish the fi re as the steam can pose an additional risk of scalding. – Dispose of the device. ■ In order to avoid electric shocks, do not use the device near water or other liquids. Set up the device so that the mains cable and the plug cannot come into contact with water or other liquids. ■ Never immerse the device or cable in water or other liquids. If the device falls into water, turn off the power supply immediately. Do not attempt to pull the device out of the water when it is connected to the mains supply! ■ Never touch the device, the mains cord and the mains plug with wet hands when these components are connected to the mains supply.EN 14 ■ The device should only be connected to a properly installed socket with safety con- tacts. The plug socket must also be readily accessible after connection. The mains voltage must match the technical data of the device. Only use suitable extension cables whose technical data is the same as that of the device. ■ Make sure that the mains cord does not get pinched, kinked or laid over sharp edges and does not come into contact with hot surfaces. ■ Turn the device off and pull the mains plug out of the socket if a fault occurs during operation or before a storm. Avoiding damage to materials, property and the device ■ Always place the device on a dry, level, fi rm and heat-resistant surface. ■ Maintain suffi cient clearance from other sources of heat such as hotplates or stoves in order to avoid damage to the device. ■ Do not expose the device to extreme temperatures, strong temperature fl uctuations, direct sunlight or moisture. ■ Do not drop the device or allow it to be knocked violently. ■ Do not pull or carry the device by the mains cord. Always pull the plug, never the cord, to remove the mains plug from the socket. ■ Only use heat-resistant utensils for placing foods on or removing them from the de- vice. Keep metallic objects or other objects with sharp edges away from the device. They may damage the coating of the grill plates. We recommend you use kitchen utensils made of wood or plastic. ■ Do not insert foods packed in aluminium foil, cling wrap, plastic bags or similar in the device. ■ Never spray cold water on the grill plates during or directly after using the device. This could damage the coating! ■ Do not use any corrosive or abrasive cleaning agents to clean the device. They could damage the surface. Hygienic notes ■ There may be some production residues stuck to the device. To avoid health risks, clean the grill plates thoroughly before fi rst use (see chapter “Cleaning and storage”). ■ It is possible that smoke and odour may be produced the fi rst time you use the de- vice. Before Initial Use CAUTION! ■ Keep children and animals away from the packaging material. There is a danger of suffocation, as well as other hazards! ■ Please note: You might notice some smoke and a strange smell the fi rst time you use the device. We therefore recommend that you initially heat up the device for a few mi- nutes WITHOUT any contents in order to burn off any production residues that may remain. During this time, make sure the room is well ventilated, e.g. with wide-open windows! ■ The device may contain production residues. To avoid harmful effects to your health, thoroughly clean the device before you use it for the fi rst time. Never immerse the device in water or other liquids to clean it. ■ Do not use any caustic or abrasive cleaning agents for cleaning. These may damage the device.
1. Unpack all parts and check the items supplied for completeness (see the "Items
Supplied and Device Overview" chapter) and transport damage. Remove all fi lms and stickers that may be present. If the device does have any damage, do not use it(!), but contact our customer service department.
2. Clean the device and grill plates with a soft kitchen towel and a little mild detergent.
Then dry the device well.
3. Place the device on a dry, heat-resistant, fl at surface with suffi cient clearance on all
sides and above (around 30 cm).EN 16
4. Insert the mains plug into a properly installed 220 –240 V plug socket. Make sure
that the cable is not trapped between the grill surfaces! Move the temperature control to the highest setting and allow the device to heat up for around 5 - 10 min- utes to remove any possible production residues.
5. Switch the device off by pulling the mains plug from the mains socket.
6. Allow the device to cool down and then clean it again with a soft kitchen towel and a
little mild detergent. Then dry the device well. Use CAUTION! ■ Caution: Danger of burns! The device will become hot during use. Make absolutely sure that you do not come into contact with any heated parts such as the housing or the grill plate during and after use of the device. Only touch the device by the handles provided and use oven cloths or kitchen gloves when handling the device. Only clean, transport and store away the device after it has cooled down completely. ■ If you have burnt yourself on a hot surface, cool the spot immediately with cold water and consult a doctor immediately to get treatment for the burn. ■ When opening the device, keep a suffi cient distance to prevent burns caused by heat or hot steam. ■ The device should only be used and stored out of the reach of children. The mains cable must also be kept out of the reach of children. ■ Never use the device without the fat collecting tray. Cooking fat runs out of the fat drain on the back of the device when it is used! Always insert the fat collecting tray into the device before it is used! The device is suitable for grilling and frying fi sh, meat and vegetables and for preparing toasted sandwiches etc.
1. Place the closed grill on a stable, even, heat-resistant surface.
2. Insert the fat collecting tray into the bottom of the housing.
3. Connect the device to a properly installed plug socket. The operating lamp lights up
as soon as the device is connected to the mains power. Make sure that the cable does not come into contact with hot surfaces during use.
4. Move the temperature control to the MAX position to preheat the device. The preheating
process lasts about 5 minutes. The device has reached operating temperature when the heating control lamp lights up. Please note that during the grilling process the heating control lamp may go out and then light up again at regular intervals as the device reheats and then stops heating in order to maintain a constant temperature.
5. Now use the temperature control to set the device to the temperature setting you want.
6. Open the device by opening up the device by the handle.
If you want to use the device as an open table-top grill, pull the locking catch forwards and fully open up the upper part of the housing at the same time.
7. Place the food that you want to prepare on the lower grill plate and close the device.17 EN
8. Keep the device closed for a few minutes. Remove your food when it is as cooked
and brown as you want it to be. Use only a wooden or plastic utensil to remove your food.
9. Disconnect the device from the mains power after use and allow it to cool down
before you clean it. Cleaning and Storage CAUTION! ■ Remove the plug from the mains socket before doing any cleaning. ■ Do not immerse the device in water or other liquids to clean it. ■ Do not put the device in the dishwasher to clean it. ■ Always allow the device and the contents of the fat collecting tray to cool down com- pletely before you clean the parts and dispose of the contents. ■ Do not use any corrosive or abrasive cleaning agents to clean the device. These can damage the surface.
- Make sure the device is switched off!
- Clean the device and grill plates with a soft kitchen towel and a little mild detergent. Then dry the device well.
- Clean the fat collecting tray using hot water and mild detergent. Then thoroughly dry the tray.
- Store the device and the fat collecting tray in a dry, protected place. Troubleshooting If the device is not working properly, please check fi rst of all whether you are able to rectify a problem yourself. Do not attempt to repair a defective device yourself! Problem Possible cause / solution The device does not work / the operating lamp does not light up.
- Is the mains plug correctly inserted in the plug socket?
- Is the plug socket defective? Try another plug socket.
- Check the fuse of your mains connection. The heating control lamp goes out and lights up again at regular intervals.
- During the grilling process, the control lamp may light up and then go out again. When the control lamp lights up, this means that the device is heating again in or- der to maintain a constant temperature. This is not a malfunction!EN 18 Problem Possible cause / solution Development of odours or smoke
- When the device is fi rst used: Any production residues that may remain may result in a small amount of odour or smoke development. This is normal. Allow the device to heat up for about 5 – 10 minutes (see the “Use” chapter). During this time, make sure the room is well ventilated, e.g. with wide-open windows!
- The device has already been used: Is the device dirty or contaminated? Follow the instructions in the “Cleaning and storage” chapter.
