3-PRONG PLUG INSTRUCTIONS

For your personal safety, this appliance must be grounded. This appliance is equipped with a power supply cord having a 3-prong grounding plug. To minimize possible shock hazard, the cord must be plugged into a mating 3 prong, grounding type, wall receptacle, grounded in accordance with the National Electrical Code ANSI/NFPA 70 latest edition and all local codes and ordinances. If a mating wall receptacle is not available, it is the personal responsibility and obligation of the customer to have a properly grounded, 3-prong, wall receptacle installed by a qualified electrician. Do not attempt to modify the plug in any way.

SHORT CORD INSTRUCTIONS

A short power supply cord is provided to reduce hazards resulting from becoming entangled in or tripping over a longer cord. Extension cords may be used if care is exercised during use.

  • Electrical rating of the extension cord should be at least that of the appliance. If electrical rating is too low, it could overheat and burn.
  • The resulting extension cord should be arranged so that it will not drape over the countertop or tabletop where it can be pulled on by children or tripped over.

The KALORIK Bartista can make cold brew coffee or tea, hot coffee or tea, hot chocolate, cappuccinos, lattes, and cold foam – all at the touch of a button. This innovative electric French press features six one-touch presets for creating a wide variety of hot and cold barista-style beverages. A magnetic drive motor and frothing disc deliver rich and airy frothed milk, perfect for making cappuccinos, macchiatos, lattes, and hot chocolate. The special chocolate melting function allows you to add chocolate bars directly into the pitcher to make decadent hot chocolate. The stainless-steel cage prevents the stirring element from getting clogged during melting. The Bartista comes with a removable glass pitcher and a French press accessory. A high-power heating element warms beverages up to 200°F. A 24-oz brewing capacity yields 3 large servings of coffee, or 2 servings of foam.

BEFORE THE FIRST USE

  • Before using the appliance for the first time, remove and peel off all promotional and packaging materials.
  • Clean carafe under warm water before use.

OPERATION

- Place base of unit on a flat, dry, heat-resistant surface. Then, place carafe on base.

Attention: for best performance please make sure that the heating surface and the base of the jar are always free of debris or food particles

  • Connect power.
  • The LED indicator light will illuminate once in a clockwise motion to signal that the appliance is successfully connected to the outlet.
  • Press the center selection button to turn appliance on and off, or to switch appliance to standby mode (all lights are off).
  • Your Bartista has 6 settings: COLD BREW, HOT BREW, HOT CHOCOLATE, LATTE, CAPPUCCINO, and COLD FOAM.

Note: Functions will not work if carafe is improperly placed on the appliance. If carafe is removed while the appliance is operating, the

appliance will automatically stop heating. To restart, place carafe back down and press your desired function again.

  • Once the operation is complete, the unit will emit a beep sound and the light will turn off letting you know the carafe is ready to remove.
    Note: This step works with all functions with the exception of HOT BREW, which involves a two-step process. See below for details on hot brew.
  • When all functions are in operation, the lid must be closed with the plunger in raised position. Only after the French press function is finished should you press the plunger down to the lowest position of the carafe.
  • Markings on carafe indicate drink levels. Pour your desired level of milk or water, then place lid back onto carafe.

Note: Do not fill liquid above the MAX line as it runs a risk of overflow.

- Unplug unit when not in use and allow the appliance to cool down completely before cleaning.

COLD BREW

  • To make a refreshing cold brew coffee, place the stainless-steel cage at the bottom of carafe, covering the whisk.
  • Add coffee grounds to carafe, and close lid with the plunger in raised position above the MAX line.
  • Press the center selection button until COLD BREW is selected. The light will illuminate.

Note: When using this function, the motor will turn on and off throughout the process - on for 30 seconds, off for 10, until completely done. The heating element will not turn on during this process.

- The COLD BREW cycle takes 30 minutes to complete.

- Once finished brewing, the Bartista will beep, letting you know it is time to press down the plunger.

- Press the plunger down into the carafe to filter the coffee grounds. Pour over ice and enjoy your refreshing cold brew!

HOT BREW

[2 step process]

Step 1: Heat the water

  • For hot brew coffee, begin by adding water to carafe. Close lid and place carafe onto base.
  • Press the center selection button until HOT BREW is selected. The light will illuminate.
  • Once the HOT BREW function is activated, the unit will automatically begin heating your water.

- Step 2: Add coffee grounds and steep the coffee

- Once water has reached optimal temperature, the Bartista will beep and its LED lights will flash, signaling to add the coffee grounds.

- Pour coffee grounds into carafe and stir with a spoon. Close lid, leaving the plunger in raised position above the MAX line. You will have a short window of time to add coffee grounds before the function turns off.

- Once coffee grounds are added and the lid is closed, press the center selection button once. The Bartista will then begin steeping your coffee.

- The unit will steep for approximately 3 minutes, swirling the water throughout the process to ensure optimal steeping.

- Once complete, the Bartista will beep, letting you know it's time to press down the plunger.

- Slowly press the plunger all the way down to the bottom of carafe and pour yourself a delicious, aromatic cup of hot coffee. Sip carefully and enjoy!

HOT CHOCOLATE

- To make creamy, decadent hot chocolate, place the stainless-steel cage at the bottom of carafe.

- Add cocoa or chocolate, and milk of your choice into carafe. If using solid chocolate, add milk first, then chocolate.

Close lid with the plunger in raised position. Press the center selection button until HOT CHOCOLATE is selected. The light will illuminate.

- Contents of carafe will move in a swirling motion to ensure an evenly blended beverage.

- Once complete, the unit will beep to indicate that the hot chocolate function is completed. Remove carafe and place it onto a flat surface. Remove lid and pour into your favorite mug.

- Cozy up to a comforting cup of decadent, homemade hot chocolate. Indulge and enjoy!

LATTE

- To make creamy, café-style lattes, remove the stainless-steel cage from the bottom of carafe.

- Add milk to carafe and close lid with the plunger in raised position above the MAX line.

- Press the center selection button until LATTE is selected. The light will illuminate.

  • The unit will begin heating milk until it reaches the optimal temperature of 150^ F ( 65^ C). Milk will move in a swirling motion throughout the heating process to produce the foam. Once complete, the unit will beep to indicate that the latte function is completed.
  • Remove carafe and place on a flat surface. Remove lid.
  • Pour hot milk over a tall cup of freshly brewed coffee or espresso. Top with a dollop of foam and enjoy your creamy coffee house latte.

CAPPUCCINO

  • Create a classic cappuccino with frothed milk and tons of light, airy foam.
  • To yield the maximum amount of foam, remove stainless-steel cage from the bottom of carafe.
  • Add milk to carafe and close lid with the plunger in raised position above the MAX line.
  • Press the center selection button until CAPPUCCINO is selected. The light will illuminate.
  • The unit will heat milk until it reaches the optimal temperature of 150^ F ( 65^ C). The unit will vigorously swirl milk throughout the heating process until it produces light, airy foam. Once complete the unit will beep.
  • Remove carafe and place onto a flat surface. Remove lid.
  • Pour frothed milk from the carafe into a mug with your coffee or espresso until reaching about halfway up the mug. Using a spoon, top with a generous dollop of foam. Add a dash of cinnamon or cocoa powder for an elegant finish.
  • The ratio for a cappuccino is traditionally 1/3 coffee, 1/3 milk, and 1/3 foam.

COLD FOAM

  • This setting creates café-style cold foam.
  • To yield the maximum amount of foam, remove the stainless-steel cage from the bottom of carafe.
  • Add milk to carafe and close lid.
  • Press the center selection button until COLD FOAM is selected. The light will illuminate.
  • The cold foam process takes 2 minutes ± 10 seconds.
  • Once complete, remove carafe and place on a flat surface.
  • Pour cold frothed milk directly from carafe or use a spoon to scoop the foam directly into your beverage of choice.

CLEANING AND MAINTENANCE

  • Before cleaning, unplug appliance and wait for it to cool down completely.
  • Remove carafe from base and remove lid from carafe. Clean lid/stainless steel plunger by running under warm water. You may also wash in the dishwasher if necessary.
  • The carafe can be cleaned with warm soapy water. Rinse well and towel dry.
    Note: placing the carafe in the dishwasher may affect the appearance of the base and make it dull. This will not impact the performance of the product.

- Wipe the base with a damp cloth and towel dry.

Note: Never immerse the base and power cord in water or any other liquid.

  • The heating plate in the center of the base may change color if liquid is spilled onto it. You may use a damp cloth with vinegar solution or baking soda to scrub it off.
    • Once dry, store in a cool and dry place.

This KALORIK product is warranted in the U.S.A. and Canada for one year from the date of purchase against defects in material and workmanship. This warranty is non-transferrable. Please keep the original sales receipt. Proof of purchase is required to obtain warranty performance.

During this period, if the KALORIK product is proven defective upon inspection by KALORIK, it will be repaired or replaced at KALORIK's option, without charge to the customer. If a replacement product is sent, it will carry the remaining warranty of the original product.

This warranty does not apply to any defect arising from a buyer or user's misuse of the product, negligence, failure to follow KALORIK instructions noted in the user's manual, use on current or voltage other than that indicated on the product, wear and tear, alteration or repair not authorized by KALORIK, or use for commercial purposes. There is no warranty for glass parts, glass containers, filter basket, blades and agitators, and accessories in general. There is also no warranty for parts lost by the user.
