Purpose of the applance The sole purpose of ths applance s to make coffee. The use of the applance for other purposes s not permtted and may be hazardous. The manufacturer cannot be held lable for losses caused by usng the applance for purposes other than those ndcated here or by ncorrect use. Guarantee condtons The guarantee condtons applcable to ths applance form an ntegral part of the general terms of delvery. Applances and the envronment The packng materal Your new coffee maker has been carefully packaged to protect t aganst damage. The packng s not harmful to the envronment and conssts of the followng materals: Corrugated cardboard Fller elements made of polyurethane foam <PUR> covered wth a polythene flm (>PE-HD<). The waste processng plant n your muncpalty wll be pleased to nform you about where you can dspose of the materals. Dscardng the applance No applance lasts forever. When the tme comes to dscard your applance t wll usually be possble to return t to your dealer. If ths s not the case, ask your muncpal councl about the alternatves for recyclng the materals. All plastc parts have been gven standard codes. The parts of the applance such as the prnted crcut board and accompanyng parts form electrcal and electronc waste. The metal ppes are made of stanless steel and can be completely ds- mantled.Excelso

Make sure that the applance s level and placed somewhere where t wll not cause damage should leakage occur. The power connecton must be wthn half a metre of where the machne s postoned. Unpackng The machne has been carefully packed to prevent damage beng caused to your new applance. Remove the packng carefully wthout usng sharp objects. Check f the applance s complete. To protect the stanless steel parts from scratches these surfaces are temporary protected by a fol. Ths fol must be removed durng nstallaton. The applance s delvered wth the followng accessores:

• Always remove the plug from the socket f the machne has to be opened for repar or mantenance.

• Do not poston the machne n areas where the temperature drops below freezng pont because there s always water left n the system.

• Have all repars carred out by a specally traned techncan.

• Make sure that the mans cable does not come nto contact wth the hot plates (when present) whch become extremely hot when s use.Excelso

Ths chapter wll explan the coffee brewng and hot water system process: when the applance s used for the frst tme. when the applance has not been used for more than one week, for example after a holday perod. Slde the empty basket flter nto the applance.1. Pour one jug of cold water nto the water reservor and place an empty 2. jug (wth ld) underneath the flter. Wat for three mnutes so that the entre heatng system can de-aerate.3. Place the plug n the socket and turn the machne on usng the man 4. swtch (fg. 3C or 4C). The brew ndcator lght (fg. 3A or 4A) wll now lght up untl the appl-5. ance has run though. When the lght goes out agan and the jug has been empted, the applance s ready for use. Tp: In case the lght does not lght up, there wll probably be some ar nsde the system. Check the supply down n the water reservor (fg.5), there mght be some ar bubbles nsde. Basc nstructons for brewng coffee Use fne-grnd coffee. Keep the jugs and the basket flter clean. Only use fresh cold water to fll the water reservor. Place a sheet of basket flter paper (90/250) contanng the desred amount 1. of coffee (fne grnd type) n the basket flter and slde t nto the applance. See the table above for the amount of coffee requred. Pour one jug of 2. cold water nto the water reservor and place an empty jug (wth ld) underneath the flter. Attenton; fll the machne wth mnmal ½ a jug of water , otherwse the brewng process wll not start! Swtch on the applance usng the on/off swtch (fg. 3C / 4C). The lower hot 3. plate (*) wll also swtch on. The brew ndcator (fg. 3A / 4A) wll lght up and the coffee brewng process wll begn.4. When the ndcator lght swtches off agan, the hot water supply wll stop. 5. After about 1 mnute, all of the coffee wll have poured through the flter. Str the coffee n the jug brefly and pour the coffee out, or place t on the upper 6. hot plate (*). The upper hot plate s swtched on separately usng swtch (fg. 3B). Always swtch off the extra hot plate when t s not beng used. Once the basket flter has been cleaned you can mmedately resume makng coffee.7. (*) f present

• Stay near the machne whle mantenance s beng carred out.

• When descalng the machne, always observe the nstructons for use provded wth the des- calng agent.

• When descalng the machne, t s advsable to wear safety goggles and protectve gloves.

• Allow the machne to run through at least three tmes after t has been descaled.

• Wash your hands thoroughly after descalng.

• The machne should not be submerged or sprayed.

• Never clean the hot plates (f present) wth an abrasve or sharp object. Ths way scratches on the teflon surface wll be prevented.

• Have all repars carred out by a specally traned techncan.Excelso

Cleanng of the applance and accessores Clean the outsde of the applance wth a clean, damp cloth, f necessary usng a mld (non-abrasve) cleanng agent. Do not use an abrasve, as ths wll leave scratches and dull patches. The glass jugs and the basket flter can be washed normally and rnsed clean. Please note, however, that t s nadvsable to clean the basket flter n an ndustral dsh washer as ts lghtness may cause t to float and sustan damage. The coffee depost n the coffee jugs and the flter can be cleaned wth CaterChef coffee fur remover.

The machne can leave lme deposts durng use. The machne should be descaled mnmum once a month n order to ensure that t functons effcently. Before descalng the applance, carefully read the nstructons for use on the scale remover. 1. We advse you to use the tred and tested CaterChef scale remover. Dssolve one 50 gram sachet of CaterChef scale remover n 1 ltre of warm water (approx. 60-70˚C).2. Slde an empty basket flter nto the flter holder and place an empty jug under t.3. Carefully pour the soluton nto the reservor and swtch on the applance (fg. 3A / 4A)). 4. The soluton wll now run through the heatng system and dscharge nto the jug. Leave the ld of the reservor open! Swtch off the applance usng swtch (fg. 3A / 4A) after 1 mnute.5. Now wat about 2 mnutes. The soluton wll react wth the depost n the heatng system.6. After the watng tme, swtch the applance back on and allow the rest of the soluton to run 7. through the system. Wash away the soluton n the jug untl the flter has fnshed drppng.8. After descalng the applance, flush the system by followng the coffee brewng procedure tree 9. tmes but wthout usng flter paper or coffee. Remember to empty the jug n the meantme. Swtch off the applance and thoroughly clean the basket flter and the jug.10. The applance s now ready for use.11.

The followng procedure should be followed when the applance s transported: Swtch off the machne (fg. 3C & 4C) and remove the plug from the wall socket.1. Remove the jugs and the basket flter.2. Empty the machne, by turnng t upsde down above the snk, so that the remanng 3. water runs out through the spray head (attenton: the water can stll be hot!) Wpe the machne dry, and replace all the components that have been removed.4. The machne s now ready for transport.5. When t s relocated, the procedures of “Installaton”, should be followed.6.Excelso
