How do I install the JXI8742DS hood?
Installation requires a ceiling support capable of holding 100 lb (45 kg). Follow the provided template to drill holes, install bolts, then lift the hood with two people. Connect the duct (6" round) and power supply (120 V, 15 A). Refer to the manual for details.
How to clean the metal grease filters?
Remove the filter cover by pulling downward. Rotate the retaining screws 90° counterclockwise to release the filter. Wash it in a dishwasher or hot soapy water. Let dry completely before reinstalling.
What is the Auto Sense function?
Auto Sense automatically detects cooking heat and adjusts the fan speed. It can be configured for a gas cooktop (default) or electric by holding the AUTO button for 5 seconds. The hood turns off if no heat is detected for 2 hours.
How to install the charcoal filter for recirculation?
Remove the metal grease filter. Wrap the flexible charcoal filter around the grease filter, secure with side springs, then place the top cover with locking spring. Use recirculation kit ref. W10646865.
What is the minimum installation height above the cooktop?
For an electric cooktop: 24" (61 cm) minimum. For a gas cooktop: 30" (76.2 cm) minimum. Maximum recommended height is 36" (91.4 cm).
How to use the hood's timer?
Press and hold the desired speed button (Low, Med, Hi or Boost) for 2 seconds. The indicator flashes and the hood will automatically shut off after 15 minutes. To cancel, press the same button again or change speed.
What to do if the filter light comes on?
The Filter light indicates it is time to clean or replace the filter. After cleaning the grease filter or replacing the charcoal filter, press the FILTER button to turn off the light.
Can I use the hood without external ventilation?
Yes, with the recirculation kit (ref. W10646865) and a charcoal filter (ref. W10272069). Air is filtered and recirculated through the upper chimney cover louvers.
What accessories are available for this hood?
