How to charge the Unold Wärmi 86010 electric hot water bottle?

Place the hot water bottle flat on a dry surface. First plug the male connector of the charger into the charging socket of the bottle, then plug the charger into a wall outlet. The indicator light turns on and heating takes about 8 to 15 minutes. Once the light turns off, first unplug the charger from the outlet, then remove the cable from the bottle.

How long does the heat last?

The runtime varies from 2 to 10 hours depending on use (e.g., hands or under a duvet). The maximum temperature is 65 °C.

Can I machine wash the hot water bottle?

No, the hot water bottle itself should never be machine washed or immersed in water. Clean it with a damp cloth and a little mild soap. However, the cover can be machine washed at a maximum of 30 °C, and the belt by hand or dry clean.

Is it normal for the hot water bottle to emit a slight odor during first use?

Yes, a slight plastic smell and mild boiling sounds are normal during the first few charges or after a long period of disuse. This disappears after a few uses.

Can I use the hot water bottle while it is charging?

No, it is strictly forbidden to use the hot water bottle while charging. Wait until it is fully charged and unplugged before using it.

Can the hot water bottle be used by children?

This appliance can be used by children aged 8 and over under supervision. Children must not play with it. Caution: some parts become very hot, risk of burns. Do not use for infants or people insensitive to heat.

How to know when charging is complete?

The control light turns off automatically when the maximum temperature (approx. 65 °C) is reached. Then unplug the charger immediately.

What to do if the hot water bottle does not heat up or the indicator light does not turn on?

Check that the plug is properly inserted and that the charger is correctly connected to the bottle. If the bottle is still warm, wait for it to cool down. If the problem persists, contact Unold customer service.

Can I use the hot water bottle with the belt?

Yes, the belt allows you to hold the hot water bottle around your back or other body parts. Place the bottle into the belt opening. Never sit on the hot water bottle.

What to do if the hot water bottle leaks or expands?

If the bottle leaks or expands abnormally, stop using it and contact customer service. Expansion may be due to excess gas; do not attempt to empty it yourself.

1. The appliance has been designed for household use and is not a medical device. If you are unsure about the use of the appliance, consult your doctor.
2. This appliance can be used by children aged 8 years or more and persons with reduced physical, sensory or mental capabilities or lack of experience and knowledge, provided they are supervised or have been instructed in the safe use of the appliance and understand the hazards involved.
3. Children must not play with the appliance.
4. Children from the age of 8 may be permitted to clean or maintain the appliance, provided they are supervised.
5. Keep the appliance and its power cord out of the reach of children under the age of 8.
6. Connect the appliance to an alternating current source as specified on the type plate.

7. CAUTION - Certain parts of the appliance might become very hot when it is in use. There is thus a risk of injury from burns! Particular caution is required when children or vulnerable people are present when the appliance is used.

Instructions for the safe use of the appliance

1. Do not heat the appliance in a microwave oven or similar device.
2. Charge the appliance only with the supplied charger. Never use a different charger or accessories from another manufacturer, as this could damage the appliance.
3. During charging, do not place the appliance directly below the power socket.
4. The hot water bag must be charged and used only indoors.
5. Before charging the appliance, check whether the voltage of the power socket corresponds to the voltage rating of the charger.
6. Never immerse the charger, plug, power cord or hot water bag in water or another liquid.
7. Before charging, fully unreel the power cord. Do not place the power cord over edges of tables, etc. as there is risk that small children might pull the appliance from the table.
8. Do not wrap the power cord around the appliance.
9. To unplug the power cord from the power socket, always pull at the plug and never at the cable.
10. Do not use the appliance while it is being charged.

11. During charging, the charging port must face up.

12. When charging is completed, disconnect the power cord from the power socket.

13. During charging, the hot water bag must be in a horizontal position, as there is otherwise risk of ignition of the cloth bag.
14. Never place objects on the hot water bag.
15. Do not sit on the hot water bag.
16. Before stowing away the hot water bag, let it cool to room temperature.
17. Never clean the appliance with water, white spirit, toluene or other volatile solvents.
18. Keep the appliance away from pointed objects and protect it against impact.
19. For safety reasons, do not operate the appliance near wash-hand basins, bathtubs or water taps.
20. Do not place the hot water bag on naked skin – risk of injury from burns!
21. Never use the hot water bag to keep animals or animal enclosures warm.
22. During charging, there might be some boiling water noise and a slight smell of plastic.
23. The appliance does not require any maintenance such as adding/changing water.
24. Regularly check the appliance, the power cord and the plug for wear and damage. If the power cord or other parts of the appliance are damaged, return the appliance for inspection and repair to our customer service department. Improper repair can result in serious hazards to the user and shall void all warranty.
25. If the power cord of the appliance is defective, return the appliance to our customer service department or have it replaced by a qualified electrician.

The manufacturer will not be liable in the event of incorrect assembly, improper or incorrect use or if repairs are carried out by unauthorized third parties.

Caution: Always strictly adhere to all safety instructions in the document and keep this instruction manual for future reference. During operation, do not cover the appliance as this could result in overheating and fire.

Do not operate the appliance near wash-hand basins, bathtubs or other vessels filled with water. Never immerse the appliance in water or another liquid.

Do not use the appliance for persons who need care; new-born infants; animals; persons who are particularly sensitive to heat. The hot water bag can become very hot - risk of injury from burns!

For charging, place the hot water bag in a horizontal position. The appliance must only be used indoors.

BEFORE FIRST USE

1. Remove all packaging and transport safety devices. Keep the packaging material away from children. Choke hazard! Dispose of the packaging material according to the applicable statutory waste disposal regulations.
2. Inspect the appliance for damage. If there is visible damage, do not operate the appliance; instead, contact our customer service department.
3. Check whether all accessories listed in this manual have been shipped with your appliance.

When the appliance is used for the first time, and after prolonged storage, there might be some minor odour.

CHARGING AND USE OF APPLIANCE

1. Caution: Only heat the hot water bag after it has been fully cooled down.
2. Place the charger on a level, dry surface.
3. Take the hot water bag from the cloth bag.
4. Open the safety cap covering the charging port of the hot water bag.

5. Ensure that your hands are dry. They first connect the charging cable to the charging port of the hot water bag and then connect the power plug of the charger to the power socket.

6. Ensure that the hot water bag is in a horizontal position (see figure).

1. The indicator is lit, and the hot water bag is being charged/heated. Charging takes about 8 to 15 minutes, depending on the hot water bag and the ambient temperature.

2. When charging is completed, the indicator is switched off. For safety reasons, charging is automatically terminated when the hot water bag reaches a temperature of 65^ C.

3. Ensure that your hands are dry. Then disconnect the power plug from the power socket. Hold the protective cover of the hot water bag with one hand and disconnect the charging cable with the other hand (see figure). To disconnect the charging cable, do not use force in order to prevent damage the appliance and the cable.

1. Place the hot water bag in the cloth bag.

2. The appliance is now ready for use. The hot water bag remains warm for a time of 2 hours (e.g. to warn hands) and 10 hours (when placed in a bed).

3. Caution: The hot water bag can withstand weights of max. 80 kg. However, do not expose it to heavy weights for a prolonged period of time, as this might permanently damage the bag cover.

4. First check the temperature of the hot water bag. If it is too hot, let it cool down before use.

Use of belly belt

1. Place the hot water bag in the belt and then place the belt around your body, e.g. to heat the back. The belly belt keeps the hot water bag in place for extra comfort.

CLEANING AND MAINTENANCE

Before cleaning the appliance, disconnect it from the charger. Let the appliance cool down before cleaning it.

Never immerse the appliance in water or another liquid.

1. Clean the surface of the hot water bag with a damp cloth and little household soap.
2. Keep the charging port dry.
3. Never use scouring agents, steel wool, metal objects, pointed implements, hot detergents or disinfectants.
4. Dry the appliance thoroughly before stowing it away.
5. When not in use, keep the appliance and its accessories in a dry, dust-free place.

Cleaning belly belt

Caution: Before cleaning the belly belt, remove the hot water bag from the belt! Do not clean the hot water bag in the washing machine!

1. Do not wash the belly belt in the washing machine.

2. If required, wash the belt by hand in a mild soapy solution. Alternatively, have it dry-cleaned. Do not use bleach to clean the belly belt. To dry the belly belt, place it on a surface. Do not hang it from a washing line. If required, iron it (maximum level 2, 120 °C). Before using the belly belt, make sure that it is completely dry.

Cleaning cloth bag

Caution: Before cleaning the cloth bag, remove the hot water bag! Do not clean the hot water bag in the washing machine!

1. The cloth bag of the hot water bag can be washed at max. 30 °C in the washing machine (using a mild detergent). Alternatively, have it dry-cleaned. To dry the belly belt, place it on a surface. Do not hang it from a washing line. If required, iron it (maximum level 2, 120 °C). Before using the cloth bag, make sure that it is completely dry.

Caution: Never dry the cloth bag or the belly belt in a tumble dryer.

TROUBLESHOOTING

Important: After prolonged use, the hot water bag might expand in volume, while its heat release capacity diminishes. Also, the charging process might be terminated for safety reasons before the correct temperature is reached. In these cases, please contact our customer service department.

GUARANTEE CONDITIONS

We grant a 24 months guarantee, and in case of commercial use a 12 months guarantee, starting from the date of purchase for any damage demonstrably due to manufacturing defects and when the appliance has been used according to its intended use. Within the warranty period we will remedy defective materials or workmanship through repair or replacement, at our option. Our warranty terms apply only to appliances sold in Germany and Austria. For other countries, please contact the responsible importer. In the event of a claim for remedy of defects, please send the appliance to our after sales service, properly packaged, together with a copy of the automatically generated sales receipt, which must show the date of purchase, and a description of the defect. You can print out a return receipt on our website www.unold.de/ruecksendung. (only for entries from Germany and Austria). The warranty does not cover damage from normal wear, improper handling and failure to comply with the maintenance and care instructions. The warranty is void if repairs or modifications are made to the appliance by third parties. Any claims of the end consumer vis-à-vis the retailer are not limited by this warranty.

WASTE DISPOSAL / ENVIRONMENTAL PROTECTION

Our appliances are produced on a high quality level for a long lifetime. Regular maintenance and expert repairs by our after-sales service can extend the useful life of the appliance. If an appliance is defective and repair is not possible we ask you to follow the following instructions for disposal. Do not dispose this appliance together with your standard household waste. Please bring this product to an approved collection point for recycling of electric and electronic products. By separate collection and disposal of waste products you help to protect natural resources and ensure, that the product is disposed in an adequate way to protect health and environment.
