The WinSafe WS 44 is compatible with all inward-opening windows and French doors made of wood, aluminum, or PVC with a metal insert. It mounts on the hinge side.
What tools are needed to install the lock?
You will need a Phillips screwdriver, a drill/screwdriver, a ruler, a pencil, a hammer, and drill bits with diameters 2.5 mm (wood), 3.0 mm (aluminum/PVC), and 3.5 mm. A saw, file, or vise may be useful to shorten screws if necessary.
How to determine the correct mounting position?
The window lock should be positioned so that the lock axis is aligned with the hinge axis. Use the provided shims to adjust the distance between the sash and frame. Check that the window closes and opens correctly before drilling.
What precautions should be taken when drilling?
Never drill through the frame or sash completely. Use a depth stop. Be careful not to damage moving parts, seals, or glass. Drill at low speed and without forcing.
How to use the WinSafe WS 44 on a daily basis?
To lock, slide the bolt upward. The safety deadbolt then extends. For normal rotary opening, no additional unlocking is needed. To tilt the window, push the bolt so that the deadbolt extends, then open normally.
What to do if the bolt does not slide easily?
Check that the striking plate is properly aligned. You can adjust the position of the striking plate by loosening the screws slightly and moving it. Also ensure that the shims are in place and that the screws are not overtightened.
