Digital baby scale BE 1817 Intended Use The baby scale is intended for weighing babies or small animals. The scale is designed exclusively for private use and is not a medical device. Therefore, the scale may not be used in clinics, doctor's surgeries, etc. The maximum carrying capacity of 20 kg must not be exceeded. Safety This item can be used by children 8 years of age and above, as well as by persons with reduced physical, sensory, or mental capacities or lacking experience and knowledge, if they are supervised or have been instructed in the safe use of the item and understand the dangers that may arise. Children must not play with the item. Cleaning and user maintenance must not be carried out by children, unless they are 8 years of age or older and are being supervised. Batteries, when swallowed, can be life-threatening. You should therefore keep the batteries and scales out of reach of small children. If a battery is swallowed, medical assistance must be sought immediately. DANGER for Children Keep children away from packaging material. Risk of choking if swallowed. Also pay attention that children do not pull the packaging material over their heads. RISK of fire/burning and/or explosion There is a risk of explosion if batteries are replaced incorrectly. Replace the battery using only the same or an equivalent type of battery. Pay attention to the “Technical Data”. Batteries must not be recharged, reactivated by other means, dismantled, thrown into re, or short-circuited. Otherwise there is an increased risk of explosion and of leakage; furthermore, gases may escape. Avoid contact with skin, eyes, and mucosa. Make sure you can intervene at any time to prevent the child from slipping or falling o the scale. BEWARE of material damage Place the scales on a stable, even surface. Do not overload the scales. Pay attention to the “Technical Data”. Place yourself on the scales exclusively for weighing purposes. Protect the scales from sharp jolts and vibrations. Remove the batteries from the scales if they have been used up or if you are not going to use the scales for a long time. You will thus avoid damage that may result from the leakage of battery acid. When inserting and changing batteries, pay attention to the correct polarity (+/-). Do not subject the battery to any extreme conditions, by – for example – storing it on radiators or under direct sunlight. Increased risk of leakage! Clean the battery and device contacts, as needed, before inserting the battery. Only insert batteries of the same type; do not use dierent types or used and new batteries with each other. Do not make any modications to the item. Only allow repairs to be carried out at a specialist workshop. Repairs carried out incorrectly can considerably endanger the user. Do not place the scales in the vicinity of devices that may emit electromagnetic radiation, such as mobile phones, wireless devices, or the like. Doing so may lead to incorrect display indicators or malfunctions. There are feet on the underside of the scales. Since surfaces are made from various materials and are treated with diverse care products, the possibility cannot be completely excluded that some of these substances contain constituents that attack and soften the feet of the device. Digital baby scale BE 1817 English Start-up Inserting/changing batteries For use, you require 2 batteries of type LR03 (AAA), 1.5 V (included). The battery compartment is located on the underside of the device.

1. Press the locking tab slightly towards the battery compartment cover and remove

the battery compartment cover marked with OPEN.

2. Insert the batteries as shown on the base of the battery compartment.

Pay attention to the correct polarity (+/-).

3. Put the battery compartment cover back in place. The locking tab must snap

securely into place. Notes on changing the battery: A change of batteries becomes necessary when “LO” appears on the display, or when nothing at all is displayed. Only use the type of battery that is specied in the “Technical Data”. Always change both batteries at the same time. Dispose of batteries in an environmentally appropriate way (see “Disposal”). Choosing the unit of measurement When the scales are delivered, the unit of measurement is set to “kg” as standard. However, the measurement result can also be displayed in the English units of measurement, “lb” (pound) or “st” (stone:pound).

Positioning the scales WARNING against injuries − Be sure to keep the baby safe on a firm and stable base surface of the scale. The scale and base surface, e.g. a table, must not wobble in any case. − Place the scales on an even, rm, and dry surface. Do not place the scales on a carpet.Weighing

/TARE button. The illuminated display will show “HELO” and “0.00” shortly thereafter, as well as the set unit of measurement, e.g. “kg”.

2. Place a soft towel or small blanket on the weighing surface.

/TARE to reset the scale to zero (observe the display indication “TArE”). This ensures that the towel or blanket is not weighed.

4. Place the baby to be weighed on the towel or blanket.

The current weight value will be displayed dynamically shortly thereafter. Of course, you can also perform the weighing without any towel or blanket. In this case, steps 2 and 3 will be omitted. Weigh the baby as undressed as possible. Try to weigh yourself always at the same time and under consistent conditions in order to obtain comparable values. Switching off the scales − Hold down /TARE until the indicator on the display goes out. The scales automatically switch off if they are not used for approx. 20 seconds. Resetting the scales Reset the scales to factory settings if unusual or obviously incorrect values are shown on the display.

1. Remove the batteries from the battery compartment and wait a moment.

2. Re-insert the batteries.

Pay attention to the correct polarity of the batteries (+/-). After switching the scales on, you can weigh yourself as usual.Cleaning

If you do, the surface could be scratched. − Wipe down the scales as needed using a lightly dampened, soft cloth. − Disinfect the weighing surface from time to time using a suitable disinfecting agent (available at specialist retailers and pharmacies).
