Frequently Asked Questions - RT 350 Rommelsbacher

How to use the RT 350 immersion heater correctly?
Always place the immersion heater in the water before plugging it in. Use a narrow, heat-resistant container with a capacity of 0.25 liters. Fill with water up to the MAX level (95 mm) without exceeding. Plug into a grounded outlet. After use, unplug and wait 15 seconds before removing the appliance from the liquid.
Can I heat liquids other than water?
No, this appliance is designed only for heating water. Do not use it for oils or other liquids, as this could damage the appliance and void the warranty.
How to clean the immersion heater?
Unplug the appliance and let it cool completely. Clean it with a damp cloth. Do not use abrasive products or harsh cleaners.
How to descale the appliance?
To remove limescale, use a mixture of water and vinegar or a usual descaling agent. Boil the solution in the appliance, then rinse thoroughly. Regular descaling extends the service life and prevents overheating.
What to do if the appliance no longer heats?
First check that the appliance is properly plugged in and the outlet works. Ensure the water level is sufficient. If the appliance has been operated dry, the overheat protection may have permanently disabled the appliance; in this case, it cannot be repaired.
Can I use the appliance without water?
No, this is strictly prohibited. The appliance must always be immersed in water before plugging it in. Dry operation causes overheating and irreversibly destroys the appliance, voiding the warranty.
The immersion heater turned off by itself, what to do?
This is likely due to the overheat protection if the appliance was used without water or with too little water. In this case, the appliance is permanently out of service and must be replaced.
What type of container should I use?
Use a narrow, heat-resistant container with a capacity of 0.25 liters (0.2 liters with the accessory glass). Place it on a flat, heat-resistant surface. The water level should be between the MIN (70 mm) and MAX (95 mm) marks.
How to know if the appliance is overheating?
If the appliance heats abnormally or shuts off abruptly, this may indicate overheating. The surfaces become very hot. Darkening or blue discoloration of the heating element is a sign of overheating due to lack of water; in this case, the appliance is out of service.
Is the appliance guaranteed against limescale damage?
No, the warranty does not cover damage caused by limescale. It is essential to regularly descale the appliance to prevent overheating and maintain the warranty.

Depending on the water hardness, lime scale might form around the heating coil. It must be removed from time to time by heating some water with vinegar or by using a customary descaling agent.
