USER MANUAL Desire 2228056 RUSSELL HOBBS
Read the instructions, keep them safe, pass them on if you pass the appliance on. Remove all packaging before use. IMPORTANT SAFEGUARDS Follow basic safety precautions, including: This appliance can be used by persons with reduced physical, sensory or mental capabilities or lack of experience and knowledge if they have been supervised/instructed and understand the hazards involved. Children must not use or play with the appliance. Keep the appliance and cable out of reach of children. C Misuse of the appliance may cause injury. Unplug the appliance before assembly, disassembly, or cleaning. Don’t leave the appliance unattended while plugged in. If the cable is damaged, it must be replaced by the manufacturer, its service agent, or someone similarly qualified, to avoid hazard. b Do not use this appliance near bathtubs, showers, basins or other vessels containing water.
- Don’t use fingers or cutlery to push food down the tube – only the pusher.
- Don’t use the appliance for any purpose other than those described in these instructions.
- Don’t operate the appliance if it’s damaged or malfunctions.
- Don’t run the motor continuously for more than 2 minutes, it may overheat. After 2 minutes switch off for at least 2 minutes, to recover.
1. Switch the appliance off (O) and unplug it.
2. Choose the pair of cutters you need – slicer, coarse grater, fine grater.
3. Stand the cutter mount upright on the work surface. Don’t try to fit the cutters to the cutter mount
while holding it in the operating position or you might cut yourself.
4. Fit the tabs on the wide end of the cutter into the slots in the wide end of the cutter mount.
5. Press the tab on the narrow end of the cutter into the space in the narrow end of the cutter mount.
6. Turn the cutter mount, then fit the second cutter.
7. Slide the cutter mount into the body.
8. Turn the ring nut 45° clockwise.
9. Push it on to the front of the body.
10. Turn it 45° anti-clockwise, to lock it in place.
13. Turn it 45° anti-clockwise, to lock it in place.
14. Fit the cap to the pusher, and drop the pusher into the tube.
1. Cut the food to a shape that will go down the tube (48x40mm).
2. Put the plug into the power socket.
3. Move the switch to I.
4. Remove the pusher, and drop the ingredients down the tube.
5. Replace the pusher, and use it to push the ingredients gently down the tube.
1. Switch the appliance off (O) and unplug it.
2. Turn the body 45° clockwise, to disengage the bayonet fittings, and pull it off the motor unit.
3. Turn the ring nut 45° clockwise.
4. Lift it off the body.
5. Push the rear of the cutter mount towards the body, then tip the cutter mount out.
6. Stand the cutter mount upright on the work surface.
7. Press the tab on the narrow end of the cutter towards the wide end of the cutter mount, to release it
from the cutter mount, then lift the cutter out.
8. Rotate the cutter mount, then remove the second cutter.
STORAGE You may store the cutters in the guides inside the pusher. Insert them with the narrow end down. NOISE If you find the appliance is noisy, the cutter may be rubbing against the ring nut. Applying a little cooking oil to the inside of the ring nut before use should fix this.
CARE AND MAINTENANCE
1. Switch the appliance off (O) and unplug it.
2. Wipe the outside of the motor unit with a clean damp cloth.
3. Wash the removable parts in warm soapy water, rinse well, drain, and air dry.
You may wash these parts in a dishwasher. If you use a dishwasher, the harsh environment inside the dishwasher will affect the surface finishes. The damage should be cosmetic only, and should not affect the operation of the appliance. STAINING Carotenoids, which are found in many other vegetables as well as carrots, can cause severe staining. This staining may be impossible to remove. Don’t worry about it, it won’t affect the operation of the appliance.
1. Rubbing the stains with cooking oil immediately before washing may help.
2. Cleaning the affected parts in a dishwasher may reduce the staining.

2. Dismantle the appliance, clean it, assemble it, and start again.5
