How to clean the cooking plates?

The cooking plates and fat collection drawer are dishwasher safe. You can also clean them by hand with a sponge, hot water, and dish soap. Never use scouring powder or metallic sponge to preserve the non-stick coating.

What to do during first use?

During first use, a slight emission of smell or smoke may occur. This is normal. Wash the plates before use, pour a little oil and wipe with a soft cloth. Preheat the appliance empty for 5 to 10 minutes before cooking food.

Can I use an extension cord?

Yes, provided it is of at least equivalent cross-section and with built-in grounding plug. Take all precautions to ensure no one trips over it.

How to know if the appliance is ready to cook?

The red indicator light turns on when the appliance is plugged in. After a preheating of 5 to 10 minutes, the appliance is ready. Open the grill and place your food on the lower plate.

Can I cook frozen food?

Yes, but it is recommended to partially thaw them for even cooking. Be careful not to overload the plates and adjust the cooking time.

What to do in case of a burn?

Immediately run the burned area under cold water for several minutes. If the burn is severe, consult a doctor.

How to empty the fat collection drawer during cooking?

Never remove the drawer during cooking. If it is full, let the appliance cool down before emptying it.

Does the appliance get very hot on the outside?

Accessible surfaces may become hot. Do not touch metal parts during use. Use the handles and keep the appliance out of reach of children.

Can I cook food in foil parcels?

No, do not cook in foil parcels. Do not place aluminum foil or any other object between the plates and the food.

How to adjust the temperature?

The thermostat allows you to adjust the temperature. For normal grilling, turn the knob to the desired position. To stop, set the thermostat to the minimum position and unplug the appliance.

Do

• Read the instructions carefully, common to different versions depending on the accessories supplied with your appliance, and keep them within reach.
• Before first use remove all packaging materials, stickers and accessories from the inside and the outside of the appliance.
• Fully unwind the power cord before plugging in the appliance.
• If it is necessary to use an extension lead ensure that it is of suitable construction and power rating, with an earth connection; take all necessary precautions to prevent anyone tripping over an extension cord.
• This appliance is designed to function on AC current only. Before using it for the first time, check that your mains supply voltage matches that indicated on the appliance data plate.
• Any connection error may cause irreversible damage and will invalidate your guarantee.
• Always plug the appliance into a socket outlet with an earth connection.
• Given the diverse standards in effect, if the appliance is used in a country other than that in which it is purchased, have it checked by an Approved Service Centre.
• If an accident occurs, rinse the burn immediately with cold water and call a doctor if necessary.
• On first use, wash the plates (follow paragraph Cleaning), pour a little cooking oil onto the plates and wipe with a soft cloth.
• Position the power cord carefully, whether an extension is used or not, so that guests can move freely around the table without tripping over it.
• Cooking fumes may be dangerous for animals which have a particularly sensitive respiratory system, such as birds. We advise bird owners to keep them away from the cooking area.
• Always keep the appliance out of the reach of children.
• Ensure that the plates are stable, well positioned and correctly clipped to the appliance. Only use the plates provided with the appliance or bought from an Approved Service Centre.
• Always use a wooden or plastic spatula to avoid damaging the cooking plate.

• Never leave the appliance unattended when in use.
• Never leave the appliance plugged in when not in use.
• To prevent the appliance from overheating, do not place it in a corner or below a wall cupboard.
• Never place the appliance directly on a fragile surface (glass table, tablecloth, varnished furniture, etc.) or on a soft surface such as a tea-towel.
• Never disconnect the plug by pulling on the power cord.
• Inspect the appliance and power cord for signs of wear or damage prior to connecting to the power supply.

• To preserve the non-stick properties of the coating, avoid excessive pre-heating with the appliance empty.

• Do not cook food in aluminium foil.
• To avoid spoiling your appliance, do not use flambé recipes in connection with it at any time.
• Never immerse the appliance, its power cord or plug in water or any other liquid. They are not dishwasher safe.

Instructions for use

Explanatory drawings are at the end of this leaflet.

• Place your appliance on a flat, stable and heat-resistant work surface, away from water splashes.
• Plug the cord into the mains.
• Do not forget to place a small container (saucer or plate) under the drip channel of your plates to collect any juices that might run off.
• The red indicator light will come on and remain lit, showing that the appliance is powered on.
• Pre-heat the appliance for 5-10 minutes.
  •After pre-heating, the appliance is ready for use.
• Open the appliance and carefully pour the batter on the lower plate.
• Leave the preparations to cook for the desired time.
• When cooking is complete, put the thermostat in Min position.
• Unplug the appliance.
• Leave to cool for at least 2 hours in the position used for cooking.

Cleaning

• Check that the appliance is cooled and disconnected before cleaning.
• The appliance and its power supply cord must not be put in the dishwasher.
• The plates and the drip tray are dishwasher safe.
• The heating coil is not to be cleaned. If it is really dirty, wait until it has cooled down and wipe with a dry cloth.
