How to install the ARD51 alarm?

Place the device indoors, on a flat surface, at least 2 meters away from heat sources. Plug in the adapter or insert 8 AA batteries into the compartment. Adjust the sensor range with the HI/MID/LOW switch inside the compartment. Press the On/Off button to activate the alarm, the ARM indicator lights up after a 15-second delay.

How to change the alarm sound?

Press the Select button located on the top of the device to cycle through the three sounds: dog barking, police siren, and doorbell (ding-dong). The selection is confirmed by the immediate change of sound.

How to adjust the alarm volume?

Use the Vol + and Vol - buttons located on the back of the device. The volume is adjustable over 8 levels, from 70 to 120 dB maximum.

How to adjust the detection range?

Open the battery compartment and set the switch to HI (max range 6 m front / 9-16 m rear), MID (4 m front / 6-9 m rear), or LOW (2 m front / 3-6 m rear). Adjust according to your needs.

Can I use the ARD51 with batteries only?

Yes, the device operates with 8 AA 1.5V batteries (not included). Insert them into the designated compartment. Remove the batteries if the device is not used for a long time.

What to do in case of frequent false alarms?

Check that the device is not placed near a heat source (radiator, direct sunlight) or in an air draft. Move the unit to another location or adjust its orientation. Reduce the detection range (switch from HI to MID or LOW).

How to temporarily deactivate the alarm?

Press the On/Off button once. The ARM indicator turns off and the alarm stops according to the current sound: dog 20s, siren 50s, doorbell immediately.

Can the ARD51 be used outdoors?

No, the device is designed for indoor use only. Do not expose it to rain, humidity, direct sunlight, or high temperatures.

What does the ARM indicator mean?

The ARM indicator indicates that the alarm is activated and radar detection is operational. It lights up about 15 seconds after power on (startup delay) and remains lit as long as the alarm is in active mode.

How long does the alarm sound after detection?

The duration depends on the selected sound: dog barking stops about 20 seconds after the last detection, police siren after 50 seconds, and the doorbell stops immediately after movement ends.

Power supply

The alarm unit can be powered using either the supplied adapter or with batteries. This makes it suitable for use at locations without electrical outlets nearby.

• To use with supplied adapter: Connect the adapter, see (a).
• To use with batteries: Open the battery compartment see (b) and insert 8 x 1.5 V DC AA batteries. Attention: Remove the batteries if you will not be using the alarm unit for an extended period of time.

Setting the detection range

Open the battery cover of the alarm unit and use the switch to experimentally adjust the range of the radar sensor:

• HI

• < 6 m. from the front of the alarm unit
• 9-16 m. from the back of the alarm unit

• MID

• < 4 m. from the front of the alarm unit
• 6-9 m from the back of the alarm unit

- LOW

• < 2 m. from the front of the alarm unit
• 3-6 m from the back of the alarm unit

Switching on the alarm

• When the alarm unit is powered, the led POWER will light up.
• To activate or deactivate the alarm, press the On/Off button at the top of the alarm unit. When the alarm is activated, the led ARM will light up.

• To change the alarm signal, press the Select button.
- Use the Vol + and Vol - buttons to change the alarm volume.
- After switching the alarm unit in alarm mode, it takes about 15 seconds for the radar sensor to detect movement. This delay allows you to leave after the room without triggering the alarm unit.
- If the alarm unit is triggered it will start alarming. Depending on the alarm signal you have selected, it will stop alarming a few seconds after them motion was detected.

• Barking dog : Stops approx. 20 seconds after last motion detection
• Police alarm : Stops approx. 50 seconds after last motion detection
• Doorbell : Stops immediately after the last motion detection

- To deactivate the alarm, press the On/Off button once. The led ARM will turn off. Depending on the selected alarm, the alarm unit will stop alarming a few seconds later.

• Barking dog : Stops approx. 20 seconds after pressing the On/Off button.
• Police alarm : Stops approx. 50 seconds after pressing the On/Off button.
• Doorbell : Stops immediately after pressing the On/Off button.

Important

• This product is only suitable for indoor use. Do not place the alarm unit where it will be exposed to direct sunlight, high temperatures (such as radiators or heaters) or rain. Do not open this unit other than as intended and do not attempt to repair/modify this unit yourself. The warranty on this product is void if it is used in a manner other than that specified by the manufacturer.
• The volume of the alarm signal is very loud (120dB maximum). Therefore, avoid prolonged contact with the alarm signal.
• If the alarm unit is placed too close to a heat source, a false alarm can occur. Resolve this by relocating the alarm unit to a different location / in a different direction.
• ELRO Europe is not responsible for any loss or damage caused by the malfunctioning of the alarm unit.
