Frequently Asked Questions - MaxiTemp 2800 G3 Ferrari

How to fill the water tank of the MaxiTemp 2800 iron?
Make sure the iron is unplugged and cold. Set the steam lever to «0». Open the filling flap, tilt the iron and slowly pour water up to the MAX level. Close the flap.
What temperature should I use for cotton or linen?
For cotton and linen, set the thermostat to the high temperature position (symbol •••). Wait until the indicator light turns off before starting.
Can I use the iron dry?
Yes, simply set the steam adjustment lever to «0». The spray function remains available if needed.
How to use the steam shot function?
Make sure the tank has water and the temperature is set to high temperature. Press the steam shot button (4) intermittently. Wait a few seconds between each press.
What if water leaks from the soleplate?
This can happen if the temperature is too low for steam. Increase the temperature and wait for the indicator light to turn off. Also make sure the steam lever is not at maximum at low temperature.
How to clean the iron and descale the interior?
Use a damp cloth for the exterior. For descaling, activate the self-cleaning function: fill the tank, set the temperature to maximum, unplug, then press the self-cleaning button (10) over the sink until water and steam come out.
What type of water should I use in the tank?
Use tap water. Do not add any chemicals, vinegar or descaling agents, as this could damage the appliance.
Does the iron turn off automatically when not in use?
The manual does not indicate an automatic shut-off function. It is recommended to unplug the iron when not in use.
How to store the iron after use?
Unplug it, empty the tank by tilting the iron, let the soleplate cool down, wind the cord and store it in vertical position on its base.
Why does the indicator light turn on and off during ironing?
This is normal: the thermostat maintains the temperature. The light turns on when the soleplate heats up and turns off when the temperature is reached.

GENERAL INFORMATION

At first use, remove the protective film of the plate; due to the presence of a protective oil and residues left over from the film, the plate could emit some smoke. After few uses, the smoke will disappear.

When using the product the first time, repeatedly use steam (away from clothes) and try to use the iron on a worthless piece of cloth to remove any manufacturing residues that may stain or scratch the fabric.

When not in use, the iron must be stored upright.

Keep the power cord free from knots and tangles.

Do not wrap the power cord around the iron, either before or after use.

It is recommended not to use too frequently the button called "steam shock" (steam shot), because it decreases the temperature of the iron plate which may cause drips of water instead of steam.

Do not use the ironing system as a heating unit.

Always unplug before you fill or empty the tank.

Do not fill the tank above the maximum capacity and do not introduce into the tank mixtures for removing stain, vinegar, descaling agents or chemicals in general.

Always select the most suitable temperature according to the fabric to be ironed.

The iron must be used and rested on a stable surface.

When placing the iron on its iron stand, make sure that the surface is stable. The iron should not be used if dropped, when there are visible signs of damage, or if it loses water during operations.

CAUTION: the iron plate gets very hot during use, be careful not to touch it, serious risk of burns. Do not put your face near the steam coming out the iron plate.

FILLING THE TANK

The filling operation must be performed only when the plate has been cooled down and after having unplugged the unit from the electrical outlet. We recommend the use of demineralized water to prevent excessive fouling (not covered by warranty).

1) Place the steam control knob (3) on "0". Open the water tank lid (2).
2) Raise the tip of the iron to avoid any leak of water during the operation.
3) Enter the water up to the maximum level (300ml) indicated with "MAX" on the tank. Close the lid (2).

TEMPERATURE SETTING

The following table provides a guideline on how to adjust the thermostat according to the international symbols printed on the clothing labels or according to the type of fabric.

LABELFABRICTEMPERATURE
Synthetic (Acrylic, nylon...)● Low temperature
●●silk – wool●● Medium temperature
●●●cotton – linen●●● High temperature
●●Do not iron
  • It is recommended ironing clothes that require low temperatures first and then medium and high temperatures. This operation allows to save time since ironing plate heats faster than it cools down.
  • When you do not know the composition, it is recommended to iron a non-visible part of the it, starting from the lowest temperature to find the most suitable temperature.
  • Sometimes the clothing becomes shiny, in this case you need to iron it on the inside not to ruin it. When ironing at maximum temperature (MAX), it is recommended to place a cloth between the ironing plate and the fabric.

Setting the temperature

1) Place the iron vertically. Plug the device to the electrical outlet.
2) Select the temperature regulator (9) according to the symbols shown on the previous page. The chosen symbol has to be aligned with the mark placed on the tank. The iron plate temperature control light shows that the iron plate (6) is warming up. Wait until light turns off to start ironing.

Caution: While ironing, the control light lights up periodically indicating that the temperature is constant. If you lower the thermostat, do not start ironing until iron temperature control light turns off.

STEAM IRONING

Before using the steam check that the water contained in the tank is enough. Adjust steam power using the control knob (3). Place the steam control knob between minimum and maximum depending on the amount of steam required and temperature.

Caution: the iron provides continuous steam only if it is held in a horizontal position and if the plate is hot. It is possible to stop the continuous jet of steam by placing the iron vertically or placing the steam control (3) to "0". To avoid the dripping of water, it is recommended to only use steam at high temperatures.

STEAM JET - WATER SPRAY

Steam jet: press the steam-shot button (4) for having a vigorous jet of steam which can penetrate the fibers and soften even the most stubborn creases. Wait a few seconds before pressing.

By pressing the button periodically is also possible to freshen up curtains, hanging clothes, etc ...

Caution: the steam shot function can only be used at high temperatures; stop the jet when the temperature control light lights up, start again when it goes out.

Water spray: press the water spray button (5) slowly for having dense spray; press fast for vaporized spray.

Caution: make sure there is water in the tank. For delicate fibers it is advisable to moisten the article before using the spray. To prevent stains, do not use the spray over silk and synthetic fibers.

DRY IRONING

To perform dry ironing, move the steam regulator (3) in "0" position. In this position, the steam emission is disable, otherwise the water spray option is still unable.

CLEANING

Before cleaning any part of the product, ensure that the unit is unplugged from the electrical outlet and the ironing plate isn't hot anymore.

Any leftovers on the ironing plate can be removed with a damp cloth or with a non-abrasive detergents. Do not scrape the ironing plate with iron sponge or metal objects.

The plastic parts can be cleaned with a damp cloth and neutral detergent, then wiped with a dry cloth. Do not immerse the unit in water.

Self-cleaning: the use of this function every 10-15 days is recommended. The auto-cleaning removes impurities and lime scales inside the holes of the plate. Follow the steps:

  • Fill the tank up to the maximum level and place the steam regulator (3) to "0".
  • Set temperature controller (9) up to the maximum (MAX) and wait for the control light (6) to turn off.
  • Disconnect the power plug from the socket and hold the iron horizontally over a sink.
  • Press and hold self-cleaning button (10) until all the water and steam come out.
  • When the plate has cooled down, wipe it with a damp cloth.

BEFORE STORING

  • Unplug the system from the outlet.
Empty the water tank by turning the device upside down and shake it gently.
  • Allow the plate to cool down completely.
  • Wrap the power cord in the back of the body.
  • Leave the electric iron vertically.
